Vista has stopped showing pictures

I used to see pictures of web sites and e-mail, but now just a box and a red X. If I click on the box it does not always display photos

Have you tried to use the system restore to solve the problem? StartMenu, all programs, accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Choose a restore point that is older and not a newer. This will not affect your documents, but will restore the settings of the programs used to open pictures. If this does not help, we look at either an inconsistency in file association (the program used to open the images has been changed), a parameter icon has been modified, or refresh rate of your display driver has been set too low, revealing the temporary shell icon used by windows as a placeholder of sorts, while the processor is busy drawing the actual items. (I have an antique computer dinosaur of IBM cycles at a whopping 600 mghz and under certain conditions, I can achieve roughly the same symptoms if I'm doing heavy processing in the background and I am trying to get windows back.). If this does not help you, please repost here with the exact symptoms and or extracts from the application and logs system errors, and we can try other things. Vista has stopped turning the games run for a long time. The display would go crazy and the sytem would lock. Gotta make a stop with the power button. No errors are recorded. I re-installed the game. Same thing. I reinstalled Vista 64. Same thing. I get about 3 minutes in the game and then locking the. 1 single game still work (BioShock2). COD - MW2 and COD MW lock the sytem. One is direct install, and the other is the steam. I have a video card Nvidia GTX 280 with the latest drivers from Microsoft. Before the reinstall, I tried to install the most recent NVIDIA. Did not help. Yet the locks without showing error. About half of the time it stops at my off video card a few seconds after that the display goes crazy. BioShock uses DirectX 10, and others use DirectX 11. I read on some sites that 11 causes the video crashes on some systems. I want to know is why 11 is working for so long and stop NOW. Is there a way to make the games all run on 10? COD BlackOPS crashes too. I played ALL these games over and over again until the last 3 weeks. If there was some error to post logs I would but there is not. Any suggestions on where to find some kind of problem that could cause this? The video card was removed, cleaned and put back into the computer. Still crashes. 1 in 4 of the games will take place without any problems. 3 will be blocking of the computer and the video trash in 3 minutes or less to start the game. The video is great, until blocking.

Suggestions on how to fix or where to additional troubleshooting for the cause will be greatly appreciated.

If you see the icon on the desktop, do a right click on that and then left click on properties. The window that opens has all the information you need.

If no icon, and then start Windows Explorer and right click on computer it followed by the left-click on it.

My Windows media player recently stopped playing my video files that have a. Extension of MOD, although the audio is not yet once the video is crushed. When the video freezes a computer bubble lets me know that the driver igfx has stopped working and then recovered.

I spent many hours trying to solve this problem. My graphics card is an Intell chipset and it is up to date with his driver (I checked), the motherboard is an ASUS and this is far too - I checked. I ran an auto fix and that disabled four codecs, but the problem persists. I have run the sfc / scan now processes at the prompt as an administrator and it came clear.

  • Windows Vista has stopped working

I'm trying to fix my moms laptop that has windows vista on it. I can get it to start very well is not the problem. I can sign and take an account, if I open the Task Manager to get to the desktop. In the contrary case, it freezes on the Welcome screen. The laptop only works in safe mode, but clearly this is not what I want.

I want to plant restoration of the thing. But he said that I did not restore on the computer points. I tried to go into the Protection system and I can only change the name of the computer. I'm trying to set up the restore point, but it just doesn't work. Can someone please tell me how to plant to restore this laptop until I drive me nuts?

(The model is compaq presario CQ60 with processor intel pentium dual core, clear of Windows Vista)

    Hello

System restore points are not a resumption of the plant back to new condition.

Here's how to do it with a HP Compaq laptop.

Turn on the computer and immediately press the F11 key several times , about once a second, until the Recovery Manager opens.

Or in Vista, use the HP Recovery Manager to reinstall the operating system.

It stopped working after the regular update installation of window.  I restored before the update thinking it might work, but it didn't.  The computer does not even see SD cards when you go to start/my computer via windows Explorer.  It is all SD cards and has barely begun to happen. How will I know if it's a windows problem or hardwear.

See other responses, you got and let me add the following:

Are the cards that you have tried and that work not all 4 GB or more? If so
they are SDHC cards, and it is possible that your reader reads only SD
    cards and not SDHC cards.

And you can buy SDHC USB readers from Amazon.com for as little as
$1.27 more $.50 U.S. for shipping! I have two of them - one that I keep on

  • Windows Vista has stopped auto update cannot update manually. Used windows 'Mr fix - it' returned error code: 0 x 80040154

I don't know when this problem occurred. All of a sudden I lost sound on my Windows Vista Business System. In trying to find a solution to this problem, I went to the Microsoft Fix - It Center and downloaded the troubleshooting Fix - It. After insalling the Fix - It store and then you try to run the program an error code indicating: "C:\windows\System32\dssenh.dll is not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program using Intallation to original media or software to support provider or system administrator. "before you begin to solve the problem, as well, I decided to create a restore point, then I went to windows update and had an error code: 802440F when you try to update. Go to the Microsoft site and then try to download the updates manually it immediately opens the automatic update dialog box and activating returns the same error code: 8024402F. After reading the list of error codes, the closest codes of this number were 8024402C and 80244022

and the main board seems to rerun the update with the firewall shutdown, then restart the firewall after the download. I did this and still have not solved my problem. I think I have a sound card problem, but would not interfere with the automatic windows update. I then tried the option repair on windows vista drive still no luck.

    ====================================================================

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

    A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

    ===========================================

This troubleshooting could not help if there is alignment and/or wear issues however it
    a shot.

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE
