VISA resource error

Hi, I'm getting "the resource is valid, but the VISA cannot currently access" error. " I use a 4 x serial usb adapter.

Is it because I use modbus I get this error of visa. All of my com ports work correctly when it is connected to my other devices. Multimeter, power supply etc..

In the interactive control of VISA my devices are labeled under

It's the ony com port connected right now. I made a loopback test in labview using Scripture series and read vi and also to the MAX I can write/request to the device but there is no answer or a timeout error. I connect the RS232 to RS-485 to connect to a device of ADAM. All reviews are very helpful.

Thank you

Damien

Hi Damien

I confirm that you are experiencing an error of 1073807246 code?  It is possible that you did not close the reference to the VISA session in a previous program and as such are not allowed to communicate with him in another.

The following links explain this more in detail and show that the VISA close function required to close the references you can do during the execution of your code.  Don't forget to close the reference every time you want another program to take control of the serial port, as labVIEW does not release from default serial ports.

    Hi Woss,

    It is possible that your RIO Ethernet has some parameters of active access which is to prohibit the connection to serial ports.  You can change these settings in a position and Automation Explorer (MAX) for your device by going to the device under remote systems, expanding the category of software under it and choosing NI-VISA.  There will be a tab in the right pane of MAX called Options of VISA.  In this tab, select Server VISA > security to access these settings.

    From there, you should be able to add the IP address of the RIO device that needs to access the VISA on the RIO Ethernet server.  Once you have changed these settings, just click on register at the top of the window and allow the unit to restart.  Let me know if that helps!

  • VISA 1073807343 errors and 1073807202

    Hello everyone,

    I have several issues with the VISA 5.0.3 and LabVIEW 2010 SP1, and I don't know if or how they are related, so I'll post as much information as I have here. Please excuse the super post long, just trying to be thorough.

    Error BFFF009E (same as 1073807202 I think) appears to the MAX aperture as seen in attached ss1. When you try to open the VISA Interactive Control (IC), I get the message "failed to initialize the library VISA. The VISA interactive control utility will leave. "When I open any VI with a VISA resource and try to click the drop down arrow on the right to see the resources available, the arrow remains derpessed during a second, no field drop-down list is displayed, and then it returns to its original blank State. These problems all live together now, but before I could select BT VISA resources and use VISA IC, while I have always seen the error MAX.

    I tried to fix VISA, as well as VISA uninstall-reinstall 5.0.3 which I believe is the most recent version. No change. I also checked that visa32.dll exists as suggested in the article below. See systeminfo.txt attached to the installed software.

    This error seems to be related to an oscilloscope Tektronix DPO 2014 I connected via USB (or maybe something to do with TekVISA?). By this I mean that if the scope was connected when my computer started, this error occurs. When the field is not connected at startup, I don't see the same problems as above. Instead, I get...

    Error 1073807343 (BFFF0011) when you run a VI with a VISA resource to a serial device (see ss2), or connecting to the device in IC of VISA (see ss3). I also always see the error of BFFF009E to the MAX, but not the other problems on front. I can connect to these serial devices in hyperterminal and communicate very well here. Seems similar to the post below and also, I can't find visaconf.ini, but the solution does not apply as I LV 2010. In addition, ironically, I use VISA very well talk to the scope (whether to the MAX or LV) via USB if I connect after booting.

    http://forums.NI.com/T5/instrument-control-GPIB-serial/using-HP34401A-in-LabVIEW-yields-error-code-1...

    I use series of USB adapters made by Ultra (http://mail.ultraproducts.com/product_resources.php?cPath=35&pPath=782&productID=782 ) to go from instruments of series to my USB ports and the computer I'm unfortunately has no serial ports to be tested with, nor do I have another brand of the adapter. I know these converters can sometimes be a VISA problem, but I was certainly with it even without problem before.

    They that all seem to have intermittent problems, because I have seen both before as I have developed and pushed to go to strange as things exchanging (apparently identical) USB extension cables or restart a dozen times. This issue has been driving me crazy for weeks, I am looking for help to try to solve it finally.

    Thank you

    Ratti

    I think I got especially. Looks like it was TekVISA who got in the way, and if Visa32.dll was in the right place, it appeared (in properties > details) as the version of Tektronix, not the version of LabVIEW. After you have uninstalled all Tektronix as well as NI-VISA, he had disappeared, but no money to install or repair NI-VISA would be replaced by a version of LabVIEW Visa32.dll.

    However, with the help of the article from the link below, I discovered that the repair of the installation of the driver NI-VISA DURATION is what replaces Visa32.dll, as opposed to NO-VISA just as messages of error and other links seemed to suggest.

    http://digital.NI.com/public.nsf/allkb/B283196340462DFD86257633006DC799

    Now all the VISA stuff works again, except of course for the scope of Tektronix. I'll keep this battle for the future. Guess I just needed to talk to myself for a while.

  • How to create names for VISA resources

    Create a VI to interface with a Tektronix Oscilloscope. Tek drivers all use and transmit handles instrument VISA Resource Name to the format.

    Yesterday, I simply plugged a text string with the characters of text on the Tek pilot and it's happy. String = "GPIB::12:INSTR".

    Today, LabVIEW dislikes this incompatibility of format, and I get an error of the pilot.

    My format of the string looks OK, but I have to do something wrong. None of the tools VISA simplty interrogate the device for his VISA resource name. How to do it?

    Thank you.

  • Find VISA resources

    I have trouble finding VISA resources properly. I have no problem detection instruments that are connected on the GPIB, but after that they have detected once LabVIEW is convinced that they are there for ever more, even if I unplug and disconnect the device! The only way that the list of the connected instruments is reset completely out LabVIEW and restart it. Why is this?

    I'm using LabVIEW 6.1 (but who can not make a difference) and I attach a VI with two ways to detect if one of the four possible instruments are connected. The Subvi is used to give a command to one of the instrument, and it is able to return an error if the instrument is not connected, regardless of the situation. How can it detect the instrument as expected, but the other methods not?

    In this VI, I need detect how much, if any, and that out of four possible instruments are connected. Simple, but amazingly difficult!

    Any help please?

    James

    Well, now that you say is starting to make a little more sense. I misunderstood what you were asking before.

    Jeff Bohrer wrote: what is the selection if you look at "tools > Options > various... > automatically close VISA sessions?

    Help: "automatically close your left VISA open sessions by the application when the first level VI becomes idle. This check box is cleared by default. "This was added at some point (don't remember when), and the default value is True. It caused a lot of sorrow and complaining from users (I was a), so NEITHER changed the default value false.

    As Dennis has pointed out, there is a distinction between the resource and the instrument. When you perform an initial analysis resources will be created. There is no mechanism that automatically detects that an instrument is no longer there. In fact, when you scan for instruments of MAX, she sends * IDN? queries to find instruments. So, you must check for the presence of an instrument by actually trying to talk to her.

    Hello

    I use LV 2015, 32-bit on windows 7 x 64.  I have an SMU-1065 OR connected to the PCI computer bus.  I have several instruments in the PXI chassis included some switch cards, a scope and a PXI-4070 DMM.

    When I run the VISA resource finder, the result will show me all PXI cards in the chassis (as well as the serial port of the computer), but it won't find the PXI-4070 module.

    MAX shows the map I can run self test and open the interactive panels in MAX I saved (no alias) NAME of the PXI-4070 as "PXI-4070.

    I can also use the DMM OR-DMM pilots very well.

    the PXI - 4070 Max address is: PXI24::15:INSTR

    Have you tried to use the Configuration API of the system NOR? It allows you to programmatically query the hardware on your system. Here is some additional information on the API:

  • VISA resource name strings

    Hello

    I have a control "VISA Resource Name" on my front, according to the guidelines of the attached screenshot, which should automatically fill with the names of all the VISA resources that the PC can see.

    Is it possible to get a picture of these names as strings (via a property node, or other) programmatically?

    Thank you very much

    In the schema click Instrument of e/s > VISA > VISA advanced > VISA find resources. This VI returns an array of strings. You can type cast the string in a resource VISA type.

  • visa resource name function

    Hi good day to everyone!

    I am a beginner to LabVIEW, and currently I'm testing on a single project.

    Store device data in Server series of STS (which has 16 com ports).

    But I need to use 7 series STS server com ports. I need to read that data 7 com ports and save in a file.

    Each com port has a different function (for example the reading of data or display).

    My question is,

    (1) VISA resource name operation function for 7 com ports at the same time to a VI?

    (2) how can I choose different com ports to different functions?

    Kind regards

    Control of resources of e/s of VISA will show you all the com ports you have on your computer.

    So you just need to make 7 copies of that control and the value of each of them to another com port and use for each VISA entry and read the series of functions that you do.  (Have you looked in the example Finder to get examples of serial port?)

  • A control "VISA Resource Name.

    In LabVIEW, there is a control "VISA Resource Name" which lists all the VISA resources, is automatically updated when devices are plugged or not plugged in and has a navigation feature.

    With CVI, you can use NIDAQmx_NewDeviceCtrl () on a control of the chain, but it lists only the DAQmx resources.

    There is another function that I can use to have all resources VISA listed?

    Hey Vix,

    It seems to be the only solution. Here you will also find an example.

    I hope that helps!

  • VISA-1073807343 error code when using ResourceManager.GetLocalManager (). FindResources (filter) to detect the map of Pickering PXI

    I'm upgrading our test system for Windows 7 and NI Developer Suite 2012 DS2 in Windows XP and NI Developer Suite 2008 4th quarter. I have a problem with the help of VISA to detect devices PXI of Pickering. The problem occurs with the next .NET NationalInstruments.VisaNS.ResourceManager.GetLocalManager () call. FindResources (filter). I use the filter "PXI? * INSTR.

    To trouble shoot this problem I was using the VISA program FindResources.2008 c# example. I get the following error message when you apply the "PXI? * INSTR"filter. "Where not enough information or the device or resource is not present in the system. VISA-1073807343 (0xBFFF0011), ErrorResourceNotFound error code.

    Looking at other markets, I infer that VISA is not find the maps. I came across the same error message when I tried to launch the "GPIB? * INSTR"filter however I determined that there was a problem with the NOR-488 driver. 2. after having repaired the driver of the FindResources.2008 program would find the GPIB instruments using the "GPIB? * INSTR"filter.

    Max the Pickering cards appear in "Devices and Interfaces" and are listed as follows:
    12: PCI Device 'PXI12::9:INSTR '.
    15: PCI Device 'PXI13::13:INSTR '.

    In XP, the cards have been identified as:
    PXI12::9:InStr (Pickering 40-785-522)
    PXI13::13:InStr (Pickering 40-780-522)

    Also Max for each device, I am able to open the Panel to Test VISA.

    Any ideas why the VISA is not able to detect these cards?

    Thank you

    I thought about it. Apparently I needed Windows 7 to install the driver for cards of Pickering. I guess the "PXI VPP / VISA drivers" supplied by Pickering Test would take care of this.

    Until Windows has installed the driver of Pickering cards have been listed as a PCI device under 'other devices '. After installation, the cards have been listed under "devices PXI of NI-VISA.

    MAX the card now are listed as:

    12: Pickering 40-785-522 'PXI12::9:INSTR '.
    15: Pickering 40-780-522 'PXI13::13:INSTR '.
