VMware tools State prevents the publication of VMware templates

Hi all

I have created a template in Lab Manager 3.0, but I am unable to change the status to released because Virtual Center 2.5 and Lab Manager 'think' that VMware tools is not installed.

It is a new installation of Redhat RHEL Server 5.0, kernel 2.6.18 - 92.el5. The VMware tools install seemed to go very well, without error. rpm and yum both agree that VMwareTools 7302-123630 is installed. Same Virtual Center showed VMware Tools as 'OK' for a minute before changing the status "not installed".

Reboots and reinstalls have not changed behavior. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks,-Jeff

Go to the properties of the virtual machine template. Uncheck "Run the customization" and click Update. Now try the editing model.

  • How to prevent the VMware Tools reset the size of my text on 4 k display

    Hello

    I use 12 Workstation on a Dell XPS 15 9550 with a native resolution of 3840 x 2160 (4 k).  I was able to move on virtual machines running Win 7 from another system where the virtual machines were running at a resolution of 1920 x 1080.  These virtual machines are now running at 1920 x 1080 on the Dell.  (I did it by using the VM settings > display and set a max and running full screen resolution).  The problem is that the text and icons are displayed at 150% the size. I can use the Win 7 Desktop > resolution to 100% and everything is the way I need it, but when I do this change, VMware Tools appears saying that I need to log out and back in.  If I do this the text/icons are at 150%.

    How can I get VMware Tools to stop the reset of this size from 100% to 150%?

    Thank you.

    Here is the solution:

    > Turn on the virtual machine.

    > Click VM > settings > select view.

    > Uncheck the option scale to display "automatically adjust the size of the user interface on the VM.

    > Disconnect and connect when VMware Tools invites.

    > You can now change the font size in the virtual machine to 100%.

    > Disconnect and connect.

  • Cannot install VMware tools - "cannot find the component...". »

    I created a Windows XP Pro VM under a host Windows 7 Pro using Player 4.02. When I try to install VMware tools I get the message "can't find conponent on the update server. Contact VMware support or your system administrator. "The host and guest both can work a network connectivity and the internet. I saw at least another poster on another forum mentioned this error message and told him to install by mounting the ISO and install it manually. I looked in every subdirectory of the installation of the reader and any windows.iso file could not be found. Is it supposed to be there in this version of the player? If this is not the case, how can I get the iso? Any help is appreciated.

  • State of the listed material unknown state via API, not so much using VMware Infrastructure Client

    Anyone know if it is a result of ESXi vs say Foundation, company, etc.?  Querying the State of the material using the perl Toolbox storage devices returned the status of "unknown".  While the use of the Windows infrastructure client under 'configuration' then 'State of health', storage devices are listed as with the lights green and 'Normal '.

    through perl toolkit, for example:

    print join ("\t", $host - & gt; name, $hba - & gt; device, $hba - & gt; key, $hba - & gt; model, $hba - & gt; status, $hba - & gt; pilot, $hba - & gt; bus). "\t";

    foo.com vmhba32 key - vim.host.ParallelScsiHba - 4 port SATA IDE Controller (ICH9) vmhba32 unknown ata_piix 0

    To obtain the status of storage devices, as seen in VI Client, you must watch HostStorageElementInfo API. This API gives the State of operation of the various components of storage. To access data from this API, you need to drill down to the next of the object "HostSystem: property

    runtime.healthSystemRuntime.hardwareStatusInfo.storageStatusInfo

    This will give the HostStorageElementInfo table and held the State values, as seen in the VI client.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Prevent the owner of the schema using development tools

    Hello world

    We are doing some tasks to meet the PCI DSS requirements. One of them is preventing the schema owner to log in using development tools (TOAD, sqlplus, plsqldev, SQL Developer...). I found a solution here:

    http://kamranagayev.com/2009/10/04/block-developers-from-using-Toad-and-other-tools-on-production-databases/

    But as comment said, if we change the name of the .exe file, we can easily connect. I thought to do info = module, no program info. I tried with no success. I read somewhere that in after logon, the client info trigger is not set completely. So that we can't get info module exactly after logon trigger (I tried and I have seen this module was same as program interviewed since the session$ v).

    Another comment suggested that we allow some programs to connect instead of refuse many unauthorized tools. I think it is a good idea. But I wonder if some guys know rename tool dev as our authorized tools and it can connect.

    If anyone has any ideas or solutions, please help me. Thank you.

    One solution is to use two schemas - detail a. has no privs assigned to it (not even CREATE SESSION), but contains all of the objects (tables, indexes, views, code, etc.). Diagram B does not all objects, but given privileges to operate on the objects belongs to priv a. withdrawal CREATE SESSION from scheme a scheme b (in for example Prod) will achieve your requirement.

  • How to prevent the host ESXi 6 to use the graphics card?

    In my ESXi host computer, I have a NVIDIA Quadro 2000 graphics card. However, the host takes the graphics card to start stop passthrough to Virtual Machines (VM). Is there a way to prevent the ESXI host enter the graphics card primary?

    There is no need to prevent the host from the use of the graphics card beyond to choose the graphics card to get through to a virtual machine. Do alerts if the host and the appropriate parameters are defined automatically. However, the Web Client vSphere does not reflect this behavior when running Firefox on Mac OSX 10.11.3 47.0.1. Recommend use if possible vSphere Client. It presents a panorama that is closer to the real situation within 6 ESXi. If the Web Client is not the height by the time vSphere client is relieved there will be real trouble.

    #2

    At this point, I think, the pilot VSGA vSphere installed as part of "vmware tools" on a virtual machine is required for the successful graphics card through to a monitor. The process of solving problems associated with a virtual machine to crash the host on VM shutdown or restart has led to the false impression that an uninstall of the VSGA vSphere pilot was necessary for the proper functioning of the virtual machine. Do not uninstall the driver VSGA vSphere.

    #3

    A virtual machine with passthrough crashing the ESXi host when to stop or restart a VM guest is not unusual. Click here to see an informative discussion about this and how to fix the problem. If the link does not head the Forum of the source, the House and perform a descriptive research. Essentially, the problem seems to be generated by the interaction of the VM with the PCIe bus on start/stop. In my case, after each accident, the ESXi host area before any PCIe 2 location where the graphic card is installed. See the transponder required for features in the BIOS of HP.

    ESXi through a GPU was a PITA. It is possible to give enough time and effort. VMware documentation is miserable, so dependent on human is a given. Be sure to leave breadcrumbs for others.

  • Problems to power state of the VM part 2 solutions

    Branching off from another thread to work on the final solution: that was my message of origin of the message string http://communities.VMware.com/message/1637244#1637244

    I advanced and tried to create a personalized decision-making. I used the following code in the part of the script of the decision:

    If (vm.state = 'receptor') {}

    Returns true;

    } else {}

    Returns false;

    }

    but I get an error when I run the workflow, indicating that he has no property named 'State '. VM is of type vc:virtualmachine. I got the syntax wrong somewhere? I have to somehow define an attribute or an outing to the value of vm.state in the main entrance and output parameters? Help a newbie here to get this sample to work.

    Paul

    Andreas responded with this:

    Hi Paul,.

    (1) it is a thread resolved - next time pls open an own thread

    (2) powerState is part of the runtimeInfo and no virtual machine so your code should look like this:

    return (VM.runtime.powerState == 'receptor');

    The term in parentheses is Boolean, then you can return it directly.

    In Java you use '=' to assign values! With "==" looking for equal or «!» ="on not equal.

    If the above code returns true on a virtual machine under tension and false to turn off the power and suspended.

    I think that solved your issue.

    This does not quite solve my question.  This code returns a powerState object.

    return (vm.runtime.powerState.name == 'receptor');

    Is the trick.

    So my question is why the documentation for the list of 'State' as a property of vc:virtualmachine?  What is a documentation error or related to the bug referenced in the release notes?

    Also, where is the best place to see a list of all the properties and methods for the different object types?  Sorry but I am a total novice in regards to the side things dev.  It is located in the api documentation set?

    Paul

    Hello

    Sorry for the frogotten .name - powerState is an enumeration.

    For me the best way to look for methods of properties is the API Explorer in VCO-Client (Explorer of Menu - Tools - API). So I have a clean to the search API window) when I'm editing workflows or action. There is also a small API framework explore in the editing window - but I use it only for a quick view.

    In wich documentation (doc / page) read vc:virtualmachine.state?

  • get the State of the service

    Hello

    I have a program running as a service (on windows, or as a daemon on linux), it is a way (perhaps via the vmware tools), to get the status of my own service inside the virtual machine?

    I want to be able to wait until the machine virtual, that it is running, or just check my status of service, is it possible?

    Thank you!

    You will probably run into the same problem with customField, if information for a reason any has not been entered correctly. You probably also know that it is not a best practice to keep your virtual machines have access to your management systems such as update of your virtual infrastructure, but if you're aware of this, then your solution will probably do what you need.

    Another idea is to have a custom script running on all your guests whether for Windows/Linux and have a common to all guestVMs repository that can communicate, say a NFS server. You can have it create a file that gives the State of the services you are interested in, then you can have an administrative VM that will analyze these files and then update the customField for each corresponding virtual machine. It's a job, but you can accomplish the task without having to each virtual machine must have access to the infrastructure.

  • Alarm, based on the State of the virtual machine

    Hello

    I just started to evaluate the vFoglight to monitor our infrastructure VMware and so far, I really like the product, but there are a lot of things to take.

    Y at - it a predefined alarm that will enhance and alert and send me an email if a virtual machine crashes or goes offline? The default rule "VMW Virtual Machine power status change" will do that?  I feel that this will tell me if the virtual computer is shut down or restarted, but could not workout if it marked the top if a virtual machine has frozen or crashed.

    In the past I did using the base "no heartbeat Mike" in vsphere.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Hi Dan,.

    The Virtual Machine VMW power state change will do as below:

    Goal
    This rule triggers an alarm if a virtual machine has been suspended or powered down recently.

    The rule definition
    Conditions                                                                                           State   Action
    The virtual machine was not suspended or updates turned off recently.     Normal no
    The virtual machine has been suspended recently.                               No warning
    The virtual machine has been powered down recently.                                Reviews email VMware admin
