Vista SP1 install fails - error 0x8007000D

Hi, I seem to have this problem as well as many others, and I think I did everything to try to solve it. Can anyone help?

  • Install Windows Update fails repeatedly,
  • I have reactivated the windows online installation
  • I ran the System File Checker and it comes through ok
  • I uninstalled the antivirus I've had in the case who was at the origin of the problems

Thank you

Hi PA bear. Thanks for the advice - be the other side of the pond so unable to pull out of the tech support I just wiped the machine and started. It seemed easier than trying to clean and repair the system!

Reinstallation of Vista then doing the service pack before you can update all device drivers or install anything worked, thank you.

    Success!

I finally understood what was going on. This is a damaged registry entry.

The registry entry for the key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component based Servicing\ComponentDetect\x86_microsoft-windows-ie-setup-support_31bf3856ad364e35_0.0.0.0_none_e9aaaad1a6a385a4

content, which was supposed to be a string value entry for:
    Package_1_for_KB944533 ~ 31bf3856ad364e35 ~ x 86 ~ ~ 6.0.1.1.944533 - 4_RTM_neutral_GDR

Unfortunately, it was not of type "REG_SZ" but altered with a type of
0 x 40000001, which was identified as a binary key.

I could not initially remove/change the key, therefore, found some instructions on how to reset the permissions on your registry using a Microsoft tool called: subinacl

After the race I could rename the bad registry entry and add it back in manually, by giving the appropriate string value.

Now, I was able to install IE8, so I think everything is resolved. Going to update to Service Pack 2 for Vista soon.

Your first post was unclear: I thought you were trying to install SP1 manually (after downloading the Setup program), not via Windows Update.

When you reinstalled Windows, the free trial of Norton would have also been reinstalled (but not valid, of course). Do you have (1) uninstall the Norton free trial once again and then (2) download/run the Norton Removal Tool before you (3) reinstalled NOD32? [Yes/No]

Remember: you can always open a free support incident. See my previous response.

  • How to install Vista SP1 after fail methods of "General Resolution" and "Advanced Troubleshooting" Microsoft online?

I have Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I want to install SP1 (and, eventually, SP2 before the April deadline, deadline of 2010). I tried the "Windows Update" - it did not work. I downloaded the installation manual - it did not work. This is probably the right forum to deal with SP1 installation problems vis a vis Vista. Could someone please offer some advice on what would be my next step in the installation of Vista SP1 32-bit? To be more precise on the substantive contribution: I met this http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=101139link, which redirects to this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366and this link 947366 is where I went through resolution 1 to 4 of the resolution in a vain attempt to get SP1 installed on my computer. At the bottom of the resolution 4 that following is indicated:

Note If the problem is not resolved, this content cannot help you. So, you might want to visit the Microsoft Web site at the following address:

which of course makes back off the screen of troubleshooting altogether. I tried to call Microsoft and their lines are busy all the time. I hope that someone else has experienced this similar problem. I did much research on Google, nothing helps. I hope that someone in "Microsoft answers" can provide an answer on my question to Microsoft.
Again, my question is: what should I do to get SP1 is installed if failure of resolution of 1 to 4 of the resolution at this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366 ?

  • Vista SP2 Installation fails (error 800706BE Code) via Windows Update

I am running Windows Vista Business (32-bit) SP1 and I noticed that Vista SP2 is available for download by manually checking in Windows Update last night.  After having seen that it is a large download (more), I started the download, left my PC and left the House.  When I got home, my screensaver was away and when I attamped my password to disable the screen saver and see where I was in the process of updating, my password did not work.  Then I did a hard reboot but then could not connect under my admin user account.  I've then logged in as my wife (standard user - no password) and went to Windows Update where I noticed that the SP2 for Vista Installation fails (error 800706BE Code).  I spent most of last night and all today so far tried to solve this problem.  There are several problems here... When I click on "Install" in Windows Update, I get a message of "is not necessary: 1 update" (even when I look in the installed updates it says that the update failed).  If it is not necessary, then why is it listed as an important update that must be installed?  Endless loop... In addition, I'm not a password reset for my connection because I have a password saved on a flash drive.  Then I tried using all the older passwords that I remembered and none worked.  Shift caps lock was not on either.  I've logged in as my wife, went to the Microsoft Download page and eventually find the link to download the standalone version of SP2 Vsita, but after downloading the massive file, I didn't have the right to install it because I can not connect as an adminstator!

(sigh) Can someone please help with this?  Thank you

    Naveen,

Thank you very much for your suggestions!  Your suggestion of restarting, press F8 and choose "repair your computer" worked.  I was able to do a system restore and I chose a date where my old password was still in use (I had just been invited to change a few days before I tried to download Vista SP2).  In addition to losing my cookies and automatically complete IE8 - everything is back to normal.  I have not yet tried a 2nd try to SP2, and I'm very hesitant to do it now!

    Thank you once again!

I have a Toshiba satellite laptop computer with Vista Home Premium 32-bit. I have tried everything you can imagine on these forums - including:

-Rename the configuration files of the prompt c.
-creation of a true recovery/repair disk (Toshiba only sent a system recovery disc, not a repair disk) and attempt to run the repair from here (nothing was fixed and instead restart, he went to a black screen)
-attempt to restore an earlier point but, as many others have remarked, the installation of SP1 apparently removes all set points, so it's been a bust
-a tried to run chkdsk f / but who gave me an error indicating that the volume has been used and did not work.

NOTHING works! I can't boot my system, and frankly I'm furious that Microsoft has failed to solve this problem for 3 YEARS according to assignments in these and other forums. I've always been a devout person PC - a bit too elitist for me to Apple. But I am absolutely disgusted that I potentially have to do a complete reinstall, including downloading all my software again for all my other programs.

I am the Coordinator of health care for the County, I live in, have 3 kids to take care of and frankly, did not have the time to deal with this kind of setback. I worked on ALL this DAY, ruining the Superbowl Sunday, something that the people at Microsoft obviously don't care no difficulty. That tells you how much they care about customer support, I guess.

If anyone has found a viable solution to this problem that CREATED Microsoft with an update that was supposed to IMPROVE their Vista defective product, please, please, help! I wish I had never entered in this horrible computer vacuum! Only, I tried to download this update because I received an email from Microsoft that offers a download of Windows 2010 beta to try, and everyone spoke of so many Windows 2007 (unlike Vista) I thought I would give it a try - only to find out that I had to have SP1 to install 2010. I feel I'm in a Kafka story.

  • Get an "unknown error" so he was trying to make the Vista SP1 and the error code 800F081F

    I am running Vista Ultimate.

I installed the hotfix for Windows (KB947821). I always get the "Windows has encountered an unknown error" with the code 800F081F.

I am also having .net Framework questions (why focusing on my updates in the first place, I started). I have "fixed" but was lifting a msg of error at startup:

    > Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click on > continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If > you click on exit, the application closes immediately.

    > There is a parsing of the query error. [The line number of tokens = 2, token line > offset = 27, token s = error]. (I have more error msg if necessary.)

After you install the hotfix, this error disappeared, but I can't yet download the update of the SP1 for Vista. It is a sine qua non for SP2.

    KonfusedKathy,
I suggest that you do the following:
Start by putting your system in a clean boot State.
    Run the disk error checking
    Run System File Checker
    Run the System Update tool
If there are not only found problems that couldn't be fixed by one of them and then try to reinstall SP1.

  • Windows Vista SP1 install problem

Have ultimate Visa on computer and SP1 appears in update as long as 1.9 Mb file {KB936330}. Installation seems to go ok excepy who, after having agreed to be wary of many reboots, is seems to load in a few seconds [appears as update added] with no restarts BUT a few minutes later, the same update appears.

Tried to get around this by downloading the SP and running of the saved file. Once again, everything seems ok [several reboots this time] until step 3 of 3 is 100% full and the message appears while the SP has not then install the steps are to be set aside. • Widows vista SP1 installed watch, but still giving it to me as an unpdate, what should I do?

I installed windows vista service pack 1 as an update, and when I check the history update watch installed and successful, but when I go to update the system still gives it to me as if it was not installed. I installed again and it shows successful, but then give it to me as a new unpgrade. For me, it seems that is not installed. What can I do? I need to renew to get Service Pack 2 to be able to install Internet explorer 9. Thank you!

    Hello

Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.

It will also tell you if SP1 is installed or not.

If this isn't the case, then choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, first of all the installation of SP1.

    Vista SP1 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30

    Vista SP1 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21299

    Vista SP2 32-bit (x 86): http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=16468

    Vista SP2 64-bit: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17669

  • The update install fails error 81

Update install fails with error 81; "another installer running" I have no other installer running on this computer. All the solutions to this? Thank you!

    Hello

This error appears when there is a background running program in the machine, the best option is to shut down the machines all running processes are closed. Restart the machine, it should work.

You can also kill all processes associated with CC in the monitor activity manager task & then start.
