Try Workstation 6.5, which is a free upgrade to Workstation 6.0.4.  At some point you upgraded the virtual equipment of the virtual machine.  The virtual hardware Workstation 7.0 is compatible with Workstation 6.5, but it is not compatible with Workstation 6.0.

  • I'll be able to run VMware Workstation on Win 2008 Web edition?

    Hi all

It is my first post so I apologize if this question has been answered before but I have a hard time finding the location of research right and the forum.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

The host is currently a windows Server 2003 with vmware worksation installed... We have a... hp Server will spare...

TO clarify, you'll move VMware Workstation on a different host?

They are for example only development as a domain controller to run various bits n bobs in the dev environment.

If the host is still underway for dev, and you don't mind being in a bit of territory not supported, so go ahead and try.  Download Workstation test and see what happens.  As I said, as far as I KNOW, Web Edition may miss a few things like some of the tools of administration or server roles.  But that will probably not e problem to host virtual machines.

If there are known issues with VMware workstatsion and web 2008 so that we would have to look at a change in the operating system.

Beyond the legal bits on not not using Web Edition, for anything other than web hosting, I suppose that you'd be ok.  What is the attitude of your shop to Linux?  Or license Windows 2003 current server, can it be transferred to the HP Server?  (e.g. non - OEM license or volume license.)

  • Update of VMware ACE and VMware Workstation

I bought VMware ACE there a few times and got VMware Workstation 6.5.0.

I always use VMware Workstation 6.5.0 to protected generateACE packets.

Can I update WMware Workstation version update (say 6.5.3) without losing the ACE capabilities?

Can I update ACE as well?

Am I entitled to upgade to WMware Workstation 7 without having to buy it again?

    Concerning

    Marius

You can update 6.5.3. without any problem.

But you cannot use vmware workstation7 since the license that you purchased (6.5) does not work with the 7 workstation.

Also, you cannot use the old license for the new version of the vmware ace management server.

  • Confused about VMware Workstation 7 ACE?

Back with Workstation 6 and 6.5, we had bought a license for the edition of the ACE. In retrospect, we never took him, but we thought it was a good upgrade to pay for just in case. I remembered that the part of the ACE has been activated by inserting the license appropriate for that key.

With Workstation 7, we bought the 'normal' version, but now we are not sure that we made the right decision. are there versions now SEPARATE - ACE and non-ACE edition? They are different programs? Or are they even once, the same program and they are simply registered/activated different by what series/license key I entered during installation (a bit like Windows 7)?

There is no installer / separate from ACE.

Identical to its Workstation 6.5, installing Workstation 7 if the ACE license key is provided then features ACE will activate.

Even during installation if the Workstation serial key is provided and later if you want features ACE then launch desktop, goto help-> enter serial number and license ACE key and now close and reopen my computer. (ACE will be activated)

So I chose Restore my Vista before installing on my VMWARE of ve. It works again my buttons work...

BUT I need to install this software (vmware) for my use of employment.

    Please help me

  • Toshiba button Support do not work with VMware Workstation

    Hi all

for all people having the same problem - * Support Button Toshiba do not work after the installation of VMware Workstation.*

    Short solution:
After the installation of vmware workstation 6.x or 7 - the default setting is "Disable Autorun on the host". (you can find it in: Edit-> preferences-> devices). Release the hook and restart. After the reboot, the buttons should be working.

    The long version:
Support Button Toshiba uses the Windows function "MobilePC" - > "Hotstart". HotStart only works when the autostart feature is not disabled (the value of registry key: + HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Po licies\Explorer\NoDriveTypeAutoRun + has the value 0xFF). VMware is the default to disable Autorun of CD/DVD. Turn on the autorun, restart the Qosmio and Hotstart (and also Toshiba button support) works very well. That's the problem.

    Greeting
    Thomas Wermuth

    Thanks for the solution. :)

  • VMWare Workstation and Windows 7 64 bit

Someone had problems with VMWare Workstation running Windows 7 64 bit? My computer hangs when creating the virtual machine guests. I also have VirtualBox running very stable with Windows 7. I was wondering if anyone has had problems? VMWare has a new version of 7 who suppose to be stable with Windows 7. I am skeptical. Your comments are welcome.

"There is a time and place for that. The time is... Never. You can figure out the place on your own.

I have no problem with VMware Workstation 7.0.1 build 227600 and Windows 7 Ultimate edition. It works like desingned.

  • VMware Workstation Player does not start on Fedora 23

I've recently updated to Fedora 22 23 Fedora and can no longer run VMware Workstation 12.0.1 Player.

I tried to uninstall the component using sudo vmware-Installer - components uninstall = vmware-player and then put it back, nothing will do. The installation is always successful, but when I try to run the application, it runs for a little while, then give up. I tried to uninstall it remove once again the previous configuration, but it still doesn't work.

    I am running

    Workstation Fedora 23

    Linux kernel 4.2.6 - 300.fc23.x86_64

    3.18.1 GNOME release

I got it working by following this link: http://rglinuxtech.com/?p=1624

It's a very simple solution. Basically, you just copy the libraries that are not in the directory of vmware.

As root, run the following commands:

    # cd /usr/lib/vmware/lib
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libgio-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libgio-2.0.so.0/libgio-2.0.so.0
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libglib-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libglib-2.0.so.0/libglib-2.0.so.0
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libgmodule-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libgmodule-2.0.so.0/libgmodule-2.0.so.0
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libgobject-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libgobject-2.0.so.0/libgobject-2.0.so.0
    # cp -afv /usr/lib64/libgthread-2.0.so.0.4600.2 libgthread-2.0.so.0/libgthread-2.0.so.0

Although I have not yet tested all virtual machines, this has at least the operational programme. It should solve the problem entirely. If for some reason vmware is not installed in/usr/lib/vmware, just replace the directory there. If you are unsure, running vmware whereis should tell you.

    Edit:

I can say that this solution was able to load my virtual machines with great success. I don't need to reinstall VMWare on one of the boxes of Fedora, however (and removing the configuration files), but after that, it worked fine.

  • Network bridge in VMware Workstation 11 connection problems

I have bridged network connection problems in VMware Workstation 11. So far I have tried:

Re: Windows Pro/Ent 8.1 Overview invited - stop Windows Net Performance, away from work

Re: Flow very slow network-> Guest host, but no comments <-home

So far, none of the solutions worked. I turned off "Large Send Offload" on each adapter that I could find on the host and the guest. Nothing. Restore these settings in any combination with other out does not work either. I edited the .vmx file and replace by vmxnet3 occurrences, and that no longer works. So far nothing I've tried has worked. I disabled all firewall and antivirus. Still nothing. When I run Guest OS Windows Network Diagnostics, I get the "your modem broadband has connectivity problems." However, I know that this is not the case. I also used the "Virtual Network Editor" to force the bridge connection to select the correct network card (in my case, it's the Intel Centrino Wireless - N 1030 wireless card), but still no luck. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thank you

So I finally the solution look. BitDefender firewall was blocking all traffic on the connection Bridged in VMware Workstation. I have disabled the firewall completely Bitdefender and Bridged Networking worked perfectly. I'll probably create another topic more precisely around Bitdefender firewall configuration to allow traffic network through Bridged from VMware.

  • Freezing of construction-2496824 VMWare Workstation 11.1.0

    Hello

I have a Windows 7 x 64 using Workstation 11.1.0 host (assessment of the trial).  I have a Windows 8.1 Pro x 64 running virtual machine.  It is the only virtual machine running.  A few minutes after starting the virtual machine, the virtual machine and the Workstation locks.

I do Ctrl + Alt + Delete and open the host Task Manager.  VMware.exe is always 25% of the CPU (I have a Core i7-4600U, so there are 4 cores with hypertheads).  VMware - vmx.exe CPU usuage varies.  My only option is to kill the process vmware.exe.  Then, the host runs normally.  To run the windows 8.1 host once again, I have to restart the computer, as it says the prompt is used.

When the computer restarts normally that's fine.  But this time he started running slow after a minute.  I opened the windows Task Manager.  Once it is open (after 10 minutes) I found that the CPU utilization was only 1% or more.  After 10 or 15 minutes of looking around, I started to kill the VMware processes.  After that I took some to the host ran normally.  It's working normally now.

The issue of freezing happened 4 or 5 times in two or three days.  When I kill computer vmware.exe always goes back to normal.

I did a few things like proactive:

    (1) add folder VM to the exclusion list antivirus, windows search, exclusion of our backup software list exclusion list.

    (2) remove the floppy and CD drive from the list of virtual machine hardware.  I read that could cause a hang upwards.

The event log does not contain something interesting.   I have attached all newspapers of vmware, I have for the machine virtual windows 8.1.

Any suggestions on what I can do next to try to solve this further?

The host is not lock it just the vmware workstation app.  I wanted to clarify that.

Other than the VM Pro 8.1 Windows only other VM I have is Windows XP Mode.  I started the XP Mode VM and it has always worked very well after having worked in the virtual machine for an hour.  I then restarted the VM of Windows 8.1 and three minutes later, he locked and workstation.  I see two vmware - vmx.exe treated one to 25% CPU usage in Task Manager (I presume VM Windows 8.1) and the other with barley any use of CPU (likey XP Mode).  Vmware.exe also has 25% CPU usage as before.

I'm in the resource monitor and to suspend the process vmware - vmx.exe which uses 25% cpu and now a workstation and the XP Mode VM work properly.  I then clicked on 'stop' the machine virtual windows 8.1 and has resumed the vmx process.  VM stop the 8.1 Windows workstation with success.  Workstation and the XP Mode VM still work normally.

So certainly issue between the workstation and the machine virtual windows 8.1 but I am not a guru vm or work station, so I can't determine what is the question.

    Edit

Repeat the question.  Is a wait analyze on vmware.exe chain in resource monitored and must wait on himself: "one or more threads to vmware.exe wait to finish i/o network." and "vmware.exe PID XXXX 6208" Thread.  So some kind of blocking of the thread?  When I suspend the vmware - vmx.exe running to my VM of Windows 8.1 then the vmware.exe CPU usage goes to 0%. But the wait vmware.exe watch chain still he waits on itself with the same message as above.  I then return to the vmware-vmx process and the CPU goes up to 25%.

I can fix things without killing the process vmware or vmx suspend windows 8.1 vmx process, use windows 7 taskbar live preview for click shutdown (square button) and then resume the vmx process.  At that point the 8.1 windows vm shutsdown immediately and the workstation (with the xp mode vm) is operating normally.

He has worked to find a few days but starting to give me this problem.

    Edit2

OK problem solved I think.  Our IT technician installed Malwarebytes Anti-malware over another anti-virus/anti-malware program.   Which was causing the computer to 'lock' (run slow but cpu was near 0% so desire ' cpu loading) during start, sounds a different problem than what I saw, but it may affect both workstation.  Also my VMs used NAT so I tried to switch to bridged and disabled the NAT and DHCP service.  Featured two fewer services to run.  Don't know which of those (if any) was causing the problem, but after those changes it works (for the most part very well).
