Vista video codecs problems

I was directed here to ask this question, by admin.
«After that 18 months using Ubuntu, and then buy scammed to ot try a second Windows 7 license my laptop has its origin back to Vista Home Premium.»  It is a recovery disc, it is a Toshiba Equium L40.
After the luxury of Windows 7 and Ubuntu, I'm running many codecs, it seems.  Media Player will not play some files converted avi (my Flip camcorder mp4 files converted) even if it's a Windows thing.  also, when I look in the tabs of the properties of a video file, a flow which should be in the area of 10 000 to 20 000 kbit/s in general, said a tenth of that, where the same file looked in Windows 7 on my desktop pc (genuine license and original media bought from Comet in the United Kingdom) the flow is correct.  I have installed Vista service packs and updates.
Can I fix this easily?  I think I remember try a third-party codec pack once before this resolves things, and I'm also suspicious of the resources these things about viruses etc..  At Microsoft itself corrected this with a trustworthy codec pack perhaps?
Thank you. »

You know quite well by asking or by downloading a local copy and these hosting or those who created the video by checking with something like gspot.

Media Player cannot play, need to video codec not installed.  What codec?  Where do I get it? How to install it?

    Hello

The video codec that is required to decode and display the video can not be installed on your computer.

Today, there are hundreds of audio and video codecs in use. Some were created by Microsoft, but the vast majority of codecs have been created by other companies, organizations or individuals. By default, the Windows operating system and the player includes a number of the most popular codecs, such as MP3, Windows Media Audio and Windows Media Video.

    Method 1.
How to determine what codec is installed and how to install it automatically?
    a. to determine what codec was used with a specific file, play the file in the player, if possible. When the file is playing, right-click the file in the library, and then click Properties.
    b. on the file tab, look at the sections of video codec and Audio codec.
Download and install the Codecs by going to the PLAYER tab and check.
    c. connect you to the Internet and Download Codecs automatically.
For more information about codecs, see the articles below:
    Codecs: Frequently asked questions
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/codecs-frequently-asked-questions

    Method 2.
If you know the name of the codec or its ID (called a id FourCC for video codecs or a WaveFormat identifier for audio codecs), try the search on the Internet. Often, you can go to the codec manufacturer's Web site to download the latest version of a codec.

  • Update the video Codec - Windows 7

I have windows 7 and you must update video codecs, specifically WMVideo Decoder DMO, version 6.3.9600.17238

I currently have version 6.1.7601.18221. According to me, the filmmaker uses this codec to encode the videos that I do. I think this codec is making my videos much darker, so they should be.

Where can I download these codecs?

May be that the video file format is not compatible with Windows Media Player.

    Options: -.

1] download and install VLC Player. It's free and supports file formats more than WMP.

2] download and install the codecs

Personally, I prefer VLC Player-if you have that then not need to download and install the codec of any third party.

  • Remove video codecs for wmp 12?

Anyone know if there is a way to remove video codecs for wmp 12?

    Hi Jds1966,

    1. why you try to uninstall the video codec?
2 are you face any problem of video playback?
    3. you receive an error message?
Yes, you can uninstall the video codec to your computer.
First of all, try these steps below:
    a. go to tools.
    b. click on options.
    c. click the Plugins tab.
    d. here you have the plugin displayed in each category.
If it is not displayed, then we you must uninstall the software that makes the codec installed like nero, roxio, divx, quicktime, etc.
You can also determine what codec was used with a specific file, play the file in the player, if possible. When the file is playing, right-click the file in the library, and then click Properties. On the file tab, look at the sections of video codec and Audio codec.

Then you can uninstall any installed codec and install that you need to do the job file.

If you have several codec for the single file to work they can clash and cause problems.

  • Media Player will not work "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer."

I currently have Windows 8.  However, when I try to play a seminar online on the internet, I get the following message is displayed:

Windows Media Player can not play the file because the required video codec is not installed on your computer.

Can someone point me in the right direction to solve this problem?

    Please and thank you!

    Hello

Welcome to the Microsoft Community forums.

I understand that you are not able to play a Webinar on the windows computer using Windows Media Player 8.

I would be grateful if you can provide us with the following information to help us better understand the issue.

1 you get an error code or the name of the codec to install?

    2. are you able to play other files with Windows media player?

    3. What are the file format of the multimedia files that you are not able to play using Windows media player?

    4. are you referring to the video file saved using Webinar?

This problem is caused if the file format is not supported by windows media player.

Codec compresses or decompresses media files. Windows media player uses codecs to play and create media files.

See the link below for the types of files supported by windows media player.

You can also refer to a link to find out what codecs are installed on your computer.

I'm new to video - just started studying 3 weeks ago.  I downloaded the trial version of Premiere Pro to determine if it is the video editing software that I wish to buy.  However, I'm so frustrated!  When I went to export my first video to QuickTime using the preset 'PAL H.264 AAC 48 kHz' (for the purposes of the assignment) it comes up with an error "Incompatible video Codec found in the present. Preset failed. "After trying all the presets, it seems all five H.264 presets have this same error message.  I tried Googling solutions online, and it seems that many people have had this problem but I can't seem to find a solution.  I'm under Windows8, and a forum suggested to install the latest version of Quicktime, but made no difference.  I wonder if there is a problem with the trial version but don't want to buy the product if I'm still having these issues.  Help... my missions are now two weeks late and my host is a loss as well!
