Virtualization e335 ThinkPad Edge problem

Hello

I just got a new 335 edge with Windows 8 Pro 64 bit installed. It has 8 GB of RAM and AMD APU E2-2000.

I had a few problems with this. One was that I could not activate Bluetooth in Windows 8 (solved by installing an earlier version of the Thinkpad Hotkey features software). Virtualization is another issue that is still unresolved.

AMD Virtualization is enabled in the BIOS. However, Windows 8 as well as virtualization AMD tool state once he is off. I, after the search of these forums and the web, off, cold start machine (remove battery), reactivated it, cold booted again (also removed the battery). However, Windows just won't accept that it is enabled.

Anyone had similar problems? If so, were you able to solve? Virtualization AMD and DEP was turned on when I got the laptop from Lenovo. Is this what I need to enable / disable?

I've also opened a ticket with support from Lenovo, and they told me that they need to check a few things, but cannot do so at this time that the system is brand new and not all the details of the system have been put in their system yet. They opened a call and will get in touch with me at some point.

Thank you.

Hello

I managed to "solve" the problem. There seems to be a problem with the BIOS. I turned virtualization AMD 'Stop' and then punt cold and virtualization now works and systeminfo reports the following: requirements of Hyper-V: a hypervisor has been detected. Characteristics required for
Hyper-V will not appear.

To test this, I turned virtualization 'On' and once more, he became disabled in Windows. Turning 'Off' in the BIOS re-enabled in Windows. This looks like "bug" in the BIOS (later - 1.7). Do you want to know if any staff of Lenovo monitor these forums? If this isn't the case, then I would like to present a 'bug report' if possible? (I'll tell the support on the resolution engineer when / if he calls me back).

Thank you

  • Problem of CPU ThinkPad Edge 14

    Hey

So I had my Thinkpad Edge 14 since the end of last summer.  I keep putting it off, but now it has got to the point where I have enough of him.  Here's my problem:

I connect my Thinkpad Edge 14 in the charger, which is obviously plugged into an outlet.  Usually, it is while the system is still working, but recently I tried to l ' first.  Now, about 1-2 minutes after I plug the laptop, the processor begins to FREAK OUT.  I put Rainmeter in place so I can keep track of my RAM/CPU/network and others.  So my little graphic of my CPU starts to spike and it goes from 0 %-> 26 %-> 0 %-> 78 %-> 100 %-> 0% and so on and so forth.  This does not happen over time, what is happening at all times.  The CPU just guard jump and fall.  It's killing my performance.  Everything becomes nervous and slow.  Opening a folder or my browser (which should take 2 seconds, if that) now takes about a minute.  Before, I could just turn off my phone and turn it back on, no problem.  Now, I disable and turn it 3 - 4 times and it is always jumping so I just let it stay there until the machine is loaded.  I got used to load just from one day to the next just so I don't have to deal with in the morning.  I don't have any idea what the problem is or how to stop it.  This has also nothing to do with going to Task Manager and ending a few process.  I tried and it does nothing.

I hope someone can help me with this problem because I have not seen anywhere.  I looked through the Lenovo Web site and got nothing.

  • Problem installing Windows 7 on Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 665D817

    Hello

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 665D817 without an operating system and be able to install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (msdnaa version). I actually had the Thinkpad even before and managed to install Windows 7 withouth any problems.

After starting from the USB stick during installation without hard drive is located. To this end, I insert a second usb key with drivers for AMD AHCI Controller Device Driver for Windows 7 and select the directory of win7 64 bit. A driver to install is offered, but after installing it, it seems as if nothing happened. No disk is detected, and I can't continue the installation.

    thx for the help

(by the way, the proposed here spell check does not recognize "Lenovo" - * lol *)

I saw this happen occasionally during installation via the USB port. In my experience, it is when a USB 3.0 or eSATA/USB combo port is present. It does not occur if start you it from a Windows existing, nor happens during the installation of optical media.

There is something that includes ImageX that you can use to install Windows, but that gets a little complicated.

  • ThinkPad Edge 15 wireless problems

I have 3 thinkpads that after a reload of fees cannot connect to wireless networks. I went through and installed different drivers wireless on lenovo Web site.

I went through several stages, others have had similar problems, but he has not made a difference.

    I have installed:

    Shortcut keys & patch

    Power Manager & pilot

    Chipset

The realtek - ethernet networking and communications LAN adapter driver

I installed and removed each available wireless adapter

    ThinkPad Edge 15

    Type: 0319-46U

On a side note in the Device Manager screen there is an alert of "Network controller" saying no driver installed for this device. I conclude that it is a Realtek device, but beyond that, I'm lost.

  • Battery Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 13 (0217) problem

    Hello guys,.

Because I couldn't find a solution for my problem, I decided to write here, hoping that someone (by a team from Lenovo or users) have the same problem and therefore can help me.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 13 model (version 0217). (I bought from a friend, because he didn't deliver more when I decided to buy it.)

I have problems with my battery. The design of this capacity is 62.12 Wh, I used it wisely, so it was not always charged to 100%. I always unload down around 5-7% and then plug the power adapter. (See image).

My first problem is that during the last 3 months, the capacity is down to 45,88 Wh and I can't really understand why. This can be a generic problem with the battery?

My second problem is - for which I found another topic here, but it did not help me - that when I charge the battery, stops at 99% of load, showing "3 minutes is remaining" and if I disconnect and reconnect the adapter, it stops like 99% saying have completely loaded. In the battery maintenance, I changed the settings to "always fully charge' Custom, but still, it won't charge the battery fully.

My third problem is that I have updated the BIOS of my laptop a few days ago, and when I try to search for an update of the firmware battery or when I do a battery meter reset, the system shuts down suddenly without any warning or something else.

I would be really grateful if someone could help me with this, I like really my laptop but it really bothers me...

    Thanks in advance.

    (1) so that you must have used it a bit and then, under the charge cycle is at 234.

    (2) don't know, but sometimes my battery the fact.

    (3) download HWinfo32 and check your system temp, and what temperature your CPU is.

ThinkPad edge 15 has all sorts of buttons on the keyboard. As the volume, mute speaker buttons button etc.

The problem is that there is a button to turn off/turn on Webcam it (marked with yellow box in the picture), but its no longer works. Whenever I push, nothing happens (instead, it shows me with this ring mouse cursor). It should show me that the camera is in power. For example, it shows me my microphone turned off.      Like this:

  • Keyboard comes out on my new Thinkpad Edge

My wife has just received its new Thinkpad Edge (0196-26U 13 "screen, Intel processor, matte black). While not as energetic as our boosted T61 or T400, it is much lighter and adapts to its needs.

Most of the keys on the keyboard feels good, but our model seems to have a flaw. The upper right corner of the keyboard tray pops out regularly. I can click it back in but there is a visible bulge and with a slight flex of the body it comes out back. In addition, the right side of the END key is depressed compared to the rest of the keys.

I provide Lenovo today to inquire about a replacement part.

    Anyone else having this problem?

Received the replacement keyboard today (the day after). It was a simple swap out. The original was clearly misrepresented in the upper right. The replacement unit has a millimeter to give in the same corner, but the framework comes out with an audible 'click'. Not perfect but does not interfere with my typing.

The keyboard is attached to the frame by tabs at the front and two screw centered on a third of the way left and right. This keeps most of the keyboard firmly in place, especially in the middle where you press the small head of gum. The corners are only kept pressed by the rigidity of the frame of the keyboard. Thus, given any incompatibility with the chassis, there got to be some give.

    That's life I guess.

  • ThinkPad Edge E531 cannot boot from CD

    Hello

just got my new Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E531.

At the moment I'm not able to boot from the CD, it will always start the preinstalled Windows 8.

I tried the F12 method to select a boot device different at startup where I can see the DVD RAM drive installed and select it, but no effect that he immediately returned to the selection screen.

I played with the various BIOS affecting disabling secure boot option and change the boot order so that the DVD drive is the first. Then the system will look for the CD (you can hear it when you start spinning upwards), but will start in Windows 8 right afterwards.

I checked with different bootable CD as well as DVD but still the same effects.

What Miss me? All other BIOS or Windows 8 settings I need to change for it.

I have other laptops Lenovo run like the X 230, the T520 or an old T61 where boot from CD never seems to be a problem.

As the DVD drive works properly in Windows 8, I guess it works in general and should not be destroyed.

    Any help is very appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

    See you soon...

    Hello and welcome,

Have you tried also to change the startup mode of UEFI to legacy?

  • ThinkPad Edge E330 WiFi turn off

    Hello everyone

I have Lenovo ThinkPad Edge E330. I run on Ubuntu. Laptop was connected to the Wifi thw and was on the sector without battery. When I put the battery unplugged AC and portable opend my wifi stoped working. It is said: Wifi is disabled by the hardware switch. The problem is that this model does not have any material pass over her body. I tried a lot of things:

    -Load default in BIOS

    -Reinstall Ubuntu completely

    -Search in ubuntu forums

    Thank you for the help

    Hello elFilipko,

exactly the same thing happened to me today and it's how I managed to fix it:

    1. I downloaded four Windows drivers as described here (tthere first of all one of the links is not active more so I downloaded this driver in its current version of support.lenovo.com - Lenovo Power Management Driver for Windows 8).

    2. I installed all the drivers on my Windows 8 (I have dual boot - Win 8 and Ubuntu).

    3. after restarting the computer and reboot back to Windows, I pressed F9 to enter parameters related to a Wi - Fi (you may have to press Fn + F9, depending on your settings). After pressing this button, a small window with the parameters related to a Wi - Fi should appear in the middle of the screen (as far as I know, this special window appears only with the version of Windows 7 these drivers, so it is necessary to uninstall and reinstall versions of Windows 8 drivers in my case). In this little window, I disabled the plane and WiFi mode on.

    4. after step 3, it seems that nothing has changed, but just after the restart of Ubuntu, the Wi - Fi was on and working.

I think a similar solution might work in your case also, just install Win 7 or 8 Win and try it.

    Best regards.

  • Glimmer of hope ThinkPad Edge 13 LCD

    Hello world

I just got my ThinkPad Edge 13 Friday and am really pleased with the look, the feel and performance. However, it is a small (maybe 5 x 5 pixels) light spot on the LCD screen, on the left side in the middle. Just to be clear: it is not a dead or stuck pixel, but a brighter patch.

This type of damage is caused by applying pressure on the back or the front of the screen, or it may be a manufacturing defect (which is probably the case here since this is a brand new laptop). I checked if it's maybe caused by a raised keyboard, but this probably isn't the case because it seems that everything is installed perfectly.

I was wondering if I can get the laptop / screen LCD replaced and if I need to contact the reseller or Lenovo (I'm located in the Netherlands)?

I want office dealers today and replaced the laptop. No problem at all.

  • ThinkPad Edge 11 screen bezel

    Hey guys,.

I recently bought a Thinkpad Edge 11 and I noticed that the upper part of the screen bezel is sitting a little fragile. If you tap on the left and right side of the bezel (just the left and right where the webcam is installed) it makes a rattling noise and whenever I open the laptop until you can hear the bezel, making a noise as the pressure of the lid closed is taken out of it.

It doesn't look like it is falling apart, but I wondered right on the 'flimsyness.

Is it something in the normal quality of the Thinkpad Edge or have I received a defective unit? I really don't want to exchange this thing once again, as it is already a replacement machine, I had because of an inadmissible SPACEBAR-. -.

    Best regards

Oh boy, it really seems to be common on some models of the edge. As I mentioned 2 units in a store more or less has also shown this problem. I get my Edge 11 now and that you will probably look elsewhere.

Actually, I bought the edge to get a better build quality than similar machines of other brands. And while the base of the unit is made of good quality, the frame of the screen seemed to 'offset' and be rather fragile :/

And not to mention the space bar does not work on my first 11 Edge. On my replacement system the space bar has also been insensitive on the side far left incidentally, but it was much less than on the first. So I guess it was ^^

I really hope that Lenovo increases build on the edge quality control! BTW, for a portable small business (like it is advertised) the edge is affordable but any low price compared to the competition (at least in Germany). So I'm expecting a little more quality for my money.

    Best regards

  • Blue screen when you try to install Windows XP on Intel ThinkPad Edge 520

    Hello

I have a ThinkPad Edge 520 type 1143-B5G with a clean disk and I need to install Windows XP on it, for reasons of inheritance. I read on the pilot of the technology Intel Rapid store being necessary, but this seems not to apply to the 520, only to 220 and 420. The recommended settings are not available on the 520 (nor is the driver itself), and the driver is listed by n/a for the 520 in the list of drivers of Lenovo. But, I always get a BSOD error just as Windows is starting from the installation DVD, after the DVD instructed all pilots, he can think about.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Would BTW - be possible to install XP in a separate partition, main alongside Windows 7, on a drive that already has Windows 7 on it? Or a clean disk is needed for this?

    Kind regards

    / EvA

    Hello and welcome,

What settings are you looking for?  It seems that there is a problem with the mode of operation of HD.  The E520 BIOS has an option to change the SATA compatibility instead of AHCI mode?  You will not be able to install a version of "Vanilla" of XP without adding the correct AHCI driver or compatibility mode.

What version of BIOS do you have?  I see this rather cryptic reference in the BIOS 1.20:

"[Fixes problem] problem reading/writing data to the SATA compatibility mode."

It is possible to dual-boot XP and 7, but the best way to do is to install XP first and then let the 7 Installer put in place the configuration dual-boot.  You would still have the problem of compatibility (IDE) vs AHCI mode.

Ah, lookinng a little further, there is a driver AHCI for XP in Lenovo driver matrix.  The readme file includes instructions on installation.

Intel SATA controller AHCI Driver for Windows

Readme for Intel SATA controller AHCI Driver for Windows

    Maybe you get.
