  It depends on how you import your photos. You can define a new preference in (screenshot below showing the relevant section arrowed in red) and usually if you use for example 'Windows' a date folder will be created for each import so that the numbers are not duplicated.   The KB967912 refers to the essentials automatic updates. A workaround for this problem is uninstall all MSN "stuff", resettlement using the latest version, which includes this update.
