Vista 32-bit resources

I have a 32-bit system vista with 4 GB of ram and a 512MB Nvidia gcard, but I was told recently that windows allows 2 GB max to be used by the app?  I play Civ4 BtS + Mods and they need of more resources that the game seems to be crashing running out of ram.  I have the latest drivers and no ram on vista check error.

Is it possible to change vista for doll on more ram for apps?  My friends have more small, older hardware running os xp and they never have the problems I have apps running (why after two service packs is Vista always lame).  I would like to upgrade to 7, but my experience with MS tells me XP downgrade is the best solution.

Hello last Skunk.

First of all, if you think that Windows Vista is lame, by all means use this horribly dated Windows XP.  Where you will find exactly the same problem.

On 32-bit Windows, applications are limited to 2 GB, the other 2 GB of address space is reserved for the system.  You can however change this for say 3 GB on Windows Vista, open a command prompt and enter "BCDEDIT/set increaseuserva 3072" and press ENTER, to put back to 2 GB just replace 3072 2048.

However unless Civilization IV is compiled with this option indicator, it won't use more than 2 GB without worrying.

If it does not support the address spaces over 2 GB, I would recommend turning down some options in detail and perhaps removing some changes in order to increase the time before it strikes 2 GB.

I would recommend upgrading to a 64-bit Windows version, which does not suffer from this limit, and therefore an application 32 bit addressing extended aware he will get 4 GB of address space at himself.  Plus, you get to use the last GB of your RAM, which is not currently used.

  • Vista 64-bit and D7360

My Vista 64 bit laptop computer connects to my LAN via a wireless router.  My printer is connected to the USB port on my router.  My computer laptop 32 bit Vista print on my printer as expected.  My new laptop 64 bit will not print.  It goes into the print queue and just stays there.  If I connect my portable 64-bit on my printer via a USB cable, it will print.  What it will take to print when connected wireless to my local network?

Did you mean that the machine is connected to the router via USB? What kind of router is it and a USB device on the router is treated like a network or USB device?

I guess that it is treated as a network device. Installation of D7360 asks if the unit is placed on local (USB) or network, if the USB was chosen first, the SAME connection through network does not work. You need to reinstall the driver (or if you know pilots, you mangle via the reguistry). By the fact that you can print via direct USB, I think the easy way is to uninstall the driver (not just delete the printer) and install it again as a network device.

  • Drivers Vista 32-bit works on XP 32 bit?

I got this HP model a6544f since a few months now and find that much too much my older hardware (scanner, etc.) and 16-bit software (which I use daily) simply does not work with Vista or a 64-bit OS. I prefer to use XP 32-bit where all happy lives on my old machine. But the driver for this system only specifies Vista 32 - bit or 64 - bit. I already added a "real" video card to get digital and put output at power level to manage this card. If necessary, I suppose I could live with the 32-bit version of Vista, but would really prefer to use XP. (I think of all the "improvements" in Vista as nothing else that candies for the eyes, and you have disabled as many of them as possible anyway.)

Motherboards are circuit boards, which don't require drivers.  Components (i.e. the device IC) soldered to the circuit require drivers.  They are made by the respective device providers. for example peripheral chips done Intel Intel, NVIDIA is peripheral chips NVIDIA, Realtek is peripheral chips Realtek, so on and so immediately.

And no, HP does not motherboards.  Even if it did, nothing would change, he wouldn't have the IC device used on the motherboard.  HP gets the device drivers to the sellers of the device, as everyone (including the motherboard manufacturers).

That said, you should have no problem getting the current XP drivers.  All devices in this system are suppliers that make drivers available to the public.  There are some sellers who don't release drivers for the public, like Atheros, Analog Devices, Broadcom (only for wireless cards), Sigmatel (IDT) and a few others, but your system does not all devices from these suppliers.
