  They are required if you specify NAT or type of connection guest network only for your virtual machines.  If you want only the type of connection in bridge, then no., you won't need these.

  I don't think it's a driver problem, because VMware Workstation - like any other Windows application - takes advantage of Windows features for networking and does not separate NETWORK interface drivers but only services that use default API.

  Have you tried to completely uninstall VMware Workstation (using the command line option / clean ) before installing another version? And have you installed using 'Run as Administrator' to make sure that it is not a permission problem. You can also read
