  • I am unable to run .exe files, uninstall programs, go to safe mode, others on top.

Here's the question. Recently, I've been hit with malware any who try to act as a protection program. XP Security 2010 I think, this is how it's called. I have finally come down and get to run in normal mode, but when I try to do anything, including the internet, he asks me what he wants me to open with (providing a nice list of ol ' of programs such as photoshop, illustrator, etc.)

I can't run anything, I can't go in safe mode, nothing. Help would be loved.

Use above message for intense and thorough check for malware.

To restore the ability to run any .exe programs.

1 make a Restore Point so that you can come back if necessary back although probably not required.

Looks like your Windows file associations have to dispose. This means that XP doesn't know what to do with files by looking at the file extension (.exe for executables)., .doc for MS documents, etc.

  • . Lost exe file association: need a permanent solution

About 5-6 months, I had a problem with a .exe file association. I could not open any programs (gadgets sidebar, Skype, msn, etc.). I searched through many solutions which work.
I downloaded Microsoft Fix It ( http://support.microsoft.com/kb/950505MicrosoftFixit50194) which is supposed to fix the exe solution. In addition, before this, I used a patch of file from a website called .exe association: http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/105/1/File-association-fixes-for-Windows-Vista.html
The use of the file association fix modified .exe registry HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT exefile (default) value given in "Application". Then, after some requests for windows support, he said to transform the value '%1' % *.

Can I use the MicrosoftFixit, restart my computer, and then wait for maybe 5 minutes, and my programs load early upward. The fix would last maybe a few weeks and he was coming back, I would do the same thing and I fix it again. It happened maybe 4 - 5 times in the past months.
Now, just recently, whenever I restart my computer, the .exe problem. (2) I would copy safely Firefox from one computer to the other. I don't want to download from the internet. Really, we love and use firefox. I had to remove firefox because it came with the virus of Babylon.

If you have been Babylon when you installed Firefox you may have installed it from an authoritative source (the only official place and secure to download Firefox from www.getfirefox.comEast). Please, never download Firefox from anywhere else.

So, for your computers, be sure to download Firefox from www.getfirefox.comand you download the version official, convenient and safe.

  • Unable to run .exe files - windows for the application to launch guests

When I try to launch a .exe, or .cmd file, Windows prompts you to wonder what application should I use to start the program. This happens on a single user profile on the machine, not the others. How can I fix this profile?

    Background:
My child has apparently infected the computer. Whenever I started IE, two things happened:
    1. I have tons of warning messages that the computer has been infected
    2. I had the Vista "you want to run...?" question for the c:\users\tanya\app data\local\av.exe file

I disconnected and logged on as an account administrator and then deleted the av.exe file. I have connected as a user infected, launched IE. Guests at the stop, but now I'm invited by Windows to how launch (apparently part of the java runtime) ssvagent.exe - since everything that I try to launch with a .exe or .cmd, or .com extension gives me a quick for applications to launch in. I suspect that the virus, the installation itself, not connected all the stuff.

Then... How to hang it to the top? Advice?

    Hi Saeed,

Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

This issue would have occurred as a result of a third-party program on a virus. Follow these methods to solve the problem:

    Method 1:

Important: this section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs.

For more information about how to back up the registry, see the link:

    Back up the registry

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/back-up-the-registry

See the article and try to follow the steps to fix the problem:

When you run an .exe on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer file, the file can start another program

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/950505/en-us

    Method 2:

I also suggest you use the Microsoft Safety Scanner to remove viruses, spyware and other malicious software:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the Microsoft Safety Scanner expires 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again. The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Let us know the results. If you have other Windows problems, please ask your question and we will be happy to help you.
