VMWare serial number

Ive just finished installing ESX 4.0 and I cannot for the life of me find out where I can put in the registration number I was delivered.

I tried the button to join the title help and filled and he tells me that my serial number is already registered to me?

IM used to VMWare Server 2.0 where he made the REQUEST.

Can someone point me in the right direction?  Thank you.

  • Property of VMware Workstation 8 serial number does not work

    Hello

    I used to install WS7 issuing a command line like this:

    VMware Workstation.msi"/ qb! /norestart ADDLOCAL = ALL DISABLE_AUTORUN = 0 QUICKLAUNCH_SHORTCUT = 0 USERNAME = "xxx" COMPANYNAME = "xxx" SERIALNUMBER = "xxxx".

    Now, SERIALNUMBER has been removed from the msi properties table.

    Is it possible to have a solution for this other than the registration of import reg file?

    This issue has a lot of visibility with the devs, and we are working on implementing this properly in my computer.  For 8.0.1 users are able to configure shortcuts, port pass, serial key and persist / remove settings from the workstation through the command line, but we still have more work to do.  Still, some settings do not work and are not passed through. Currently INSTALLDIR and the features of REMOVAL does not work.

    But, you can indeed install w / serial number in the installation in silent mode starts now with Workstation 8.0.1.

    VMware-workstation-plein-8.0.1-528992.exe/s/v SERIALNUMBER = "xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx" works when it is run from an elevated command prompt.

    Hello

    Take a look at the download page here:

    You must register to receive the serial number.

  • Recover the serial number for vmware to TimeMachine

    I recently updated my system to 10.6 with a clean install. Unfortunately, I can not find my article of the serial number vmware or any backup except the Time Machine backup of my previous 10.5.

    Is there a way to retrieve the serial number of TimeMachine without restoring the entire system? where is it stored?

    Thank you.

    Note: series was not listed, so nothing in vmware web account.

    The default location and the file stored in the serial number for Fusion 2 is: "/ Library/Application Support/VMware Fusion/license.fusion.site.6.0.200610" so you can use this information to locate in the TM backup.

  • VMware Server serial number

    I am trying to run VMware Server, but she asked my serial number and I don't know that is possible that you can find

    When you have downloaded VMware Server, you need to sign to the top/indicator for her and should have received an email with a link to activate your copy.  The link takes you to the download page where you should see your serial number near the top of the page.

  • Find the serial number of a purchased VMWare produce

    Hello

    We bought VMware ESX Server about 2 years ago and then IT Director was the only person who had the number of the product, but he left, and we are in a situation that we need to reload the server, but we can't because we have no serial or activation of our vmware product code is it possible to find? I tried to do a search on the website of VMware Member but it seems like the serial number / activation code was ever recorded which leaves me a bit of a difficult situation at the moment.

    VMware server is installed on RHEL4 and we have a couple of critical machines running VMs that makes this very important.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Sorry typo, I meant GSX Server. I thought the VMWare Server was only on for about 6 months trial basis where you would need to purchase the product

    This was true for GSX Server

    > but if I understand much of what you said, the VMWare server has no time trial? If this is the case... Heck, there's no problem!

    From VMWare Server 1, this product is free to use (registration needed and they delivered a serial number too). I have not downloaded/used 2 Server since the first beta I'm under 1.0 x to my satisfaction and currently starting to switch to ESXi (free too, but with some limitations).

  • HP DL380-> find hardware serial number of HP DL380 Server 2008 R2 VM

    Hello

    I'm working on a VMWare ESXi configuration that requires to get the serial number of the equipment of a HP DL380 to the VMWare Guest.  The only problem I have is that the guest will not know the IP address of the VMWare host.

    Here's the Setup: HP DL380 (running VMWare ESXi 5.5)-> VMWare ESXi Guest VM (virtual machine must obtain the serial number of the DL380, but do not know the IP address of the host and can not reach the network.  It is possible in some other way?).

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Ryan

    Well... you will need to do so through a proxy...

    If you have access to the VM vCenter, you can watch a powercli for this script, it would be grep it...

    If that VM can not reach the host at all, then you need another 'computer' that can reach the ESX host and virtual machine, to ask for you and pick up the other "computer."

    If this isn't an option... then you must watch the invoice for the order...

  • ESXi 5.5u1 - serial number physical host in virtual machine

    I was happy to see in 5.5 update 1 release notes that it should be possible to switch the serial number of the host through a virtual machine hardware.

    • Allow virtual machines to display the serial number of the physical host
      Virtual machines cannot reflect the physical hosts ESXi serial numbers.
      • This issue is fixed in this version.

    Does anyone know how to enable this for a new or existing virtual computer?

    I had problems in the past with Apple Push Notification Services expects a Mac serial number. I hope that I can now spend series a Mac Pro to the host through a virtual machine.

    Someone at - it experience or knowledge to implement this? Thank you!

    Hi DJLambertand welcome to the VMware communities!

    If you want a prompt of OS X to use the serial number of the host, you will need to add this option to the virtual machine configuration:

    serialNumber.reflectHost = 'TRUE '.

    or, if you want a prompt of OS X to use the model of host hardware ID (learn "MacPro5, 1"), ID (i.e. "Mac-12345678" ") and the serial number all all aboard:

    smbios.reflectHost = 'TRUE '.

    will take care of all three.  Note that there is no way to understand or control what happens if you have multiple virtual machines with the same serial number and using this external serial number as an identifier.

    Let us know if you have problems with these options!  I'm not sure whether they will solve the problem you face, but... For example, there are more problems iMessage running in a virtual machine...

    See you soon,.

  • Get the VM from the list of virtual machines serial number?

    Property.  I have been breaking my head against that for hours and finally gave up and ask me for help.  I have this function below that I found at http://www.peppercrew.nl/index.php/2011/04/get-virtual-machine-bios-serial-number/.

    It works fantastic for an individual VM, however I have a list of 250 VMs that I need this information, because our management software requires a unique serial number for each virtual computer.

    I tried to edit the script to import from a .txt file and information through a foreach loop and am just not having any success.  What I am doing wrong?

    function Get-VMSerial{

    $VMList = Get-Content C:\VMList.txt    foreach ($VM in $VMList){
            $VirtualMachine = Get-VM $vm.name

        param([VMware.VimAutomation.ViCore.Impl.V1.Inventory.VirtualMachineImpl]$VirtualMachine)

        $s = ($VirtualMachine.ExtensionData.Config.Uuid).Replace("-", "")
        $Uuid = "VMware-"    for ($i = 0; $i -lt $s.Length; $i += 2)
        {
            $Uuid += ("{0:x2}" -f [byte]("0x" + $s.Substring($i, 2)))
            if ($Uuid.Length -eq 30) { $Uuid += "-" } else { $Uuid += " " }
        }

        Write-Output $Uuid.TrimEnd()}

    }

  • Machine serial number

    Wanted to know if a virtual machine is guaranteed to bring a unique serial number machine.

    If as says AP this is the VM UUID you mean then, unless you select actually all records related to a virtual machine a phyiscally copy them elsewhere and try to start this machine then the necessary changes to the VMX file will be managed by VMware.

    Also, even if you just copy the files from that workstation should ask the question if you have moved or copied, if you copy it will generate a new UUID VM.

    Now within the virtual machine, the operating system has its own SSID that is generated when the machine is installed or reconfigured with Sysprep and it is not the function of VMware unless you've implemented a customization script.

  • VMclient - serial number

    I have a question regarding the serial number generated for a VM client.   Is it generated whenever you add this to an inventory?  Is there a way to manage and use a preconfigured sequence?

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    If you are referring to the UUID, a generated value. It is possible to create your own. http://KB.VMware.com/kb/1541 there may be other ways to add information easy to follow for a virtual machine that does not use the UUID.
