Vista hangs on the second sleep - please help to fix it!

All, in short, my laptop goes to sleep very well after starting, CV OK but when go to sleep for the second time, it crashes before entering the sleep state. Then I turn off keep the power button down for several seconds and turn it back on.

Now the details:

The laptop is a Compaq Presario F506la and I just installed from scratch the factory OS: Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. SP2 is installed and all Windows update packages are installed correctly too. Latest driver from the manufacturer for all devices are installed including sound, video, chipset and network drivers.

The problem can be reproduced as follows:

-Turn on the computer and wait until everything is running. No CPU activity or a disc more.

-Press the sleep button. The laptop turns off the screen, the wireless, the drive, the CPU fan and goes with success in the standby state (S3). The lights flash to correctly report that the laptop is in sleep. The system displays event log the power of the same kernel 42 confirming the system is entered mode 'sleep'.

-After a certain time, by pressing the power button or the keyb jolt to the system. Everything is normal. The system event log shows Power-convenience store event 1 date and time to sleep and wake events.

-A few minutes later, press the sleep button again. The laptop turns off the screen and the disc but keeps running CPU fan and lights always. By pressing the power button, any key or mouse do nothing. Several times, the CPU fan starts to run faster after a certain time, as when the processor is very busy and need extra cooling.

-After that keep the power button pressed for a few seconds, the system turns off. Press it it lights and after selecting "start normally" on the "windows did not close properly" splash screen, I can see the system event log shows error EventLog 6008 (unexpected restart) and the error critical Kernel - Power 41 (last transition sleep was incorrect). The rest of the log entries show no significant information to look for the cause. There is no image memory either.

I tried to turn off all devices (except the video driver because without it, active sleep option is not available), do a clean boot using msconfig.exe, but the problem is still there. I don't want to just disable the sleep of the power configuration option. That's cheating! ;)

How to trace the issue of the cause? Is it possible to increase the logging level to identify the cause of the problem? Please advice!

Thank you!!!

Looks from material for me! probably try system restore if it happened after you install something or recently or LastKnownGood where choose to go in safe mode!

Also make sure your system is clean.
