Vista asks me to "register my PC to maximize my experience of ownership and management.

So, I recently reformatted my computer due to some strange sound problems. I used a reformat disc given by HP.

I did a ton of updates, but after a few waves of updates, my computer keeps asking me to register my computer. I had already recorded until the operating system has started for the "first time", and I recorded using it about 3 times already! It keeps popping up every half hour or so. In addition, it seems official, I can't just 'X' out of the window, or click close the window. When I select the "don't remind me more" happens in half an hour!

It's pretty frustrating, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi arch3rher0,

First check the State of Activation of Windows by checking the information system

1. click on the Start button, click Control Panel, click system and Maintenanceand then click on System.

2. under Windows activation, you can see your activation status. You can also change your product key by clicking on change product key.

Step 2: You can try a System Restore and see if it solves the problem.

As you tried to do the Windows updates, can be one of the updates is going to be the cause of the problem. After the restoration of the system if the problem, then try to do the Windows updates one by one and check what update is the cause of the problem.

1. Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.

2. in the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.

3. in the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.

4. click on finish

Note: when you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

    Hello

The pop up is usually run as a scheduled task, so open windows control panel, open administrative tools, and open Task Scheduler.  Click once on the Task Scheduler Library to highlight and look for an entry called "Webreg".  Left-click this time to highlight it, then right click and select Disable.  Restart the Pc for the change to take effect.

I recently bought a Satellite L300-1CU with Windows Vista already installed.

When I start the programs that they ask me to enter a key, when I entered the 25-character key found on the Windows sticker at the bottom of the computor as computor says it's the wrong key.

I doubt that Vista asks for a key. I think you mean Microsoft Office, right?

Well, the button on the underside is for Vista preinstalled, NO Office but normally you can see from the thumbnail (Windows Vista product key)

Also on the bottom, it indicates that this copy of windows is not genuine? Please help anyone on how I can restore this back to the original.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello

There are several methods to reinstall Vista.

    See which way suits you.

There is no Windows Vista downloads available from Microsoft.

You can contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send you a set of recovery disks.

They should do this for a small fee.

To reinstall Vista using their recovery disk/s, you start from the 1st recovery disk they provide and follow the manufacturer's instructions to reinstall:

You need to change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order:

How to change the Boot order in BIOS:

    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/fixtheproblem/SS/bootorderchange.htm

"How to replace Microsoft software or hardware, order service packs and replace product manuals.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/326246

And if you have never received a recovery disk when you bought your computer, there should be a recovery Partition on the hard drive to reinstall Vista on how you purchased your computer.

The recovery process can be started by pressing a particular combination of the key or keys at startup. (Power on / start)

    Maybe it's F10, F11, Alt + F10, etc., depending on the manufacturer.

Ask them to the proper key sequence.

And if you do not score a manufacturer of recovery on your hard drive, you should be able to make your own recovery from her disks to reinstall the operating system.

Go to programs > name of the manufacturer of your computer > then their system or recovery tools software topics for them, depending on how it is formulated.

If you can't find any reference to it, contact the manufacturer for advice on how to make these recovery disks.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer / Laptop box determines what Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Here's how to do a clean install of Vista using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft:

"How to do a clean install and configure with a full Version of Vista '

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/117366-clean-install-full-version-Vista.html

And once the operating system is installed, go to your computer manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers for your particular model or laptop computer.

And phone Activation may be necessary when you use the above installation method.

  • Vista Home Premium boots with black bands on the sides of the screen and features limited after d/l-ing Windows updates

    Hello

My Dell Inspiron 530 has recently started having problems starting. When I turn it on regularly, Windows Vista Home Premium starts with black bands on each side of the screen and your desktop extended / enlarged which does not display the start menu or the taskbar. I can navigate in the Panel, but when I click on the resolution of the screen, nothing happens and I'm unable to change the screen resolution. When I use CTRL and the mouse scroll wheel, I can reduce the size of the desktop icon, but the taskbar, nor start menu appears on the screen. I noticed that I can't start programs when the computer is in this State as well.

I think that this problem started after I downloaded a game from 3 updates of Windows, but I do not know what updates they were.

I am able to start safe mode and the office fills the screen normally. I don't know what steps I can take mode without fail to solve the problem of normal startup, however.

Please let me know I you a glimpse into this situation because it is extremely frustrating. Thank you very much for your help!

    Hello

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista. I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network.

original title: Wireless on the Fritz

I have problems wireless on my Acer laptop which has Windows Vista.  I am able to connect to my school of university network and used to connect to my home network (both are networks limited requiring a password or log in).  However, last week my computer stopped connecting to my home network (no one else has this problem with the home network).  I tried to fix the problem, but my computer says that "Wireless association failed because Windows did not receive response from the access point or wireless router."  That said also thatthe connection "(my wireless network)" has been cancelled.  This is perhaps due to a timeout or user action. »

The only different thing I did last week was click option at my University 'connect long-term' instead of 'connect short term' to their wireless network.  Maybe who has messed up my settings?  That's what my University said of his record long term: "students, faculty and staff also have an option to easily record their computer (or other wireless devices), so that it is not necessary to authenticate each day they connect from the network wireless campus, to resources outside the University.»  However, these settings are saved on their network (I can access it online from another computer), so I think it is unlikely that he messed up my settings.

I don't really know what the problem is.  Any ideas as to what I can do?  I don't want to reset my computer everything.

    Thank you!

    Hello

    You can view these methods:

    Method 1:

I suggest you to disable any program of security on your computer and check if it solves the problem.

After reviewing the question you must reactivate the security on your computer program.
Note: Run the computer without antivirus software or firewall is a potential threat to the computer; Be sure to activate security software after completing the troubleshooting steps and after identifying the problem.
    Method 2:
I suggest also allows you to check in SafeMode with network.
    Method 3:
I also suggest you to check the settings of the router firewall.
