Running VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 Thunderbolt Drive

Hi all

I am currently evaluating VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 and I my VM in my love at first sight drive (Seagate Goflex Portable).

The guest is Windows 7 x 64

-Allocated memory: 8 GB

-Processor allowed: 4 cores

The host is MAC OSX 10.7.5

-Processor: Intel Core i7 2.2 GHz

-Total memory: 16GB

I use the backup process within this comments and after a few hours of operation, VMWare Fusion does still not and crash and there is nothing I can do.

I tried logout / stop / restart my mac through normal way (click on the Apple icon and select the menu) without success. and the only way to restart my mac is press the power for a few seconds (hard reset)

If I move/copy VM file in my internal drive, this problem does not occur

All the world experience similar question, run the virtual machine of the Thunderbolt drive?

Also, if you need log file, please let me know that you need and I will he pass here

PPS: I am to evaluate the software, I can not lift with VMWare support ticket

Cool, let me know how it goes.

I have too was doing some research on the same yesterday. I was focused on the memory management on the side of mac, rather than with the parameters of fusion.

There is this command "purge" which converts all inactive memory in memory without having to restart the mac. More free memory means any chance of merger to the detriment of.

Depending on the setting of fusion you found, I knew that the neutralization of him would make a difference. Because by default an automatic unbufferred mode for vista and later guest operating system which is what is needed for the best peformance.  That's why I was excluded from that.

  • Cannot run VMWare Fusion on Mac 10.9.4 6.4

I use Fusion for some time on my Mac (Mavericks 10.9.4). Recently, when I went to launch Fusion 6.4, I received this message:

    Cannot run VMWare Fusion

VMware Fusion is damaged and cannot be repaired. Please move the VMWare Fusion application to the trash and reinstall VMWare Fusion

So, I removed the merger application and downloaded again. When I installed it, I got the same message. Well, I thought that this must be one of these 'hidden' files, see you must be corrupt, so I used App Zapper to get rid of the merger and all files related; emptied the Recycle Bin, so merger was gone, gone, gone. Uploaded a new image, the same thing!  No matter what I do, I can't use Fusion. Suggestions?

Do not use Zapper App - merger, running specific uninstall scripts.

I've seen that occur when get-Gatekeeper confused about how something has been installed, when permissions are confused, or when a hard drive is running out.  If you have VMWare Fusion and have installed and it run under an administrator account (default in OS x unless you change it), then first use disk utility to first 'check disk' (if you want something better, look for smart voltains software utility), then repair permissions.  If this does not work, try to right click on the merger in the applications folder, and choose open.

  • Windows 7 Ult running VMWare Fusion on an iMac - will not open the Medal of Honor-Allied Assault

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

In order to be able to run PC games on my iMac using Fusion-VM, I was obliged to purchase Windows 7 like Windows 7 on my PC was an upgrade. Despite the fact that the Ministry of HEALTH ran under Fusion using Windows XP, which is entered on my PC, now when I try to run MOH I'm greeted by a message indicating that Windows has encountered a problem (not identified), but will seek a solution. It was more than four weeks ago but still no word from Microsoft. Oh yes, Age of Empires is running, you don't know.

    • You have problems with programs
    • Error messages
    • Recent changes to your computer
    • What you have already tried to solve the problem

    Hello

    ·        What is the exact error message when you try to open Medal of Honor?

Medal of Honor-Allied Assault is compactable with Windows 7. The issue seems to be the installation of the program. I suggest you to reinstall the game Medal of Honor on your system and check if you face the same problem.

You can check the link below to uninstall the program under Windows 7.

  • Buy VMware Fusion 7, but the v5 download and run the merger also?

I looked on the website of VMware, but impossible to find the answer to this question:

A customer can purchase VMware Fusion version 7 (the current version) but also to download and run an earlier version of VMware Fusion (for example, merger v5) for temporary use? Here's an example scenario:

    * A VMware customer has two Macs. One is an old Mac running Snow Leopard, and the other is a new Mac running Mavericks or Yosemite. The customer wants to use the new Mac, go ahead (and give the old Mac). The client runs even a few applications that are not supported on what it is later than Snow Leopard (for example PowerPC applications). The obvious solution is to run these applications in a guest of Snow Leopard Server in VMware Fusion on the new Mac.

    * The problem is that Snow Leopard Server does not install as a guest operating system on the recent Mac models of the client, but it can run an existing Snow Leopard Server prompt that was created on an older Mac.

    * The client has this old Snow Leopard Mac. Unfortunately, it won't run VMware Fusion 7. It will run in VMware Fusion version 5, however. The customer wants to run VMware Fusion 5 on the old Mac to create the Snow Leopard Server on old Mac prompt, then copy the comments for the new Mac where it can run under VMware Fusion 7.

    HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS:

--> How can the customer buy VMware Fusion 7, but also to download a copy of VMware Fusion 5 for this operation 'create a Snow Leopard Server prompt' unique on the old Mac?

-> Will VMware provide a Fusion 5 license when the trial period expires on the old Mac before the customer can get a Snow Leopard Server comments work?

I sent you this link last night via Message private and also posted in your other thread on the subject.  You should be able to use as disk utility here: create a disk image of physical Mac OS X install media.

If this process fails to create an image that starts on your newer Mac, please let us know, as this is a question we want to address.  I'm not aware of any circumstances which require a downgrade from Fusion 5 install Snow Leopard Server.

    Thank you

  • VMWare Fusion for Mac - how much space HARD drive is my virtual machine taking?

So, I am running VMWare Fusion on my MacBook Air, and I'm under low HARD disk space.  My Mac storage utility tells me that I have a ton of capacity used in the 'Other' bucket.  According to me, this bucket is where live VMWare Fusion.  As I understand it, technically, my complete operating system of Windows (including all files) is contained in a single file on the Mac side.  Is this correct?  Is it possible to see what capacity takes up my whole Windows Operating System (Virtual Machine)?  I hope this makes sense.  Thanks in advance for your comments!

    -Chill

ChillOne wrote: as I understand it, technically, my complete operating system of Windows (including all files) is contained in a single file on the Mac side.  Is this correct?

No, it's not correct!  A Virtual Machine is composed of many files and folders according to how it configured and used.  On a Mac if created natively by VMware Fusion using values by default so all the files that make up a virtual machine are in all of the Virtual Machine that is structurally nothing more then a regular folder except the extension .vmwarevm, it is treated differently by the launch in OS X Services.  Take a look on: work with Virtual Machine packages

The files that make up the Virtual Machines from Windows/Linux systems and other places my being in simple ordinary folders.

Is it possible to see what capacity takes up my whole Windows Operating System (Virtual Machine)?

You can also see statistics for a given Virtual Machine by selecting Virtual Machine in the library because it displays size information, as well as on the General form of a virtual machine; s parameters.  Or look in the Finder and see the release of Get Info for the packaging of the Virtual Machine or the folder that contains the files that make up the Virtual Machine.

  • GPIB-usb-hs on vmware fusion

I am running Windows 7 64-bit on an iMac with OS X 10.6.5 via VMWare Fusion. I installed the driver NOR-488. 2, but can not see my GPIB-USB-HS device. This post: http://forums.ni.com/t5/Instrument-Control-GPIB-Serial/NI-488-2-does-work-on-Windows-XP-Mode-within-... seems to indicate that someone else has had success; his problem was using XP Mode.

Anyone can shed some light on this? Can I expect the combination of the GPIB-USB-HS with Windows 7-64 on VMWare Fusion on an iMac to work?

I also have a USB-6215 is working well.

    Thank you!

    John-

I moved my virtual machine to an OS X 10.6.6 system and things did not work immediately. The GPIB-USB-HS was not visible to the MAX and in Device Manager it looks good, when when I open the property page, he says that there is no driver loaded.

I was able to get the GPIB-USB-HS working by choosing to update the driver through the Device Manager. The steps to do this are:

    1. right click on the GPIB-USB-HS in Device Manager and select "update driver software...". »

    2. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" and then "Let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer.

    3. you must be exactly a GPIB-USB-HS driver to choose. Select it and click Next.

    4. once it finished, view the properties of the device and make you it is said "this device is working properly."

I did the same test for validating a single request with the device, but it seems to work.

Let us know if this helps,

Eric has already answered the second part of your question so I'll answer the first part.  While they are not as easily seen as just see hard files exist, as to see in the Finder for example, nevertheless he who has access can also, with the right tools, see the contents of files hard otherwise encrypted.  In other words, hard files can be mounted with a ctrl-click > open with... > VMDKMounter.  There are other programs that can open and view the content without a ride just like opening a .zip file in BetterZip.

Most is, with the exception being encrypted and one without knowing the password, then anyone who has knowledge and access can see what they want.

  • VMWare Fusion 6.0.5: Could not open/dev/vmmon: no such file or directory.

I've been running VMWare Fusion 6 on my MacBook Pro with the Mavericks for quite awhile.  I just got a Mac Mini with Yosemite and I want to copy one of my virtual machines of the MBP to the Mini.

I tried to just copy the vmware.vm of the MBP to the Mini but when I open it and try to start it I get the following errors:

    • Unable to open/dev/vmmon: no such file or directory.

Please ensure that the "vmmon" kernel module is loaded.

    • Could not initialize the surveillance apparatus.
    • Internal error

I also tried to import the vmware.wm file, but it is always grayed out.

How can I copy a virtual machine from one Mac to another?

    Hi atj777,

Are you absolutely certain that this is Fusion 6.0.5, you're there?  Fusion 6.0.4 and earlier would fail on Yosemite the way you describe.  There are many other possible causes of the same error message, but it would be the first thing I would check a second time.  (My apologies if you have already verified!)

What version of Yosemite are you running?  10.10.2?

It can also be useful to restart your Mac to see if that helps... sometimes he does.

To answer your question directly: simply copy the ".vmwarevm" package on the whole should be enough.  The message you see is a generic merge error and has nothing to do with the copy process.

    See you soon,.

  • VMWare Fusion claiming there is not enough free space

For some reason any VMWare Fusion I cannot expand my drive saying that there is not enough free space even if I almost free 100gbs. I am able to create a second virtual hard disk without problem.

OSX VMWare 6.0.4 and 10.9.4. Thank you.

You do not host disk space appropriate to perform a resize or move from a to a disk of type twoGbMaxExtentSparse monolithicSparse and your only option if you cannot release a sufficient amount of space host is temporarily copy the Package to the Virtual Machine on an external drive with enough free disk space to perform a resize or move from a to a disk of type twoGbMaxExtentSparse monolithicSparse and test that everything is correct before copy it back. You must also make sure you have a good backup before conversion of the type of disc or resize and Time machine is not a backup for virtual machines.  In addition, make sure that the virtual machine is stopped, not suspended and VMware Fusion is closed when you are backing up the VM or copy/move the virtual computer.

VMware is only a map of Ethernet network wired to the guest regardless of the type of network adapter in the host OS.  If needed/wanted a WiFi adapter in the comments then you will need to provide your own, like a USB WiFi network adapter.  Network adapter WiFi integrated host cannot / will not be seen in the comments.
