  I tried several times to install "MS16-019: Description of the update of security for .NET Framework 3.5.1 in Windows 7 Service Pack 1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1" on a Windows Server 2008 R2, running Service Pack 1

  Windows Update has always ends with 'Failure' / has encountered an unknown error. Code 80073712

  The convenience store has not solved it either.

  The server is not really exposed to 'outside' as such, runs in a local network, regular, small; but sometimes, a web browser may be in use.

  Is there anything that can / should be done here to remedy the failure of the installation? Or free time and even not to worry about this?

  Also note that you can not the role Hyper-V installed in the parent partition, if you want to run the VMware using VT products, as Hyper-V virtualizes the parent partition, but it only virtualizes the VT CPU features.

  ETA: I tried to disable the firewall on the server to see if that was the problem and still not connect. He asked for credentials three times, and then returned "access denied" with no further details. Frustrating!

Well, the agent connects to the Windows VM source very well (I used the net use command to create a line of conduct...), perhaps no chance to connect to the computer target VMware ESxi 4 and make the converter doesn't work...

  Following is the error message:

  "Unable to connect to the host specified" from the converter agent machine. " It is perhaps because the host is not available on the network, there is a problem with the network configuration or management on this host services do not react. Check all components of converter to be able to connect.

  So, my question is; is it possible to create a work around (like the net use Windows command above) to make possible the connection of the converter Agent on Linux VMware ESXi 4 machine Windows machine, to directly import the virtual machines of Windows Hyper-V to Linux VMware?

  Which will convert *.vhd *.vmdk, so you don't need to do all this... Of course, another way is to start the machines, leaving them on Hyper-V and go through the network and process virtual machine as physical machines and do a P2V on the network...

• Clone Windows Server 2008 VM, Sysprep?

  I ran into a situation where I'm cloning a VM Windows Server 2008 R2. We have a basic vanilla installation, updates are performed, and Windows is enabled on this virtual machine. We also have an enterprise multiactivation license. The final goal is to be able to clone the virtual machine several times, insert the roles and give it an identity of the vanilla configuration.

  My question is:

  What are the steps so that the cloned VM work properly with the other cloned VM in the same installation of vanilla, but have different roles (application server, database server, etc.). I'm leaning toward the type Sysprep command.

  Hello Aloha808,

  Looks like you have already done most of the work to be done: you have an installation of base which is updated. You have a vCenter environment? This will allow you to turn this 'basic vanilla install' into a model. If you don't do this, you must clone the virtual machine and then make a sysprep manually (be sure to change the SID).

  If you have vCenter: convert this virtual machine into a template to use as server 'statue of gold"which will create other servers. Then, you create a customization specification. It is located in the vSphere Client under Home > Manager Customization specifications (here's a link with more information). Finally, make you a "deploy model" on the model, enter server information and then apply the customization to deployment. VMware will then sysprep for you.

  Accompaniment of the victim has a customer you are trying to view .chm files in Windows Server 2008. They went ahead and tried the registry fix from the 'normal' to view chm on a network files, but that does not solve the issue.

  My understanding is that chm files cannot be seen at all in Windows Server, but thought I would check - is it possible to view chm files in Windows Server 2008?

  I don't think that something has changed in Windows 2008 and .chm files are certainly visible in this version of Windows. However, it may be that the customer needs to tinker with the security settings in Internet Explorer to make the visible distance .chm files. See this article for more details:

  I am running Server 2008 r2 Service Pack 1.

  It works internally since December 2013 without update.

  After the update/patch a new image, or Server Manager or Microsoft Management Console features are accessible, I even tried opening the dialog box run GPEDIT. All the same error:

• Viewing JPG and GIF files crashes the server (Windows Server 2008)

  I work in an office with windows server 2008 and we are having a problem where the right click images and choosing preview or open with IE will crash our server, then everyone must wait 3 minutes to go.  I tried like 2 hours and cannot find any info on this problem online.  Everyone knows about this problem with Server 2008?  It seems to be very consistent and arrived on different images (JPG, GIF) until we had to install a third Viewer left - but the problem is still there and now and then someone accidentally blocking us.

  I have tested what it about three times what about everyone when it crashes - but so far I'm 3 for 3, so I don't think it's randomly occurring even though I don't know if led EACH image.

  This problem occur if you select the OS install disc when the VM... in this way creating the VMware Workstation uses a feature called Easy Install, where you will be asked for more information, including the user credentials.
