Vista will not start and the recovery disc does not

Hey all,.

Vista has just started to freeze during the boot at crcdisk.sys today

I tried using the recovery disk, but it won't work, says the root prolem is corrupt system or something like that.

If you need more information please ask!

Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance!

Hello

Yes, it would make a difference to what is the Startup Repair tool. Vista startup repair only works on his own Bootstrapper. You replaced one with GRUB, so you should use the ' nix tools to fix it. However, you indicated earlier that the problem occurs after the start load Vista, so this isn't something the Startup Repair tool will correct and is not likely to solve your problem.

Your running recovery disk will also likely be wipe the GRUB bootloader, but you don't really have a lot of options when it comes to a corrupted installation. If you are unable to correct the problem to running chkdsk, then it is unlikely that any other action will work. You're stuck with the relocation.

    Hello

    What happened exactly?
Do you receive error messages by using the recovery disk?

Check if the HARD drive is OK! You can check in the BIOS.
If the HARD drive is listed in the BIOS then the HARD drive and HARD drive found BIOS is not dead.

Usually, you might start Notepad with the help of a Live disc for example Bart PE
    It s a bootable windows CD/DVD live

This can allows you to format the HARD disk, and then use the recovery disc!

    Hello

I have a toshiba Satellite C650, who has recently developed with a disc read error. I want to access the command prompt to try some possible solutions I've read on the internet.

I made a Windows 7 recovery disk using my other acer laptop which has also installed Windows 7 64-bit. When I use the recovery disk and it loaded the files etc it evokes just a black screen and the cursor.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening?
I tried to start my computer acer laptop from the recovery disk and it worked fine.

As is - this does anyone have suggestions as to why I get the message "disk read error - press ctrl, alt and delete to restart?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

On this virtual path, it is not easy to offer the exact diagnosis, but of course, there must be a problem with the HARD drive. Can you get a second one for test purposes and exchange it. Just to be sure if the HDD is troublemaker.

  • surcurity essentials does not start, and the windows firewall does not illuminate

    Hello

I have a problem, he seems to have had a virus on my pc. Essentials of security does not illuminate and the windows firewall will not also turn on, I tried to use the tool to "fix" windows and it doesn't solve the problem.

the original virus seemed to rename its self as a program existing and renamed the oringinal by a space in the name, for example "adobearm.exe" became "adobearm .exe" there is a space before the dot.

The virus called his free adobearm.exe icon because it is a yellow / orange with a letter H, at the Center

different file name her seemed to be part of the virus included "ag7yl5x8.exe".

If you tried to close them in the task manager that they just either came back or a different file name would appear in the list.

I also couldn't do a windows update, but I think as the tool to 'fix' as cured this problem.

    Can someone help me please.

So the questions are now fixed, unless you put the other disk hard?

    Test the other hard drive.

Go to the website of your computer manufacturer > find specifications of hardware in your computer (hard drive) > access the Web Hard Drive from the manufacturer site > download their diagnostic software > make a Bootable disc > test your hard drive.

And run the F12 as I advised you to do so.

    It is DELL's Diagnostics software.

  • "Error message: Verifing DMI pool Data data ', 'Boot from CD' and Vista will not start.

Vista will not start. Yesterday I had a remote assist of a tech trade SPS who took several Java updates and installed the recommended Java version. Until I left work the day I closed my computer so that he could install the updates from Microsoft. After the updates were finished I he turned and left for the day. When I arrived this morning, I had was a black screen and 2 lines of text following: 'Verifing DMI pool data' and 'Boot from CD' and a cursor flashing beneath them. I downloaded and executed a Western Digital utility that showed no problems with the hard drive, put in on the installation disc repair service is no error. I did a system restore to a point since yesterday morning, and Vista still does not start. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hi JohnHorky,

    Step 1:

First check and make sure that all physical connections on the computer are correct.

    Step 2:

Alternatively, you can try to run a Checkdisk and check.

    a. Insert the installation disc.

    b. restart your computer.

    c. click on the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

    d. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    e. in the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt

    f. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER

    Chkdsk /f /r X: (drive letter)

Note: When you run the checkdisk, there are risks of data loss you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    g. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.

    h. close all applications and restart the computer.

Note: When you run the disk check, there are chances of losing data if you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    Step 3:

Check if the automatic hard drive in the BIOS (Basic Input/output System) is enabled and save settings and check if it works. If it doesn't, contact the manufacturer of the system for more support options.

I also suggest that you install the latest update of the basic system of input/output (BIOS) on the computer by contacting the manufacturer of the computer and check if it helps.

Important: Change to the BIOS/complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Vista will not start! Black screen, no mouse, no cursor pointer. Startup Repair cannot repair. Details say 'wrong pass '. What is the correct syntax for pkgmgr to uninstall?

Vista will not start!  Black screen, no mouse, no cursor pointer.  Startup Repair cannot repair.  Details say 'wrong pass '.  It looks like all the files are well intact on the disk.

What is the correct for pkgmgr syntax when you try to uninstall an update by using a command prompt when starting Vista OS disk?  I entered the following in the "x:\Sources >" prompt:

    start /w pkgmgr/o: "C:\; /Up:Package_1_for_KB2840149~31bf3856ad364e35~x86~~6.0.1.0 C:\Windows.

When I run this command it ends quickly and when I run 'echo %errorlevel%' I get '5', which seems to mean 'access denied'.  How am I supposed to have access to remove the patch?  Am I missing something?  Perhaps a switch in the syntax to access?  Help, please.  Thank you.

I tried both options that you recommended.  As initially stated, no boot option would produce something other than the black screen.  I tried to boot from a drive and restoring the system running, but she didn't, and when I tried to do it again the recovery console could not find restore points. ?.

An update, the computer is now fixed.  Oddly enough, I ran recovery of starting a drive at least 8 times and each time I checked the details and he said: he ran chkdsk without error and return to the same cause "a patch is preventing windows to start.  I even ran chkdsk c: /f from a prompt command from the recovery disk and it found no errors.  That's when I posted the question above after trying to remove the patch in the manner described above.  After some time and frustration, I decided to run chkdsk /r c:.  It took awhile, but it found 1 bad sector, moved the data, the bad sector tag and finished.  Once I restarted from that, everything came and went very well.

So, the original question remains, what was missing in the command to run pkgmgr/high: successfully.  And the new question exists as to why start Recovery claims run chkdsk if it does not, or he turns the version/f not the version/r the same as I did manually?  It would be good to know for the future.  Thank you!

    Hi Jeff,

    1. you receive messages or error codes?

    2. did you of recent changes on the system?

If you are able to boot into safe mode without any problem, you can try to perform a clean boot and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.

You can read the following article to put the computer in a clean boot:

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

Note: After troubleshooting, be sure to set the computer to start as usual as mentioned in step 7 in the above article.

    Method 2:

If you are always faced with the question, then you can check if you can start your computer by using the known last good Configuration feature and fix the problem.

You can read the following article to do the same thing:

Using the last good known Configuration

    Method 3:

If the steps above fail, then you must have a full version of Windows Vista disk and try to perform a repair of the boot to WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment) boot from the installation disc.

If restarting fails, then try to perform a restore of the system to WinRE (Windows Recovery Environment).

For more information, you can consult the following article:

  • Recovery disc does not work after the failure of the system.

    Hello world

I got an error yesterday while booting which says "not found no startup disk." I disconnected and restarted at a black screen. I panicked. I got out my hard drive and made sure it is properly connected, and it was.

I decided to try to see if it was the operating system that crashed. I put my original recovery disks in the computer. Here are the ones I made when I bought the computer new in box Office Depot. I put the discs and the message "loading of system files", said. I thought I was home free. And then the error is come that indicates the serial number not recognized? Can someone tell me what I should do to fix this problem?

After that I got the message. I turned the power to the computer is turned off again and put the disc in and nothing but a black screen. I used the recovery disc once before when the computer has a virus so I know they work. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hello

Seems to me that it is a corruption with the hard drive.   Check if you can access the SafeMode

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

You can try a system restore by using the F8 key. http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/76905-System-Restore-how.html

Black screen problems are usually not repairable, because it might be a corruption with hard drive. And what about drive recovery, you might receive this error message because the drive is damaged. It would be good if you contact your manufacturer immediately.

  • Windows Vista will not start or repair.

    Greetings!

I'm having a problem with my computer. About 2 weeks, my Windows Vista out of nowhere began to fail in the market with the infamous and hated "cannot start Windows, a recent hardware or software may have... "and the options of start that none who work. I tried to fix it several times, but Windows would only start for an hour or two, and then the screen would go black. When I tried to start up, he would go back to the Windows cannot start message. I then completely reinstall windows, but every time I try the black screen comes back and the windows do not message starts again. I then tried to boot from an Ubuntu disc and install it, in vain the same black screen and message windows after that reload will appear. Now, the computer will only start with the windows form has failed every other power-up, otherwise the black screen appears. I looked inside my computer and everything is plugged tight, and I just checked my drive for errors of law before the failure, so I don't know what could be the cause of this.

    Help, please!

    Thank you very much!

    Hi noblesb,

First disconnect the external devices connected to the computer except the mouse and keyboard.

I suggest that you try the startup repair using the windows vista installation disc.

    1. Insert the installation disc.
    2. restart your computer.
    3. click on the Start button, click the arrow next to the lock button, and then click restart.
    4. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.
Note If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings. For more information, see BIOS: frequently asked questions.
    5. choose your language settings, and then click Next.
    6. click on repair your computer.
    7. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.
    8. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair.

Check out the link for more information below.
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/how-do-I-fix-a-boot-startup-problem

If the previous step fails then check if the computer is able to boot into the advanced boot options.

Steps to start in safe mode

1 restart your computer if it is running.
    2. tap on the F8 key after your initially on powers computer.
    3. Once you see the menu Advanced Boot Options, you can stop tapping.
    4. use the up/down arrows to select your selection.

  • Hard drive replaced, but the recovery disc may not work properly

Oh here, my laptop (Acer Aspire 7730) will not start.

I believe that I made the correct recovery disks when I got the machine before he fell, but I recently replaced my keyboard and hard drive with the same components after damage was inflicted on my laptop and I tried to run the steps in Acer recovery since the restore disc 1. He seemed fine, but after installing the 2nd disc I have now "BOOTMGR is missing" "Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart" and cannot get it to load the backup that I did when the machine was working before-hand. I can get into setting up and see that the hard drive is now identified in the list of hardware (it was empty when the broken hard drive was still mounted), maybe someone can suggest some options to solve the my problem please?

I just checked the recovery disc 1 on another machine and found these folders and files on it...

    http://i812.Photobucket.com/albums/zz48/Vanguard_01/VistaBootdisc1.PNG

Is it possible that the backup that I did was for a specific hard drive, and because this HDD is different it won't find anything?

    Thank you

    Vanguard_1

Hi Debleena5 and thanks for the suggestions, but I've reached the re-installation of the disc by using a bit 'out of the box' the thought process.

I bought a box 2.5 "SATA to connect to any computer via the USB port to try to get something on the corrupted hard drive, but this failed. I then removed my new hard drive (which began at start up OK, as I mentioned in the question above) and placed in the case and plugged into my Windows 7 laptop. Once he had run up to speed I started to explore to see what files (or even at all) had been transferred during one of my recovery disks. I've not found much until I changed the "do not show hidden files and folders check" save a file that has been locked after you change the permissions, I went further and ended at the request of then ran CHKDISK and of course he scanned my drive and found and corrected some errors very quickly. After that, I unplugged then I went back to my Vista laptop and re-inserted the new hard drive in the broken machine.

At this point, I was wondering if the disk drive on the machine may also have been damaged so I plugged a DVD player external via USB and changed the sequence to boot to the USB device. I started the laptop and the drive started to load the files and I could then complete the resettlement of these two disks and then to set up the machine as if I had just bought it.

I'm very relieved that I managed to sort it out and now I have to upgrade to Windows 7 on this laptop that I read on and seems easy. Just a shame I can't copy the installation of my 2nd, portable more recent.

    Thanks again,

    Vanguard_1

  • Re: Satellite A300 - the recovery disc include music and programs?

I have a Satellite A300 and were invited to "recover"my computer."

I did not yet a recovery disk and I was wondering if the files (ie. music) would be included in the recovery, and if they were not would be removed. Also, I was wondering about the programs (ie. iTunes), it will be recovered because I do the recovery with installed disk.

It's just a problem because I have 250GB of music and I would like to take a moment to move to my laptop hard drive and it would really screw up iTunes.

    Cheers, Levi

    Hello

It s a good idea that you think about the creation of a Toshiba Recovery disk because you need so Vista doesn t start. This could happen

In any case, the Toshiba Recovery disk, you can create with the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator. What does the program do?
The recovery disk creator burn a boot drive with a factory image. This means that all the files you have stored on the computer or programs that you have installed are not on the recovery disk. The image I made is stored on the second partition of your laptop in the folder HDDrecovery.

So before starting the recovery disk, you should back up all the files on a DVD or external HARD disk. The complete HARD disk will be formatted with the recovery disk.

Moreover, you know the function of HARD drive recovery? It s similar to drive recovery but it formats only the first partition. You can start this feature Toshiba if you go into the advanced boot menu, select fix my computer and then choose the Toshiba Recovery option. Then you come back to factory settings.

But the files and programs that you have installed don t affect this image. So don t you worry about this and back up your files at any time.

I hope you understand now and if you have any other questions, please let us know!

    Good bye
