• Setting the home page does not work

  When I run Firefox I still get Delta Homes search page. I put my home page ABC.net.au/news/ and made sure the Firefox start with "show my home page". However, it makes no difference and I get page Delta Homes when Firefox opens. How can I change this?

  Recently when I opened my firefox browser, whenever it does not open the home page. Instead, it opens to the last page I was on until I closed out of the browser. I tried to reinstall firefox, and that has not changed anything. I use windows 7.

  You can check if you have a user.js file in the Firefox profile folder that affects the pref browser.sessionstore.resume_session_once true value.

  A possible cause of this message, it is that Firefox is configured to run as administrator.

  Make sure that Firefox is not set to run as administrator.

  Right click on the desktop Firefox shortcut and choose "Properties".

  Recently I met a change when I open a new tab.   By the way... in case you meant a separate new window (Ctrl + n) instead of a new tab in the same window (Ctrl + t), which should follow the setting of your home page. No need to go in: config for this. See:

  Add-ons can also override this setting, then see my comments on this in the previous answer if Firefox is ignorant of your homepage when you open a new window.

• When you open an external link, a new window opens and displays the home page

  Updated to the latest version (36.0 Linux) and now whenever I open a link from an external application to be steam E-mail IRC or any other source, instead of the page is displayed a new window will open and then load the home page.   Apparently it seems to be a problem with an old hack in XFCE or desktop environments possible on X in general, which is no longer supported in Firefox 36. A solution fast until they solve this problem, is to open a new terminal and enter:

  (replace gedit by any other text editor you use)
  .. .and change the last two lines:

  This solves the problem for me immediately.

  Most likely, you have simply reached a point of overload with too many apps or too many browser tabs consume 100% of CPU. Try closing some of the apps when you want to open new ones.

  You can close this window if you no longer need or use Alt + Tab to switch between open windows.

  You can cleanup the preferences have a new beginning and remove possible user.js and numbered files prefs-# .js and rename (or delete) the file prefs.js to reset all default prefs, including the defined via user.js and prefs prefs is no longer supported in the current version of Firefox.
