  • Windows Vista Ultimate EXTREMELY slow

OK, so I installed Windows Vista Ultimate on my computer, I like it, but it is extremely slow.

The shape of plug the computer are as follows:

    AMD Sempion 1.64 Ghz processor

    480 MB of RAM

    HDD 40 gig

This should be enough to start. I wonder how can I speed up a bit I've run Diskcheck and defrag and Dick Clean-up with very little progress. Just don't have the money for the extra RAM right now either so if there is a way to speed it up without buying extra RAM, I would like to know.

It's no surprise that it is extremely slow. You have * way * too little
RAM and you will never get a decent performance with this amount. 1 GB
is the minimum necessary for performance * beginning * become
acceptable for people whose needs are very light (because their)
using the application is light). But for almost everyone, is at least 2 GB
really need or that you are satisfied with the performance.

In addition, a 40 GB hard drive is * small *. This isn't a performance problem,
but unless you do not do much with your computer, you will be running
more disk space very soon. You should have at least 160 GB or more.

    Hello

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    Hi, Richard,.

Have you been able to connect to the internet on this computer so far?  Try a system restore

Have you tried to use a different web browser to connect.  Is the same behavior?

Check if your network card appears in Device Manager. If it is there, check yellow exclaimations next device Network adapter Manager. You can also go to the manufacturer's website and check if an update for your network card.

If the network adapter exists and works, try resetting the TCP/IP stack:

To reset the stack TCP/IP go to this article and either click on "Fix it for me" or follow the instructions to fix it yourself:

  • My laptop Vista with Atheros AR5007 802. 11 b / g adapter does not connect to the internet using the local area or wireless network connections

I just bought a new router d-link wireless n for my house.  Connect my Win 7 Desktop, laptop xp to Acer and multitude of other devices, but my laptop Vista with Atheros AR5007 adapter does not connect to internet.  I tried to disable IPv6, defining the name of the network, flushing dns cache, etc..  Nothing will work.  (It would not connect to an another 802.11n router in January either.)

I get local only on both connections Wi-wired and wireless, no matter what I do.
I'll send this to my office that I can not connect my laptop to the internet and he does not see the other machines on the network.
Any suggestions from anyone?  I spent hours trying to solve the problems, now completely stumped.

    OK, here was my fix:

I tried a lot of things, but they do not work.  I downloaded a 'new' driver of HP - it turns out it was the original with the problem.  I found another one that was about a more recent months, still does not work.  I finally managed to get the atheros.cz driver for my card files.  But they do not have an installation file.  I had to search for each old file in its directory, copy it to another place (to be sure, just in case) and then copy and replace the old file with the new file in the original folder.  Fortunately, there were only 6 files, but it took about an hour and a half.  This isn't a lot of time compared to the 18 or if I was just trying to figure out the problem.  Now, my laptop connects to the internet without problem.
I had this problem with a router "n" beginning of the year in a hostel.  The guy in the Inn told me that he had seen before once.  It's obviously a common problem with these cards (as seen on the "solutions" online) and Vista.  I'm always hating on Vista after this problem.

    Robin,

It's the support page from Dell for your computer--> http://www.dell.com/support/my-support/us/en/04/product-support/servicetag/JHDFR1S/config?s=BIZ

As near as I know, your Optiplex was conducted in Australia.  If you are indeed in Australia (and you probably, if you have a modem/router of Telstra), I have no information on what products could be made available to you or where you could buy them.

My personal preference would be an adapter that includes a cable for the antenna is not positioned between the back of your computer and the wall.  However, if your computer will be less a few meters from the router, there is not much difference, and you can use an adapter that looks like a USB key (or smaller).  My guess is that all of the products on this page might work for you--> http://www.mwave.com.au/networking-wireless/adapters-addon-cards-wireless?view=40&pricerangeid=1&filter=383%3Dusb&filteroptions=383%3Dinterface that the correct driver should be included on a CD supplied with the appliance.

  • Application of blackBerry Smartphones that requires credentials at startup only

    Hello

I don't know if I'm posting in the right place, otherwise, please my present his apologies. I'm looking for an application that requires credentials only on startup and in case the password is entered 3 times incorrectly, the device is reset.

I have a BES server and I would like to stress that to be managed from there.

Is there a software to recommend?

    Kind regards

    POY

I think that there are four events that activate the locking password.

    (1) the icon screen - locked the BB "we demand."
    (2) the configured time-out value - between 1 minute and 1 hour (at least on mine)
    (3) holstering - you can force it to lock (a selection of the configuration)
    (4) restarting the device

If all goes well a combination of those that meet your needs. Otherwise, you will indeed get a few add-on (and I somehow doubt that one exists since this security feature is already robust enough and meets the needs of most everyone).

    Good luck!

  • Have Vista Ultimate. You want to upgrade to Pro 7 I don't need the ultimate "extras." Any way to do it without having to re - install all the applications?

Install many applications so that it would be a tedious exercise if I have to do a cleaning...

If the license for Windows 7 Ultimate, you have access to is an upgrade of retail full version or upgrade Express, you can use the product key and upgrade Express from Windows 7 Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate. First of all, check that the edition of Windows 7, you are upgrading is already enabled (if it isn't, you will encounter complications and that you might start all by performing a clean installation). Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, click on the option enter a key, enter the key of Windows 7 Ultimate edition at the request, click Next, wait while checking the key, accept the license agreement, click on upgrade, wait while the software upgrades, (it may take 10 minutes or more depending on the if updates are required) your computer restarts automatically, after the reboot, Windows 7 will notify you updating the computer, the computer will restart once more automatically and will be completed the upgrade, a window will appear notifying the upgrade was successful and your computer is ready to use, click Close, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate files the stored settings and programs.
