  Long 'check for updates...' crashes and slow window updates are a currently a problem common to many users of Vista SP2 - please see the workaround suggested, I posted yesterday over BluesBlaster WINDOWS VISTA 32-BIT updates.

  I have windows vista and cannot complete the update security update for Windows Vista (KB2961072) KB2961072.  I also ran system update readiness tool. No luck.   Anyone have any ideas on how to solve this problem?

  I had a very very long list of updates from several years ago, now I see only about 60.  OS says I have SP2 yet, but it does not look like it.  What happened to the hundreds of updates?  I have updates of the .net Framework and part of last week.

• Vista - complete PC - cannot restore without a good Vista DVD backup

  I did a complete PC Backup using the tools system of Windows Vista on an external USB drive.

  When I tried to restore from it as I did the following:

  1. plugged in USB drive
  2 startup PC, press F8 until I got the recovery menu
  3. choose the option to restore complete PC
  4. we find the USB key and asked me to confirm that it was the backup I wanted to restore
  5. but then he stopped, saying that she had need to format the drive that the system recovery performed from and I need to boot from a different disk.

  6. the Toshiba restore disk is useless for this because it allows you only to return to the factory settings.

  7. to solve this problem, I had to find a copy of a Vista bootable CD. None is supplied with my laptop Toshiba A10 - d16. I found an ISO to neosmart image and allowed me to create a bootable CD. Then, I used this to boot from and was then able to restore from the backup.

  Is this correct? Is - this Toshiba not question a CD that can be used to restore from the utility Windows Vista complete PC Backup?

  Idea with an external USB device is OK and I wonder why it will not work properly.

  Please run the Windows Explorer and go to the "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\" folder and copy the file "CBS.log" in your documents folder (otherwise you can not open it) and open it with Notepad. Now I get errors. Errors that you see?

• 64 bit Vista having bad update

  I recently boguht a new computer HP laptop, Pavailion dv2 1039wm, among other problems he struggles to update to vista.  Safely update program download updates in the background with no problems, but when I restart the computer to install updates problems begin.  Updates are usually in groups of 14.  The installation progress screen goes through them both their installation, but most often remains on the 7th update for some time.  The following updates are almost as slow.  About half an hour for these 14 updates to install.  Then the computer stops, so I select the back to let that complete the updates install on the screen just before I connect.  Here's the big question.  In the 3rd phase of the installation it shows 0% progress and then stall for about 15 minutes he finally says "updated unconfigured, reversal of the changes" to the login screen.  Please help, I've had nothing that trouble from this computer and I would really like to get this right.

  Error code 80070643 is a generic error that basically indicate that an error has been detected by Windows Installer.

  Method 1:

  You can perform the steps described in the article.

• When I scan for Windows Vista Service Pack update (published 4/2009) comes in,

Everything seemed to work properly.  A few weeks ago a full scan found a worm & some virus which I removed. Now, I have a problem with the updates. When I scan for Windows Vista Service Pack update (published 4/2009) arrives.  When I click to install it, it is saying it is correctly installed (in 30 seconds) and yet he continues to come when I'm scanning for updates.    Should I restore settings again?  After looking for info on the forums of windows, I did the System File Checker to check corrupt files.  Several corrupted files appear in the details of the SFC.  But their fixation is "over my head".   I glued the SFC details below.   Hi victor,

  It would be useful to know the name and the version of the antivirus program that you use. However, in general (and frankly I can't think an exception) upgrade Vista SP1 to SP2 will not make your out-of-date antivirus.  In fact, it will improve the overall security of your system.  But just to be on the good side, I suggest that you update your AV software once you have completed the upgrade to SP2 and installed all the additional Windows updates which will become available once you do this (and you may need to run a few times to get everything as some may be presented until others have been installed).

  If you want suggestions of security software, please post your version of Vista (e.g., 32-bit Vista Business) as well as the names and versions of any software security you are currently using or have used or had installed even if you've never used (and when the definitions for the software in use have been updated).  These suggestions will be excellent and work well together (even if you can not install two AV programs at the same time, these are not all the AV programs but still aid in the detection and removal of malware, viruses and spyware.  And they are all completely FREE - nothing we suggest will not cost you even a penny and that they will be as good if not better that people pay money to get the bits.

  Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

  At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

  When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

  -Removed existing App store Cache by removing the uid/users / / library/caches/store *.

  -Removal of existing preferences to store the App by removing the uid/users / / library/preferences/store *.

  Unfortunately, no success in all these cases.  You have any ideas what to do next?

  -Reinstall the operating system from scratch.  This does not solve the problem

  Re-boot in safe mode.  Safe mode allowed me to accept updates from the App Store, but it would be really nice to not be in Mode safe all the time.
