VMWare Fusion 6 crashes on 10.8.5 during installation

Any suggestions for successful installation of 6 of VMWare Fusion on a Mac Pro running OS X 10.8.5 (beta 7) or on an iMac running 10.9 (beta 7).  Blocks both machines.  Not a wise way of software for the new OS version when they do not work on the BONE in circulation.

Hi mrfearless47,

You meet with the accident described in the other thread?  Fusion 6 Professional hangs at startup

If this isn't what you see there, could you please attach one of crash reports to an answer here in the forums?  Launch Applications > utilities > Console and find the diagnostic report VMware Fusion.  Attach the file by selecting "Use the Advanced Editor" in the upper right corner, then choosing the below Browse... button; Please do not copy - paste!

Thank you

    Hi Vmware community!

I had Vmware Fusion 4 with two Virtual Machines (12 Ubuntu and Windows 2000), my system runs OS Mountain Lion 10.8.1 in my Mac Book Air 13 mid 2012.  I installed the latest version of Vmware Fusion 5 evaluation (it automatically uninstalled the previous version) and when I boot my Windows 2000 VM is crushed by the system. The only way to regain control of the system is the power button. This ocours always when I try to start this virtual machine. The 12 Ubuntu VM works very well.

I want to buy this version of Vmware, but this crucial issue.

Thank you in advance, I have attached the log files.

To work around the problem, try changing the runtime preferred virtual machine ' Intel VT-x/EPT. '

    Hello

After update VMware Fusion last updated, I can't open application.

You cannot open the application "VMware Fusion" is not possible on this type of Mac.

    VMware: 6.0.3

    OS X: 10.9.2

    How can I fix?

    Thank you

I assumed that since things worked very well with VMware Fusion 6.0.2 that it was merge that you are prompted to update and you did it through merger strictly said, which is correct?  If Yes, I download the installer of VMware Fusion website of VMware 6.0.3, remove the "/ Applications/VMware Fusion" App and then install from the downloaded installer.

  • StarCraft 2 (Mac) crashes to VMWare Fusion

I used VMWare Fusion on my MacBook pro with no problems for about a year. Recently I bought Starcraft 2 and after playing, my VMWare Fusion client (running with BootCamp volume, not a virtual disk) crashes with this error: "a serious error has occurred within your computer's OpenGL graphics drivers.

Then he mentions that 3D acceleration will be switched off in VMWare.

There is a button, but no matter how many times you press it, error dialog box pops up again, effectively making me lose all my data on Windows applications.

Should I file a bug report? Don't know where to do it.

    INFO:

    VMWare version: 3.1.0

Hardware: MacBook Pro Unibody 15 "

    Mac OS 10.6.4

    Running on VMWare: Windows XP

For now I'll disable 3D acceleration in VMWare.

    Hello

I think you hit an OS x 10.6.4 problem.

    See also: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1024814

Is not exactly the same ratio, but there many similarities and you don't seem to operate 10.6.4 already... so I think you need to wait that apple sets. I'm waiting on a fix for this before I go to 10.6.4 myself.

    Hope this helps,

  • 17 GB of drive space missing after the crash of vmware fusion and force restart

During my last installation of SuSE Linux, I had to manually reboot my system because my system crashed.

After the reboot, I deleted the virtual machine of Susa and started again installation. To my surprise 17 GB were mission on my hard drive and I can't find the files responsible for this. I checked my system of files larger than 500 MB via ' find /-size M + 500 ", but found nothing: (.)

Do you know where are the 17 GB or where vmware fusion may have experienced a system core dump or something like that?

Please help, I need the 17 GB for resettlement :).

    Thank you.

I have discovert that was missing only 3 GB of the 20 GB that I deleted before trying to install SuSE. But I deleted all the files that I specified after the crash. The trash is always empty so I'm a bit confused were are the 17 GB.

  • 10.10.2 OS problems install a DMG in VMWare Fusion

    Hello

-J' use an iMac, 10.10.2 system

    -J' bought VMWare Fusion 7.1.1

My goal is to be able to jump from my iMac (running OS 10.10.2 with VMWare Fusion installed) to a virtual machine Mac OS 10.7.5 (a carbon copy of my MacBookAir).

So, I made a carbon copy of the operating system as a whole on my MacBookAir as a DISK IMAGE (dmg).

Here are the steps I follow on VMWare, but it does not work. I would really appreciate the help. I have more resources.

    1. open VMWare Fusion.

2 file / new (installation method)

    3. I Select the first option being "Install from a CD or disk image" (see fig. 1)

    4. I click on ""use another disk or a disk image " "

    5. I Select my dmg file.

6 VMWare asked me to choose my of operation of the System (I do not know if I have to choose the operating system on my iMac running VMWare or the operating system on my disk Image... However I tried both)

    7. the result is the gray apple screen and then it blocks (see fig. 2).

Can anyone help? I'm completely lost...

    Thank you very much.

To answer why the steps you suggested do not work:

When you create a new virtual machine, Fusion expects that you will provide an operating system installation media (a picture CD/DVD or other medium containing the installation of the operating system application), not an image of the hard drive containing the operating system already installed.  Bascially, you have deceived merger taking the image from your hard drive and attaching it to a virtual CD/DVD drive.  The core of the operating system will take care of such a 'disc', but the installed operating system is expected to be on a writeable medium, while the virtual CD/DVD drive is not reading / writing (at least not in the sense that the core of the OS X wait... Burners of CD/DVDs do not count), and the OS crashes instead of start normally.

As far as I know, you have at least four options for moving forward:

    1. use your MBA to download the app to install OS X 10.7.  You can do this by going to The App Store on your MBA and option-click the purchases button and there you are looking for setup of OS X Lion.  Copy the resultant Installer OS X Lion.app to your iMac, and create the new virtual machine in Fusion, using this application as the installation media.  Then do 1 a or 1 b:

    1. during installation, you will be offered the opportunity to migrate files and settings from another computer... This facility allows to transfer your stuff in front of the MBA to the iMac.  This is by far the safest (and probably easiest) option.

    -or-

1B. stop the virtual machine with the freshly installed OS.  In the virtual machine settings, add a new virtual hard disk.  Also join the .dmg "insert" backup in the virtual CD/DVD drive.  Turn on the virtual machine and install CCC and use it to restore the .dmg backup of the entire system on the new hard drive (empty).  Power off the virtual computer.  Remove the first hard drive and turn off the CD/DVD drive to "eject" the .dmg backup.  Cross your fingers and the power on the virtual machine.

    -or-

    2. P2V, as suggested by ChipMcK.  (I've never used these special tools).  Opinions differ as to if P2V in Mac OS X is a good idea from the point of view of stability and reliability.  I have not encountered any problems, but I very rarely P2V.

    -or-

3 it should be possible (but not easy) to convert the .dmg you have a hard drive (hard) that you can attach to a virtual machine.  The procedure is not simple, and I don't think it's documented anywhere...  I'll try to put something together, if none of the previous solutions worked for you.

    See you soon,.

  • VMware Fusion 7 - OSx 10.9 comments iTunes hangs at each time after installing vmware tools

    Hello community,

I'm having a problem with vmware tools.  Yesterday, I did the upgrade of Fusion 6 to 7 Pro.

I have installed Mavericks like virtual machine.  My system (iMac Late2013) has installed Mavericks.

With vmware tools iTunes crash whenever it is launched.

Without vmware tools iTunes works well... but the yield is very low (I can't use shared folders, etc.)

Before upgrading vmware fusion 7, I had fusion 6 and everything works fine (I mean iTunes with vmware tools)

I use this machine with audio application and it is important for me to use iTunes inside the virtual machine.

Is there the 'tricks' to solve this problem?

    Thank you

It's finally a bug in iTunes that Apple should correct (so please click on "Send to Apple" in this window), but it is important to use to find out what triggers it.

I suspect a significant change, we did for the graphics drivers of comments (within the VMware Tools for OS X) between Fusion 6 and 7 of the merger. To test this theory, please try the following experiences in your VM Mavericks:

    o experience 1

In Terminal.app, run the following command:

    sudo nvram boot-args = 'vmw_gfx_caps = 0'

Then restart the client Mavericks. Does make the problem disappear? If no, continue to experiment 2

    o experience 2

In Terminal.app, run the following command:

    sudo rm - rf {/System,}/Library/Extensions/VMwareGfx.kext

Then restart the client Mavericks. Does make the problem disappear?

  • Bridged Networking crushed Vmware Fusion 6.0.4 - replicable

I use the version of 30 trial of VMWare Fusion 6.0.4.  I can't sign up and download a .zip file officially, because I have to register the product first, and it won't let me register the serial number of the trial.  I won't pay until I am sure that it works for my use case.  So I have to resort to these forums.  Here's my reproducible bug:

I'm running a Windows 7 VM.  I used the import function to import this machine virtual of Parallels Desktop version 9.  It starts and works fine as long as I'm using NAT networking (shared with the host).  As soon as I switch to Bridged networking, it starts and runs for about 15 to 30 seconds, then crashes.

I used "Information Support" to create a zip of debugging information file and he have attached to this post.  Help!  I need to use Bridged networking.

    Hi petec35_2!

It seems that your guest uses frames (or Jumbo Packet), and which is currently to trigger this problem in Fusion.

To work around the problem: in the guest Device Manager, find the E1000/E1000e NIC, then a parameter in its property page should allow you to disable the Jumbo Frames/Jumbo Packet.

    See you soon,.

    Hi all

I am currently evaluating VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 and I my VM in my love at first sight drive (Seagate Goflex Portable).

    The guest is Windows 7 x 64

    -Allocated memory: 8 GB

    -Processor allowed: 4 cores

The host is MAC OSX 10.7.5

-Processor: Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz

    -Total memory: 16GB

I use the backup process within this comments and after a few hours of operation, VMWare Fusion does still not and crash and there is nothing I can do.

I tried logout / stop / restart my mac through normal way (click on the Apple icon and select the menu) without success. and the only way to restart my mac is press the power for a few seconds (hard reset)

If I move/copy VM file in my internal drive, this problem does not occur

All the world experience similar question, run the virtual machine of the Thunderbolt drive?

Also, if you need log file, please let me know that you need and I will he pass here

PPS: I am to evaluate the software, I can not lift with VMWare support ticket

Cool, let me know how it goes.

I have too was doing some research on the same yesterday. I was focused on the memory management on the side of mac, rather than with the parameters of fusion.

There is this command "purge" which converts all inactive memory in memory without having to restart the mac. More free memory means any chance of merger to the detriment of.

Depending on the setting of fusion you found, I knew that the neutralization of him would make a difference. Because by default an automatic unbufferred mode for vista and later guest operating system which is what is needed for the best peformance.  That's why I was excluded from that.
