Vista - update failed (KB2719177)

I'm unable to install KB2719177 the update Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 9 for Windows Vista for x 64 - based systems. The update seems to have downloaded, but when you restart the computer it is trying to install, but fails.  He failed repeatedly.

Yes, N360 v6 was installed when I did the clean install...

(Yes, I give the Tech this thread first thing when I called yesterday...)

Call support level 2 MS Tech technical:
No joy... After more than two hours on the phone again today.
Both the tech yesterday and today, has repeatedly tried to UNINSTALL IE9, but he has refused to let go.  I think sincerely that they both were doing everything possible to solve the problem.  Their bottom line was essentially the same as your recommendation: re - install Vista, and then reinstall all my programs.  Because I do not have the Vista disc (came pre-installed) they send me one.
However... Since my computer is almost 5 years old... and a lot of my other programs come pre-loaded (no disc to re - install...), I think I'll opt for door #2... and get a new computer!
Thanks again, Robert - you did a great job, and I learned a lot!   Peggy

Currently have 11 major updates that fail to install and 29 in option. I tried to install update 1 at a time, reboot the PC and the system then crosses recovery of Windows startup. I installed the latest version of Windows Update, I renamed directories distribution Catroot2 and software. I tried to install SP1 and the system response with SP1 already installed, I tried to install SP2 system responds with SP1 must be installed. Any help, conventional wisdom greatly

    Alan,
You execute all stages of this link as Halima provided: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366
Specifically have you tried 3 and 4 of the resolution?  If this isn't the case, then try them.
    If so, then try this:
Disconnect all external devices (except keyboard and mouse)
Perform a clean boot , and then download the stand-alone SP1 (which looks like you already have it).
Disconnect from the internet, and then try to install SP1.

If this still fails, check the error code and after that you have achieved.  You can also consider the possibility that you have a virus\malware infection.  Take a look at these links.

  • Vista update fails, takes 30 minutes to come back!

It's been a week now, whenever I turn on the PC or reboot, Vista will update... 15 minutes later, I get the message (updates are not configured correctly, returning any changes... Do not turn off your computer) and then I have to wait another 15 minutes to get him back! Now, all I have in the start menu is: note pad, calculator and backup and Restore Center! It becomes very annoying. Please advice. It's windows Vista Home Basic, SP2, 32-bit.

    Hi HeshamEtaby,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums!

Of after the description of problem that I understand that you can not install windows update on the windows vista computer, and it's back to the desktop.

-What do you mean "I have in the start menu of note pad, calculator and backup and Restore Center"?

    This give a try.

Note: After a repair, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 3 in the Knowledge Base article.

    Method 3
The problem can also be caused by your security such as anti-virus program that can have conflicting parameters as to not not to perform certain tasks. I suggest you temporary disable the anti-virus and check the result again. You must activate new security that you was disabled programs.
    Disable the antivirus software:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/disable-antivirus-software

Once we install the updates, please turn on the firewall.

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    3. we will give you a choice of uninstall/change, click it.

  • 80244019 MS VISTA UPDATE FAILURE?

MS Vista UPDATES failed, for the past few weeks, when I check (automatic updates turned off).

    Same error code 80244019 shows.

    The clues, please?

I fell right on this issue while reimage of old machines for their dismantling factory image.  I also sometimes ran into a situation where Windows would be "check for updates... "forever.

A lot of material that I ran a DNS virus spoke, but given that I had just reimagee them, I knew that this was not the case.  I've also seen articles on complicated and tedious of compensation ways and the reset of the Windows components updates.  Those who did not work for me.

It seems to me have stumbled across two possible solutions:

    1. make sure that the PC will not go to sleep or hibernation and then let the machine run its updates automatically.  Assuming you have the machine, by default, it checks the updates every day at 03:00, which of course, you can change.  In my case, the machines would be error if I tried to run Windows Update manually, but they would run successfully if I allowed them to run automatically.

    2. the other thing I did was change the value of Data Execution Prevention.  I changed, applied the change, then it changed back to its original value and the change still applied.  Reboot, and it works... for the most part.

I often solve the problem during update cycle or two and then do it again.  I have to restart and adopt one of the strategies that precedes all over again.

    Hope that helps.

  • Vista update may not download due regulationn.

It is a complement to "Vista update fails KB2808679"

I watched windowsupdate.log - it is filled with "Update unable to download due to regulations."  KB2808679 is the only problem.

I thought that Microsoft has helped with update problems; so far, my original message is unanswered, and to 'regulation' everything that I find is 'server busy '.

I have invested a lot of time in a backup system.

  • Problem installation Vista updated and now the Vista operating system unbootable - help

Here it is the description of what has past.  Ive been through everything I can do and am now stuck with a code of 0 X 4001100200001005.

I worked with Microsoft Vista forum group of answers, but I'm not back upward and running if Im going back to HP for assistance.  I hope that we can achieve together.  This all started when started Vista updates failing.  I got the 1 3 install stuck on the 2nd about three weeks ago.

Here is a list of what I've done so far
I have an old HP DV9410us for a year which will not restart after installing updates.  It comes to configuring updates step 1 from 3 to about 98% and then stops.

It then says unable to start windows and start the repair program windows for about 5-10 minutes.  He said that you want to use the system restore.  I tell Yah Why Not.  Then, it will stop and start the cycle.

The error in the Startup Repair States the following

After a bunch of tests successful

    Root cause found:

    c:\ntoskrnl.exe is corrupted.

    Repari Action: Repair of files
Result: failed.  Error code = 0xa
    Duration 6521ms

    Action repair system restore
    Result: Completed successfully

He then returns to the cycle all over again.

I turned the clock to October with F10 at startup but that did nothing.

I checked the hard drive for the short and complete and checked everything.

I dug my recovery disks I did ago about 10 months after I bought and used to return to the top of my hardrive.  I was all ready for a MAC at this point.

I went back to the HP Recovery program and tried to restore an earlier version of a well-known operating system.  The Manager of recovery disk wont work so I used the Recovery Manager disk.  There is no old configs to this true its in step 2.

I'm now trying to perform a factory image recovery.
Reload the operating system.  It started and got to 13% after 20 minutes and gave me the following error code.

During this process, I have an error that had the code 0 x 4001100200001005.

It is the reformatting of repeat of the Windows Partition.

Is this a Vista update problem?  Have you seen this before?

I'm doing a factory restore and will let you know if this operation fails.  I just wanted to get this thread started.

I really appreciate this forum and any help you could give me.

If you had an error in "configuration update 1 3-3 3 ' which would be a problem with windows update.

to fix this, you'll need a factory image recovery if you can not access other modes for windows. But youy mentioned that you had a 0xx000x... (similar to code) error... try checking the hard drive and memory modules health... threr could be a problem with these devices, you can access it through the bios settings (turning on laptop, the moment you see hp invent screen, press f10) go to the diagnostics section, run the memory test and that hard drive test

very probably with the error you have, you might have a hard drive problem.

most of my clients (I am a specialist of the laptop of beak) with that problem and stuck on a boot loop or may not switch from windows, 95% of them had a hard drive failure.

  • Update failed - Vista updates

Display all installed updates, most "managed" in the descriptor, but many have "failed". Are these failed updates too hard disk space? If so, how can I recover this space? I have 4 separate instances of 'fail' Win XP SP3. But I installed a legal copy of Windows XP Office Professional with FrontPage on my computer (it works perfectly), so I thought that XP SP3 would be advantageous. It turns out that it wasn't. (I know, I am running Vista Home Premium, but that was before I knew what I was doing with Windows Update). Can anyone help?

You must do what I suggested... If you want to UNINSTALL an update. Don't are not updates failed

  • Vista - update security KB982381 fails with the error Code: 80071AA7

Update Cumulative security for Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista still fails to install.  At the beginning I had 6 automatic updates which could not install (usually NOT a problem), so I individually installed each... reboot after each update.  Success on those.  I tried to update KB982381 more than 8 times without success.  I don't use IE as my browser.  My computer is constantly trying to install this and reboot... never works.  Don't know what to do.

I did everything you suggested in the last email and I am sorry to say that the update has failed once again.   I use Mozilla Firefox as my browser, but I open IE * to run its difficulty etc.  I ran Windows Update (reset) in aggressive mode (what settings it reset?  I noticed when I went to the Control Panel, to look for updates and it listed that it is 'never' updates etc.).  When I did find updates sent to download, it came with one that was a failure and the other for Windows Defender.  This one has installed fine.  Let me know what I should try!  Thank you
