Vista won't install - need to downgrade to XP

This all started on long TIME, when I had the great student cheap Windows 7 upgrade deal. Windows 7 has essentially destroyed my computer, making it impossible to launch it in something else than to safe mode. We have a Windows Home Premium disc, are currently not in use on any computer, so I decided to clean up the computer and install Vista. However, on the very last reboot during the installation, the screen eventually black with a large pixelated Rainbow bar at the top and does nothing. It will be not just to complete the installation.

I would really like a work computer, so I want to downgrade to XP. I have a disc borrowed from a friend, but I don't know how to get the necessary to install activation code.

Can someone help, please?

Ah! -in this case, it is not necessary.

I see from my records that a similar case has been solved by uninstalling and reinstalling the update WAT - KB971033

Open the Windows Update - click the link view updates installed on the left of the page

in the list, find the WAT update KB971033, and then uninstall it.

Then restart and reinstall the update from here - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971033

redemarrer restart again, then try to change your product key to the one on the sticker - what is happening this time?

  • I need to downgrade my OS

Just, I upgraded my OS and I have some problem of compatibility with my Numark MixDeck Express controller running Serato.  I am not getting any audio sound card of the computer that works with other applications.

I need to downgrade to Yosemite to make it work again. How can I do this?

If you previously had Yosemite and you have a backup, then use the command + Option + R for recovery of the internet; When it is connected to the Apple servers, use disk utility to erase your hard drive and then choose to restore from a backup that was Yosemite. Or choose to install the original OS and then go to Yosemite (which will be available only if you have downloaded previously).

    I have a PSAE6 A200 and I want to downgrade my bios.
I installed the bios v2.6 and I want downgrade 2.5 or 2.4 or 2.2 because my PC freezes (approximately 30 second freeze every 5 minutes) since I installed this bios.

Where can I download old bios for my Toshiba computer?
If anyone can send me the bios in an e-mail? I have Vista 64 bit installed on my computer.

Thank you very much and excuse my English.

    Hello

I doubt you'll be able to download the old version of the BIOS from the Toshiba page
It seems that the European driver Toshiba page always provides the latest versions of BIOS

Someone wrote here that you can try to get an older version of BIOS of your ASP.
Contact the guy and ask him if it would be possible to get an older version of BIOS

PS: Are you sure the new BIOS is responsible for freezing issues? It is hardly to believe

    Re-installation of Windows Vista

    Hello

The hard drive on my ispiron 530 has recently developed a fault and damaged my version of windows Vista.

One of my friends then installed a copy of windows 7, I think now is an illegal copy because it requires an activation key, that I don't have.

How can I get a copy of windows vista to re - install on the computer and I can use that came with my system activation key to activate it.

    Hello

Call Dell and ask them to provide you with a recovery disk to reinstall back to the factory settings.

Manufacturers that make normally for a fee.

Recovery of computer manufacturers discs normally do not require a product key of your share entry.

Some manufacturers have more available Vista recovery disks.

If this happens, you may need to try this instead:

You can also borrow and use a Microsoft Vista DVD, which contains the files for the different editions of Vista (Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate) must be installed. The product key on your computer case will determine which Edition is installed.

Other manufacturers recovery DVDs are should not be used for this purpose.

And you need to know the version of 'bit' for Vista, as 32-bit and 64-bit editions come on different DVDs

    See you soon.

PS as you do not have a Vista disc read this:

If you have never received a recovery to buying disk, you should have a recovery partition on your hard disk to reinstall Vista from except if it has been damaged or removed from your drive hard when you install Windows 7...

You don't give any information about the replacement of the hard disk. Everything you say is that it developed a fault, that a friend installed Windows 7.

If you somehow fixed it and continue to use this drive, read about it using the recovery partition.

If using a new hard drive to ignore it.

  • How to install Windows XP on a Windows Vista using Vista workstation to install XP in a separate mode dual-boot partition.

If you have a Windows XP workstation it is a piece of cake to install Windows Vista on the same workstation using the dual-boot using a separate on the same hard disk partition...  However, the main centre recently received a large number of donations new jobs Lenovo ThinkCentre with factory installed and perfectly running Vista operating systems.  Question: Is there a procedure that would allow using Vista to install Windows XP on these workstations dual-boot mode?  Workstations must be used in a class of main center where we need to teach using either XP or Vista depending on student needs.   A second hard drive would allow such a facility.  But we would like to use a 2nd partition on the existing hard disk of Vista to install XP.  However, Microsoft has always included features in its Windows operating systems that overcome by using the current operating system to install an older version of the OS.  There must be a work around there somewhere.  Thanks for your help.

If you have any available records of vista, you could make a partition in disk management (right click computer, manage, enable the UAC and then go into disk management.)  Shrink the partition and format it with NTFS free space.)  Then boot from the XP disc and install it.  Once you have completed the installation of xp. Start the vista disc and go to the repair options.  Go to a command prompt and type "bootrec.exe /fixboot" (without the quotes) and press ENTER.  After restart, you should see a start with windows vista and xp listed menu.  If xp is not in the list, let me know and I can tell you how to add it.

  • Vista key for vostro 1510 factory downgraded to xp

I have a vostro 1510 which has a sticker 'vista basic' but came from Dell downgraded to xp.  A month ago, I used the dvd of Vista Bsns provided by Dell with my purchase from xp to vista.  Now, I get a message that my product key is not valid.   The key on the laptop sticker is worn out, and I had to guess some of the letters/numbers, what could be my problem.  Is the key on the sticker good for xp and vista?  If so, I can keep guessing until I understand it.   Or should I be hunting through my paperwork for a different product for vista key which would be provided by Dell with vista dvd?

First of all, you shouldn't have a Windows Vista sticker with a system provided with Windows Vista Professional with downgrade rights to Windows XP Professional.

The thumbnail and the certificate of authenticity must be presented for Vista Business Edition. The DVD of resettlement must be Windows Vista Business Edition.

I recommend that you install the latest version of the BIOS of the Vostro 1510:

    http://ftp.Dell.com/BIOS/V1510A15.exe

See here for instructions on updating the BIOS:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/updating-the-BIOS/

Then for OEM Dell reinstallation usually DVD in place upgrade will result in problems with the product activation. You have to clean install Windows Vista Professional via the Dell BIOS and then install the Service Packs and the standalone updates and then drivers for more details see:

I have a computer that was originally purchased with Windows Vista on it. I am now anting upgraded to Windows 7 and have a question before doing so. I bought a disc to upgrade to 7 through my University and the disk, it says that you need a product key. When the computer was purchased, Vista is already installed and we never received a product key or disc. I read a few places when the OS is installed at the factory, they use a special key that they integrated into the BIOS of the motherboard. Will I need to somehow extract this product key or can I just proceed with the upgrade? Thank you

You would need a Windows 7 key to install the upgrade, not a Windows Vista key.  The Windows 7 disc you have is useless without the key to Windows 7. It looks like you bought a copy of the education of MSDNAA and your college should have made you a key when you bought it.
