Vista/Windows 7: find in files

Several times I am looking for a specific file in a folder containing several files. I know what we call the file, but I can find... it takes forever!
Is it not possible to add a feature to "look in this folder", on a right click of the mouse? And for other search folders contained in this folder too, if I want that it? If this feature does not exist, you may not be very clear...

Hey J BLAH,.

If I understand the question, you can do the following:

-Open the folder in Windows Explorer
-Enter the name of the file in the search box on Windows Explorer

Hope that helps at least in the short term. I like your idea, however, and understand the frustration; will definitely pass it on.

    Hi Scottud,

    ·        Where you saved the Excel files?

    ·        You are unable to find only Excel files?

If you remember the name of the file or the folder that you saved the files, you can use the search start, and search the files. See the link below: find a file or folder: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Find-a-file-or-folder

You can even check recycle bin if you've accidentally deleted it and recover again.

    Hello

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem. However, I would be grateful if you could answer a few questions to refine the question in order to provide you with better assistance.

    1. Form when you try to open pictures? Is it in Photo Viewer?
    2. What type of files you are trying to open?
    3. You are able to open the photos in the Photos App?
    4. What is the brand and model of the computer?
    5. You did changes to the computer before this problem?

I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

Method 1: Run the utility to search and index and check.

    a. press the Windows key + X and click on Control Panel.

    b. click on Troubleshooting.

    c. Select display all on the upper left corner.

    d. perform research and solving problems of indexing.

Method 2: Restart the Windows Search service and check.

    (a) press Windows + R key and type "services.msc" and press ENTER.

    (b) locate the Windows Search service and right-click on it.

    (c) click Properties and check that the start option has been activated.

Method 3: If the problem persists, I suggest you to run a full scan using the Microsoft Safety Scanner (MSS) to ensure that the computer is virus-free.

The Microsoft Safety Scanner free is a downloadable security tool that allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software. It works with your current antivirus software.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    ·         What version of Media Player do you use?

    ·         You are able to locate the same file on the hard drive?

Erase the database of Media Player and look for the question. Follow these steps:

(2), select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

  • Problem getting setup.exe file from Acrobat XI - using WinRAR extractor - "Windows cannot find a file... '.

I downloaded Adobe Acrobat XI from my download of the University site (so I know it's a legitimate and safe copy).  When I run the .exe file, even if an administrator, he begins to extract using WinRAR archive self-extracting and stops with an error pop-up windows:

    «Windows cannot find «C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Temp\RarSFX0\Adobe Acrobat XI\setup.exe»»

I scanned using Malwarebytes, AVG, Spybot and run a \scannow command.  Nothing is a corrupt file.  Any ideas what might be causing the extractor does not work?

I am running Windows 7 on a Dell 64 bit laptop.

SOLUITION - I had to actually download a version of WinRAR Extractor.  Right click on the file AcrobatXI - Windows.exe downloaded and choose "Open with WinRAR" (this option was not available until I downloaded the WinRAR application - apparently the extractor runs automatically, but does not have full functionality).  Then I nagivated in the Adobe Acrobat folder in the WinRAR window selected the setup.exe file to run.  It has open and installed beautifully.
