VMWare Workstation 6.5.2 on Vista 64-bit host

When I installed Workstation 6.5.2 on 64-bit Vista, it installs in a directory named C:\Program Files (x 86) \VMware\VMware Workstation tell me that he installed a 32-bit version.

Y at - it a x 64 version of Workstation or is it only a 32-bit version of the workstation?

I want to assure you that I am not missing out on something

Thank you

Kevin

you are right, the installation is 32 and 64, but is 32.  By activating the VT in the BIOS, you will be able to run the x 64 guests.

I am trying to load the 64-bit version of the workstation 9 on a 64-bit windows system 7.

I down loaded the bundle (VMware-workstation-full-version 9.0.0 - 812388.exe) that has the 64-bit and 32-bit.  When I run the Setup, it puts

    I have two questions

    (1) how to determine which version of workstation (64 or 32) I loaded?

    (2) if it is 32, how a force installing 64-bit?

VMware Workstation is the two 32-bit 64 bit.  On 64-bit host, it uses a 64-bit vmware-vmx with it process the lats and the Virtual Machine itself, but the front-end GUI is 32-bit.

  • installation of vmware workstation 6.5 on windows 10 error

After you install vmware workstation 6.5 on windows 10 it gets error and restart. Is vmware workstation 6.5 support windows 10? FAILED TO INSTALL. vmware workstation 6.5 on windows 8, 8.1 and 10 support. ALL SUPPORT. I still don't understand...

VMware Workstation 6.x do not support Windows 10 and will never support Windows 10.

VMware Workstation 6.x reached "end of support" four years, October 1, 2011: Matrix.pdf product lifecycle

We produce updates for release until its date of "end of support".  A product may not work properly with host OSes, processors or comments OSes that are not compatible with the product, especially the things that have been published after the date of "end of support".  We put a huge amount of effort to ensure that new hardware and operating systems works with each new major release of VMware Workstation, but we cannot go back and update any previous version of product to add support for all hardware and operating systems more recent.  If we tried to do this, VMware Workstation cost much more that it is today, simply because of the amount of work required to maintain!

You need to upgrade your installation of VMware Workstation to something more recent, or downgrade your host operating system to a version compatible with VMware Workstation 6.5.

    I hope this helps!

  • Poor performance in VMWare Workstation 10 comments VM, score on memory Windows experience index is low

Specification of the host is A10-5800 AMD CPU & 8 GB DDR3 - 1600 RAM(dual-channel), running VMware workstation 10 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1. WEI (Windows experience index) score on memory is 7.3.

Comments is running Windows 7 Professional 32-bit SP1. VMware tool has been installed. The WEI score on memory is only 4.5. I can feel the difference when you work in the guest, because of the bad performance RAM problem.

Some way to optimize the performance of comments?

Can I assume that the customer has more than 960 MB and less than 1.5 GB of memory?  The more possible memory under-score with less than 1.5 GB memory is 4.5.

  • Questions to install VMware Workstation

Hello everyone and thank you for your interest in my post.  For the last 6 months I spent reviewing messages to build and run a secure Channel 5 on a laboratory at home and collected a lot of information.  Budget delays I am not near my goal I thought I'd be so I thought I would get something on my current equipment with VMware Workstation.

I got a 64 bit Windows 7 with Intel I7 processor gaming computer and wanted to add Workstation 8 or 9 now that it is out.  Finally, I would like to build some virtual labs, but now want to get running in the virtual world.

Help for the following questions would be appreciated.

1 install Workstation 8 on a Windows 7 64 bit computer or do a clean install on the computer and run a Windows 7 as a virtual machine?

If a clean install Workstation 8 or 9 is recommended how could I get my image of Windows 7 today converted to a virtual machine before the clean install?

Guess the question would be, is I there a VM tool that can convert an image of current computer hardware in a virtual machine so that I can run on a new installation of VMware Workstation 9?

    2. what steps should be taken to migrate from a hardware configuration to a configuration of the VM on the same box?

    3. what risks are there to lose data?

    4. what license issued or limitations can I exect meet when I create several virtual machines, alias windows, Linux and others?  Can you build and run several different VMS at the same time?

    5. return to the VM tools, I know on the side of Vsphere there are tools to create virtual machines for ESXi, but what tools are there for Workstation 8 or 9 build and run virtual machines?

That ye may know that my training and the ability to understand your answers I was in the field of information technology since 1990.  Currently, I am a network engineer and have experience as a non-virtuelle system administrator installs computer and server and operation.

Thanks again to all who help out.  I hope that once I get the speed I can contribute to the community as well.

    David

Since you are a "Network Engineer and have experience as a system administrator" then IMO shouldn't really ask!   How hard is it to type 'physical to virtual' in Google and get to VMware vCenter Converter?  Also read the documentation on it as well as VMware Workstation!   Yes I know you said "on non-virtuelle installs computer and server and operation" however do practically is fundamentally not different then do it physically, although with virtualization, there are additional methods that can be used, as using an ISO Image vs optical media to install from, etc.  Seriously with your course, you should be able to install VMware Workstation, browse and examine the different menu commands and create VM almost without having to read the documentation however takes the time to at least he skim initially and then jump in.    As a tip activate everything installs Windows without first installing VMware Tools, if you plan to install VMware Tools in the virtual machine, and wait until you are sure that you have configured as you want, and then select as appropriate.

One thing you'll need to do if you are using the latest version of VMware vCenter Converter you will need to select the correct mass storage controller as you walk through the wizard because it is by default in the IDE and you want LSI SAS with Windows 7.

  • VMware Workstation

Why VMware Workstation is no more x 86 32 bit? I'll be back from vmware and now I see that the 8 and 9 are only x 64

Workstation 8 is the first version that requires an x 86-64- compatible CPU

I don't really know why it is, but since version 8 was released its only for x 86-64 processors, I used the first versions too and they work well on the 32-bit pc, but I don't know why this is the change, perhaps to x 64 it works better a young and its infrastructure is more robust and more reliable and stable

Windows 7 as a host is not supported up to what VMware Workstation 7. You can run Windows 7 as a GUEST/VM under WS 6.5.3, but not as the host. You can use the guide to compatibility/guest conductor OS here: http://www.vmware.com/resources/compatibility/search.php?deviceCategory=software to see for yourself...

  • Inconsistent start in VMware 6.5.1 on Fedora 10 64-bit

Hello.  I am running VMware Workstation 6.5.1 on a 64-bit Fedora 10 installation.

I struggle from VMware.  I did a quick launch icon to run "/ usr/bin/vmware", and I have to click on something like 10 times in the order so he could get.  However, he just finally upward.  Looks like a strange condition for me.  Here are the error messages that I get to the course at startup failed.  If anyone else has experienced this?

LDD: you leave with unknown exit code (132)

LDD: you leave with unknown exit code (139)

/ usr/lib/VMware/bin/VMware: error while loading shared libraries: libgnomecanvasmm - 2.6.so.1: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

/ usr/lib/VMware/bin/VMware-modconfig: error while loading shared libraries: libview.so.2: cannot open shared object file: no such file or directory

Sometimes, it will be a combination of the above.

All my modules are compiled and correctly loaded.  I have no errors when you do "/etc/init.d/vmware restart".  This works perfectly.  In the output of lsmod, I see these 4 modules running: vmnet, vmblock, vmci, vmmon.  So I know this isn't a problem.

It is strange that I get these errors, loading, although only.  All libraries are in effect on the system.  The script/usr/bin/vmware is supposed to find these libraries, is it not?

And for the record, I followed all the recommendations I knew get VMware Workstation installed on Fedora 10.  Here is a summary, please let me know if I forgot something:

    (1) in etc/modprobe.conf.d, create a new file.  Add the 3 lines to this file: 'blacklist kvm', 'black kvm_intel list', 'blacklist kvm_amd. "  Reset.  If you already have these modules loaded, simply unloading with "rmmod" is not good enough.  You must restart.

    (2) remove the kvm userspace as well, with "yum erase kvm.

    (3) install the compatibility library, with "yum install compat-expat1.  VMware uses a slightly older version of the libexpat library and it will fail to load unless you manually install earlier version for compatibility.

    (4) move the directory to/usr/lib/vmware/modules/binary pre-existing from the road.  Run 'vmware-modconfig - console - install-all ".  This will rebuild your modules.  I had no errors at all during this operation.  If you get errors, you does not have enough features development during installation of Fedora 10.

    (5) fix the bug of keyboard, or you won't be able to tap the arrows of your reliable keyboard on the computers of your guests.  Once you get up VMware and running, close all open Windows VMware and edit your $HOME/.vmware/preferences file.  Add this line to the bottom: xkeymap.nokeycodeMap = 'TRUE '.

    Thank you!

    Josh

At least on my machine, the problem is indeed due to the bug in Fedora 488449.

There is a workaround solution indicated in the #15 comment:

    https://Bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=488449#c15

When I modify my script/usr/bin/ldd using the workaround, vmware lance constantly. Hope that helps!

  • VMware Workstation - Vista installation stops at "Completing Installation"

Any help in getting this to install entirely would be much appreciated.
