VISTA update to SP2

I just tried to update my system Windows VISTA with Service Pack 2 from the Microsoft Downloads.  Update seems to work and I started to date of message 1 of 3 and 2/3 update before you get a message that did not update.  Now, the whole system is almost unusable.  How a Microsoft Update can totally destroy a system.  I don't have IE, no restoration, wireless.  What can I do to get it back.

  • Vista - just got the update to SP2 (is this normal?)

I just want to check if this is normal. I downloaded and installed quite a few updates since SP2 release date, but were only invited to install SP2. Should I install?

I don't know why it took so long to ask you, but install SP2 is a good thing, then I suggest you certainly do.  If you encounter problems, Microsoft Support always offers FREE for Vista SP2 support at:https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?prid=13014&gprid=582034&st=1&wfxredirect=1.

SP2 contains several important updates and changes - it must be installed on all Vista machines.

    I hope this helps.

My system (Vista 32-bit SP2) tried to install update KB980248 for several weeks, but I keep getting error code 80073712.  I tried to follow the directions on the site by running the system preparation tool update... did not work.  Then I tried to go back to a restore point and try the update again.  Yet once, didn't. I went back several restore points, but it has always failed.  I don't have an installation DVD, because it came with Vista preloaded.

  • Windows Vista SP1 uninstall SP2 and viseversa

My laptop will not automatically updated Vista SP1 or SP2.  It still fails.  I decided to download the standalone update from another computer, and then download and install on my laptop.  The problem I encounter is when one is installed it is uninstalled and the automatic updates icon opens with an important update that ends up being Vista SP1 or SP2, whatever one is in front of the update installed.  Can someone help me understand how to solve this problem?

  • Impossible to install Vista updates

I use Vista 32 bit, family premium, SP1, latest installed update is KB955430. Download and install the updates seem to work - until the moment where my system wants to "configurations". Here, the system stops and removes the installed updates.

    What I've done so far:

-Tried to install SP2 - no success

-Tried to install the file "MicrosoftFixit50202.msi" - with no success

-Tried to install the file "au_check_v78f.exe" - no success

-Follow all the steps (manually, too) of http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?scid=kb%3ben-us%3b971058&x=10&y=4 - unsuccessfully

The 'CBS log.zip' file indicates a missing file without saying which file it should be.

It makes me crazy... Please advice what else should I do to install the latest Vista updates successfully. Thank you very much.

Download and run the preparation tool for Windows Vista (KB947821) system update. He's trying to fix the problems, which may prevent you from installing Sp2 and other updates.
