Vista reinstallation CD

I have an Aspire 5920 laptop that came with Vista installed.  I had a virus on it, so I need to wipe it all. I did it before I realized that I don't have the reinstallation cd.  Is there anywhere I can get one?  I have tag and numbers of the product code on the label at the bottom of the laptop.  Thanks Mike

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on the box of the computer determines what Edition is installed.

Recovery DVD are other computer manufacturers should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

Call the manufacturer of your computer, ask them a set of recovery disks. The cost of discs is minimal.

Also, ask them if there is a recovery on your computer partition (they know) and ask for instructions on how to use it. For the benefits of others looking for answers, please mark as answer suggestion if it solves your problem.

  • My product key is not be accepted after you have reinstalled Windows Vista.

Using product keys Vista reinstallation (OEM)

I reinstalled Vista after failing to fix some registry errors. I threw down the front product key I have re-installed, but it's a product key which is not accepted by MSFT.  Instead of 25 numbers as it requires, I wrote a 20 (and part it says OEM).

It's good to upgrade to a version XP OEM Windows Vista and upgrade CD is not a product key. The XP CD has a product key, but of course Vista is not accepting it.  Apparently Vista stops working in 20 days, if I activate it. What is the product code I can use!

    Not worth it!

Obviously the disk did not contain certificates appropriate for the key.

Your SLIC table seems to be the appropriate injector to install a Vista, rather than installing a XP, so a recovery disk Dell to Vista so that the machine can very well work - and is much less expensive than buying a new license.

Your best option, if it comes to having to purchase a new license, is to buy a copy of Windows 7 upgrade, it would be cheaper that a full version of Vista from Dell and would be transferable to another machine if he died. ($120 MS for Home Premium upgrade of XP/Vista). You can check compatibility first, just in case there is a problem - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

  • hard drive installation / do not install the drivers before that I installed Vista

I installed a new hard drive on my laptop and then installed my vista reinstallation cd before installing reinstalling drivers and utilities cd, and now some of my drivers are missing, especially for the wireless card, so I can't connect to internet / y at - it an easy solution for this?

Install now and they will update those that are currently installed, or install the drivers, some of whom are misssing.

Go to Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need to get drivers, get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device or disc they provided but prompting directly from web site can be better because they may be more recent than those appearing on the disc. (NO Microsoft updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.

    I hope this helps.

  • Upgraded to WIN 7 can reinstall vista with a new product key the use of dual boot even reinstall disk and computer

OK, so I've upgraded windows vista to windows 7 and now I want to reinstall vista as a dual boot. I understand that my vista OEM license is now linked to the 7 upgrade, but if I buy a new vista product key can I still use the vista reinstallation disc came with my Dell laptop. I do not know because the drive is a Dell reinstall the drive, but it is on the same computer. The disk is bound to the OEM key or a different key will activate again with her.

Dell drive is related to the OEM license and, normally, the motherboard.

If you want to dual-boot, you will need to buy a separate FULL Vista / / license-product disk key.

  • Vista Home Premium key

I have a Dell XPS 420 that I use from time to time.

A few months ago, I started and received a message that the KEY was outdated (sold out)

and I would like to know how to get a new one.

I have a reinstallation disk that came with the computer when I bought it new from Dell. There are a number of key to this topic. At least, I think that's the key.

Can I reinstall Vista and use this key to get my system back up and running?

If so are there problems should I watch?

If this is not the case, how can I get a new key for one already installed?

The Dell Windows Vista reinstallation DVD applies activation Dell OEM SLP (activation of products based on a BIOS offline) then Yes you can use it to reinstall Windows Vista.

However at this point, there is little interest in the installation of Windows Vista that it reaches the end of life in the month of April. This will make more precarious because there will be no security update. Already all versions below IE11 are no longer supported and IE9 is the latest version of Internet Explorer that is running Vista. Google Chrome not is also not supported on it.

  • Is it safe to restore the Windows.old folder?

    BACKGROUND:

I have a Dell Studio 540 in Windows Vista Ultimate which suddenly crashed, then wouldn't restart, saying: "no available boot device." Apparently, the hard drive boot sector had been corrupted. After of the painstaking efforts to save as many as possible training and have unsuccessfully using CHKDSK or Seagate tools to repair the drive, I finally resorted to a clean reinstall using the Dell OEM Windows Vista reinstallation disc. I chose the option to move all old files/folders in a folder Windows.old and I am now able to start Windows. However, all settings prerequisites, programs, files and folders from the previous installation are still in the Windows.old folder. For now, I run a full CHKDSK again (and he says 'Corrupt file attribute Deleting the file record segment X X' so I hope that some repairs happens)...
But what I would do, if possible and if it will not cause problems, use the instructions in this MS support article "how to restore a computer to a previous Windows installation after you install Windows Vista." But before I do that, my question is the following:
    QUESTION:
If I had to do a reinstall of Vista due to damage/corruption of the hard drive, and if all what information has been moved to the folder Windows.old during this process, is it possible that restore the folder Windows.old to the previous installation would restore any damage/corruption existed, thus causing the problem to return or make things worse? Or should I not worry about the restoration of the old "problem"?

    Hello

You can use the restore feature if the previous installation was good.

It is not in your case; If this isn't an option for you.

You can use the windows.old folder to retrieve your data.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/932912

But the programs must be reinstalled form the original media.

And when you're done with the windows.olf folder you can delete.

"How to use the disk cleanup feature to delete the Windows.old folder after you install Windows Vista"

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/930527

And it is perhaps an idea to run Dell Diagnostics and eventually replace your drive hard if it comes up with errors.
