  I just tried to extend a drive that resides on a network drive and it works fine. Do you provide the full path to the file hard?

  I read a few threads on this subject and they say to delete all snapshots. Don't have any as soon as I used the vmrun program to list all snapshots for this virtual machine and it returned 0.

  It seems that there is typo in the file extensions of the virtual disk, i.e. '.vdmk' instead of 'hard '!

  I'm under Linux Debian Etch in a virtual machine supplied by my employer. Recently, I tried to delete a directory of CLI and GUI and VM Fusion 1.x would die, forcing me to interrupt the process. I finally reduced to the file in question and put it on a directory that intend to leave it there indefinitely. I tried to run vmware-vdiskmanager but in Fusion 1.x, the r repair option was not available.

  Today, I had to restart my image of the linux kernel and I was told that the player had been mounted 24 times without running fsck then a check was forced. It gets exactly to 21.7% in this audit and fails in exactly in the same way (see screenshots). I updated to Fusion 2.0.1 and run vmware-vdiskmanager - R on it and he said: ' no errors not found on the virtual disk, ' another Linux kernel 2.6.x - 000001.vmdk'.» I ran a d - defrag that completed successfully, but the problem persists. I'm unable to boot the image because of this problem.

  I thought maybe I could use the 2.0.1 new star and mount the drive on my Mac and then delete the file from there, and maybe that will fix it. But if I try to install the 00001.vmdk file, I get the error "could not mount the partitions: the virtual disk is not any partition the host system knows how to ride." If I try to mount the biggest hard file, I get the error "it is not safe to mount the virtual drive.  It can be attached to a suspended virtual machine or power, or it can be inside an instant string. "(Maybe I'm not mount correctly?)

  I enclose a cleaning (only attempt) vmware.log file below. If it is not a good way to fix my current VM, is it possible to use vmware-vdiskmanager to copy the content of this image of a new image in a manner that would not have the problem? I have a time machine backup that I can come back, however I can not go back very far or my work is going to be updated. And while the backup will get me the ability to run the image because I get, I'm likely to be in the same boat next time, I need to restart.

  fsck and vmware-vdiskmanager check the work on different layers. VMware-vdiskmanager verifies that the representation of the Fusion of the virtual disk is consistent; fsck checks the comments file system conforms. It's like the difference between check a drive for errors S.M.A.R.T. and make fsck.

  Screenshots can indicate a bad block on the hard disk physical - if the error was limited to the virtual machine, it shouldn't cause Fusion to raise an error. If you look at the end of the log, merge seems not to read the same address and finally gives up. Since we use standard API for reading/writing files, it's probably not a problem with the merger and a problem with the hardware or the host file system.

  The biggest file hard is indeed within a chain of snapshot - 00001, vmdk file is a snapshot and depends on the original. Because you are using a Linux host, there's probably an ext2 or ext3 file system. Unfortunately, OS X does not include this, then even if the merger can go "here is a disc", OS X stares at her blankly. There is an experimental ext2 filesystem plugin that would do this job, but I hear it has stability problems.

  I think your best bet is either replace the fsck check (not sure if you can do it, but I suppose naively you can) or boot from other media able to recognize the file system (either a live CD or create a new virtual machine and fix the existing vmdk - if you do the last) (, make sure you use the child - 00001.vmdk not the basic disk).

  The command you use creates two files hard, hard to header/descriptor file and data / flat.vmdk. To use this virtual disk, you need two files and should see the virtual machine to the file descriptor hard configuration (.vmx).

• What happened to vmware-vdiskmanager?

  Documentaion indicates that vmware-vdiskmanager should be on the host in/usr/bin.  I have a new installation of 5.0.0 and there is no vmware-vdiskmanager that I can find.

  Anyone know where he's hiding?  I really could use it.

  VMware-vdiskmanager is used with hosted VMware products. For ESX (i) the vmkfstools command can be used.

  I am to evaluate vmware ESXi and want to create a virtual disk to be shared between client computers.  All my research tells me that I need to run vmware-vdiskmanager.   I am unable to find it anywhere.

  I used SSH ssh in the ESXi host and even looked through / usr/bin and there is no indication of vmware-vdiskmanager

  The guest operating system will only see the size that you have configured for the virtual disk and can only grow in this format. If you need more space, you can change the settings of the virtual machine and push the disc. After that, you will need to resize partitions that you created in your guest OS.

• USB and drive not recognised on a Mac SuperDrive

  I'm under VMWare Fusion 3.02 with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 as my host and XP as my guest.  When the virtual machine is turned off, I can use connections USB and drive SuperDrive on my Mac without problem.  However, when the virtual machine is on I can't get the host to either recognize but they work under XP.  Is there a way to fix this?

  In Fusion, Virtual Machine, USB.  Click on "disconnect...". "on each item that you want to stop using in the virtual machine.

  To have the VM not automatically 'catch' a USB specific peripheral (s), in the settings, USB for the virtual computer, uncheck the box or devices.

  Do you similar for the Superdrive, which is registered as a CD/DVD in the Fusion menus and settings.

  Assuming that I understand your question and the description of the information that you see, the 1.6 GB is the rear size If you choose to save.   Yes, you can use another card without changing your code. As long as you used the VISA, you can use any desired GPIB controller. If you stay with the GPIB controllers of OR, you can use the same driver, you have now.

  I have a problem of Age of Empires 2 running on my new computer. Keeps displaying the following error message: "cannot initialize the graphics system.   I had the above problem with AOEII:Age of the Kings. My brief spec is Windows 7 Ultimate edition (SP1) and a card nVidia 8600 GT. I did the following (make sure you reboot after each installation):

  Make sure that you are running the latest patch of AOEII:AOK (2. 0 a):

  Download and install the latest version of DirectX:

  Download and install the latest nVidia Driver suite. I left the autodetect my card software and reset all my default settings. I also installed the full software suite:

  Finally, right click on the shortcut of AOE and click Properties. Click on the Compatibility tab and select the following:

  -Run this program in compatibility mode - choose Windows XP Service Pack 2 (!) NOT 3!)
  -Disable visual themes
  -Disable the Composition of the Bureau
  -Run this program as an administrator

  One of the above options maybe work on its own, but that's what I had to do to make it work and I tested it after each step.
