VMWorkstation 9 - fusion ubunto split vdisk

Is it possible to merge a split disc into one disc?

The host is 12,04 ubuntu x 64 with VMWorkstation 9. He is currently running Win7 and Win8 hosts who both have a virtual disk that is divided into several small vdisk. Is it possible and how to convert a drive to split in a single disc, which means merging the disc in a single virtual disk?

Thank you

Try this.  Search with Google in less than a minute.  You CAN try at home.

    How is the fusion handled for gateways that include a split and fusion, as parallel/complex/understood?

    I see no mechanism currently for the reconciliation of the data that may have been modified in multiple threads when their merger into one chip.

    Is this still in effect?

    Hello
    The initial implementation of BPM 11 g does take into account the semantics of Split-Join as we had in OBPM 10 gR 3 where spawning new threads would have deprived set of instances that could then be aggregated with a certain logic in the join. The current semantics in State of BPMN 2.0 all spawn thread from a walkway that share the same set of instance variables and everyone would have access to read and update these. Join gateway would simply control in the proceeding in the bridge to join must go ahead.

    Pure how to install OSX on a Fusion drive and keep the recovery disc function

    These instructions assume that your iMAC partitions or file systems has been damaged and you want to restore to the way most efficiency with fusion drive and the recovery partition, similar to what was built in the factory.

    These instructions work for the iMAC, retina 5K end 2014 version comes with OSX Yosemite. The scores of major drive of the 128 G SSD and 3 TB of HARD drive has been configured as a logical drive (merger by car).

    WARNING: These instructions here are shared for interest only. Readers to take their own risk by following these instructions. The author is not responsible for any damage caused by following these instructions.

    This is the target disk partitions, and the configuration that we want to achieve.

    Disk0 is the 128 GB SSD - solid state drive and holds the start of the partition (disk0s3)

    Disk1 is the 3.0 to HDD - mechanical transmission and holds the Recovery HD partition.

    There are two EFI partitions to partition table GUID on both hard drives (disk0s1, disk1s1).

    Disk space remaining (partition disk0s2 and disk1s2) are used to create the disc of Fusion 3.1 to named "Macintosh HD".

    Fusion unencrypted drive

    Here's how we do it.

    • A. clean reinstallation of Mac OS x.
    • 1. make sure that you back up all your data on the hard drive using Time Machine or other means. The following procedure will delete all data.
    • 2. create the OSX install USB, insert it to the MAC workstation.
    • 3. given that us will be operated on the internal trunk of the reader of the Mac, it must start on OSX install USB (see Y.).
    • 4. in the menu at the top of the screen, select disk utilities.
    • 5. turn highlighted the volume of disk Fusion called "Macintosh HD." Click clear to clean.
    • 6. If his success, then go ahead to install OSX new to that partition, as usual.
    • 7. otherwise, if it does not, that means fusion drive has been damaged.
    • 8 follow the instructions below to fix it.
    • . B. Split disc Fusion in the physical hard disks
    • 1. Since us will be operated on the internal drive of the Mac trunk, assumes that we already have boot up OSX install USB drive (see Y.).
    • 2. in the menu at the top of the screen, select utilities and Terminal.
    • 3. on the screen of the terminal type:
    • Cs diskutil list.
    • You will see something similar to the screen below.
    • 4 copy the long string after Logical Volume and replace the UUID with it in the following command to delete the logical volume of the disc fusion (aka coreStorage of logical volume):
    • diskutil deletevolume cs UUID
    • For example:
    • diskutil deletevolume E59B5A99-F8C1-461A-AE54-6EC11B095161 cs
    • 5 copy the long string after the logical volume group and replace the UUID with it in the following command to remove the drive (aka coreStorage) fusion:
    • diskutil cs remove UUID
    • p. ex. diskutil cs remove E03B3F30-6A1B-4DCD-9E14-5E927BC3F5DC
    • 6. at this stage, the fusion drive has been deleted, and hardsisk SSD and mechanical hard drive will be reappear in diskutil or separate records.
    • 7. If step 5 or 6 takes more than 30 minutes to complete, this means that the fusion drive has been corrupted. You can follow the commands below to clear the table to partition the hard way. First command clears the SSD drive, second command erases the HARD drive.
    • The command does not return a response, after 1 minute, press Ctrl + Z to complete orders. 1 minute is enough data to code and erase the partition table on the disk.
    • cat/etc/random >/dev/disk0
    • cat/etc/random >/dev/disk1
    • . C install a new copy of Mac OS x for the hard drive HDD and tested this disk partition hard recovery work.
    • 1. go on diskutil to create a partition called Macintosh HD HDD hard drive using all the space there.
    • 2 do the same with the mechanical hard drive.
    • 3. follow the usual procedure to boot from the installation of OSX USB and install a new copy of Mac OS x hard disk SSD.
    • 4. This will create the correct priming of the partitions, recovery hard drive partitions and PSX partitions hard disk HDD.
    • 5. once the installation is complete, test if OSX may start successfully, but no need to go through the initial MAC OS x didn't put in place that we're going to waste this and do the installation again later.
    • 6. we must now test if the recovery hard drive partition works.
    • 7. reboot for hard drive recovery (see X - by pressing command and R at the same time during boot right after that you hear sound start and release only a few seconds after you see the apple logo and the progress bar for loading...)
    • 8. it is important to test and make sure that the partition of hard drive recovery.
    • D. recreate the fusion drive
    • 1 since us will be operated on the internal trunk of the reader of the Mac, it must start on OSX install USB (see Y.).
    • 2. in the menu at the top of the screen, select utilities and Terminal.
    • 3
    . on the screen of the terminal type:
  • diskutil list.
  • You should find that we have a list of disk group hard physical volume only, no logic here still.
  • 4. you will see something similar to the screen below.
  • 5. search for the largest partition on the SSD hard drive, which should be close to the maximum size of HDD to the SSD (121 G, for example) and mark the name of the device, this will usually be something like/dev/disk0s2
  • 6. search the largest disk partition mechanical forming fusion with the SSD hard drive. This should be close to the maximum size of the mechanical hard drive (for example 3 TB) hard disk and mark the name of the device, this will usually be something like/dev/disk1s2
  • 7
  • . Now let's create the merger in car (group alias logical volume) in the Terminal, type: diskutil cs create nom_lecteur driveIDs
  • The number of the driveIDs is unlimited, it may be a number of discs, or a number of disk partitions. Always put the faster discs first, for example for our SSD disk0s2
  • For example:
  • diskutil cs create fusiondrive disk0s2 disk1s2
  • diskutil - the version of disk utility command line.
    cs - This calls for Core Storage, which is necessary for the merger.
    create - creates a basic storage group.
    nom_lecteur - is the name of the drive and how you want that he
  • appear in the disk utility (not the Finder - that comes later). You can call it what you like; in our example, we named our Fusion table "Fusion".

  • driveIDs - Here is the Player IDs of the readers you want as part of your Fusion table, separated by a space. In our example, they are 'disk0' and 'disk1', but it may be different in your configuration.
  • It is important that the faster hard drive appears first in the command, which in our case the disk0s2 (a partition in the SSD). In this way, drive fusion will use this disk as primary and the cache. The second disc in the command, in this case disk1s2 (a partition on the HARD disk). The secondary disk (HARD drive) is used to store less frequently used files.  Otherwise, the fusion drive performance will be worse that it is designed for.
  • 8. you will see something like below appear on the screen:
  • Creation Volume logical storage of kernel
  • Move isk0s2 storage of carrots
  • Disk1s2 of switching for the storage of carrots
  • Waiting for logical volume group appear
  • Discovered the new group of logical volumes 'DBFEB690-107B-4EA6-905B-2971D10F5B53 '.
  • Store LVG UUID: DBFEB690-107B-4EA6-905B-2971D10F5B53
  • Finished CoreStorage operation
  • 9 copy to the bottom of the string after "Discovering new Volume Logic Group" using the command + C
  • 10. next, create the partition of the merger (alias logical volume) drive named "Macintosh HD".
  • In the Terminal, type: diskutil createVolume groupString jhfs cs + size volumeName
  • For example:
  • Diskutil createVolume DBFEB690-107B-4EA6-905B-2971D10F5B53 jhfs cs + 'Macintosh HD' 100%
  • diskutil - once again, this is the version of disk utility command line.
  • cs - called the basic storage functions, which are necessary for this arrangement.
  • createVolume - this is the command to create the storage area real for the reader who is represented by an icon on your desktop.
  • groupstring - this is the long alphanumeric string you copied in the previous step. It identifies the table you created such as getting a volume placed on it.
  • jhfs + -the format of the disc. It is Apple (journaled) extended Format, which is recommended for drives with an operating system installed on it.
  • VolumeName - the actual name of the volume, how it should appear under the icon. If there is a space in the name, you must put the full name in quotes ("name") or put a slash before the (name Drive\) space. In our example, we made these, naming our volume "Macintosh HD".
  • size : this is the size of the volume. In our example, we had a 1.1 TB drive. We used '1100g' to describe what 1100 GB (1.1 TB to base 10). Otherwise, we could have also used 1.1 T or even 100% as a size.
  • 11. go to diskutil to verify that you can see this new partition on the list.
  • 12. test by erasing all the data from it.
  • 13. then you can go ahead to start on the USB drive to install OSX and install a new copy of Mac OS x on it.
  • 14. This will allow you to keep the recovery disk feature.
  • X. how Prime to recover partition

  • Fusion drive: restore from Time Machine - "the disc cannot be erased."

    Hello

    On a new iMac (end of 2015), I need to wipe my drive of Fusion of 3 TB (El Capitan, unencrypted, just 1 partition, no Boot Camp partition) and then restore a backup Time Machine (made on a previous iMac, also with disc Fusion of 3 TB (El Capitan, unencrypted, just 1 partition, no Boot Camp partition).

    According to the document from Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904 'restore from a Time Machine backup' I...

    1. restart with cmd + R (later also tried cmd + alt + R and also a USB bootable of course El flash drive)

    2 selected "backup restore Time Machine"

    3 selected my external backup disk, Time Machine

    4 choose the most recent backup

    5 selected "Macintosh HD" as a destination and click "continue".

    ... but then the following message appeared "disc cannot be erased.

    Then I tried to erase 'Macintosh HD' via disk utility:

    1. restart with cmd + R (later also tried cmd + alt + R and also a USB bootable of course El flash drive)

    2 choose disk utility

    3 choose "Macintosh HD"

    4. click on tab "delete".

    5. click on the button 'clear '.

    ... then I got the error message:

    "Clear process failed..." Details: Dismantling DIS3 - deletion of logical volumes of the logical volume group - cannot remove the basic storage logical volume. Operation failed... »

    I was in the 'loop', the only way out was to "Reinstall Mac OS X", and then after many hours, he had once again my old installation flubbed with everything I wanted to get rid of!

    How to restore my backup Time Machine - nothing more or less - to my new iMac?

    I lost 3 days now with this problem. I really hope someone has a solution.

    Thank you very much!

    Apple did not provide an easy way to recover from this condition. If you are not able to carry out these instructions, please someone more experienced to help you get. One option is to take an appointment 'Genius' on an Apple Store.

    Starts the Internet recovery mode by pressing the key combination command-option-R to start ringing. Release the keys when you see a spinning globe.

    Note: You need an Ethernet or Wi - Fi connection permanent Internet to use recovery. It will not work with modems USB or PPPoE, proxy servers or networks that require a certificate for authentication.

    In the OS X Utilities screen, select

    Utilities ▹ Terminal

    in the menu bar at the top of the screen, not one of the items in the OS X Utilities window.

    Follow the steps in this thread to ASC to split the fuser unit. The long string of letters, numbers and dashes you will need to enter will be different in your case. Copy and paste into the command in the Terminal window.

    This will remove all data from the fuser unit, then you had better be sure of your backups.

    Quit the Terminal, and then repair the Fusion drive (see "Troubleshooting" on the linked page.)

    Quit disk utility. Then you should be able to install OS X and restore your data from a backup in the main screen.

  • Help please from Fusion 3-6 Fusion - cannot afford to waste it!

    Hi all

    Please could I ask help of you guys?

    I have three macs 10.6.8 all current enforcement, which all have a partition boot camp with XP pro 32 bit and Fusion 3. It works perfectly, allowing us to spend our CC applications directly in our software XP based workflows on the fly without having to start. Magic! The XP partitions are absolutely critical to our daily functioning and contain software that I wouldn't be able to re - install a fortiori reconfigure!

    Now comes along to Adobe, and all the latest CC applications require 10.7 or higher. The swell. So I get the Mavericks and install it on one of the three Macs, and I can no longer use the Fusion 3. OK, so I download the trial version of 6 and install to make sure everything works before doing anything on the three. Unfortunately, it removed my Fusion 3 software so I can't go back... gulp!

    Fusion 6 refuses to work now and it happens with a bsod error with incompatible boot - omg, no volume!

    So after a coffee and calm, I tried another and fired. I made a copy of one of the other Mac VM, then placed on an external and tried to use the file, open it to see if it would read my existing VM. Nope! He did acknowledge, as he askedbthat query about did move or copy, but trying to start the virtual machine, it errored immediately. Help!

    I thought it was if I need to go to a version between 3 and 6 maybe? I have 4 Fusion but never installed (no need to). Should I install 4? Who better for 6 people to import?

    I really need some experienced help here guys, I can't afford to mess up two other machines! I just need to work less than 6 years!

    Thanks a lot for any assistance.

    If the file is 280 GB so there is a reasonable risk it is fragmented and that could indeed cause slow downs.

    If you have enough free space on the disk (a little less than 300GB) then the steps to change a disc of split are:

    -Stop the virtual machine

    -go to 'settings '.

    -Select the virtual hard disk

    -Advanced options

    -put a check box next to "divide into several files.

    Which will make your drive based on size 2 GB files (Yes, it's 140 files for your current size, a bit, but it isn't the performance impact)

    There are a number of benefits, but the most important is that you have only a little more than 2 GB in size, if you are using snapshots or try lowering your drive. Shrinkage in this case is simply not written parts not used on your drive, not actually reducing the size of disc of comments. If your guest operating system can still use a full 280 GB if she needs it, but if it's only using 24GO only 24 GB is used alongside OS x.

    It is possible to reduce the size of the OS disk invited as well, but that is more advanced and need additional software for disk cloning.

    hope this helps,

    I can't tell you if it's possible at all to run PHEVS as a virtual machine. However, I am sure that you can do this with the current Core 2 CPU, because it is unfortunately not charge EPT (see, for example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extended_Page_Table)

  • Which method to use 4 Fusion

    I am a new macbook pro (13-inch i5) and a 4 vm fusion user. I replaced the hdd stock on macbook with a cruical 128 GB ssd. I bought 4 Fusion but has not yet set up, but my surfing online, I noticed that it seems to be 2 different ways to run Windows 7 on a mac.

    (1) directly to run Fusion installation with a cd Win7

    (2) firstly create a Win7 partition using bootcamp and then direct Fusion it

    My current understanding, both run Windows inside OS x fine, but it seems that the second option also allows you to run Windows 7 regardless when you need the power and features of it. So it's better to go with the 2nd method, well sure I'm wrong somewhere here.

    I understand how the 2nd option works, but the first, merge partitions the disk or how he manipulates divide between the 2 OS disk? or it doesn't?

    In addition, I am a software developer and am not sure how to partition my 128 GB between OSX and Win7. I want to only install XCode on OS X, I want to install Visual Studio, photoshop, and illustrator on Win7, and it's almost everything I'm going to install. I think maybe give 85 GB Win7 and OSX the rest (about 40 GB). This seems like a good split?

    Thank you

    Hello

    If you run with the only Fusion, the virtual Windows machine is a set of files from your Mac OS X partition and you don't need to partition your hard drive. This is, in my opinion, a huge advantage over using Bootcamp.

    I suggest the #1 option, create a virtual machine with an installation of Windows DVD.  If you don't like, you can then try the #2 option.

  • To a new Mac in VMWare Fusion

    I'm runinng Fusion 2 on a Macbook (Snow Leopard) with XP running inside the merger.  Everything works, no complaints.  I need to uninstall XP/merge and install on a new iMac.  I just do the installation?  I have to disable my current copy of merger?

    Yes, once you start merging, select file-> new... and it will guide you through the steps of building a new virtual machine.  Obviously, you'll need a disk to install Windows with a license key valid.

    I recommend that your virtual disk be divided into 2 Gig of files and not be previously affected.  I feel just these settings give you a little more flexibility (as if you need to copy the machine a FAT32 drive at some point) and only to take the place that you really need.  I have always used the 2 Gig split and experimenting previously assigned once, but didn't notice a significant difference in performance.

    Good luck

    The called function can only be performed on partial strings. Please open the virtual disk parent.

    Once this message, the drive no longer appears in the settings of the virtual machine; If I try to re add the vmdk file, VMWare simply hangs after selecting it in the open file dialog box.

    I tried to check the disk with the following command:

    /Library/Application\ Support/VMware\ Fusion/vmware-vdiskmanager -R seven.vmdk
    No errors were found on the virtual disk, 'seven.vmdk'.

    If I try to clone the drive, I get this error:

    $ /Library/Application\ Support/VMware\ Fusion/vmware-vdiskmanager -r seven.vmdk -t 0 seven2.vmdk
    Creating disk '/Volumes/ScratchMyBak/Users/fabiocorneti/seven2.vmdk'
    Failed to convert disk: The called function cannot be performed on partial chains. Please open the parent virtual disk (0x500003e83).

    Is it possible to fix the vmdk?

    Sorry I had not had my coffee yet and missed the following...

    The next section in the original seven.vmdk file looked like at...

    # Disk DescriptorFile
    version=1
    encoding="UTF-8"
    CID=00000000
    parentCID=00000000
    isNativeSnapshot="no"
    createType="twoGbMaxExtentSparse"

    It should have looked like...

    # Disk DescriptorFile
    version=1
    encoding="UTF-8"
    CID=fffffffe
    parentCID=ffffffff
    isNativeSnapshot="no"
    createType="twoGbMaxExtentFlat"

    Try the new version of the attached file seven.vmdk.

  • Resize the vdisk without going crazy?

    I used the VM Fusion for a few years and there are only a few apps that I can't get on my Mac, so I did very well for a long time with a 20G vdisk.

    I'm under VM Ware Fusion 3.02 on a MacBook Pro, OX 10.6.3 2.66 ghz and 8G of Ram.

    The files have swelled gradually over time, that I now need to increase the size of the vdisk.

    I have read and tried everything that I find in the forums and have not had a lot of success. Granted most of the threads come back two or three years and at least a version.

    When I open 'My computer' and then click on the disc 'C' it tells me that I have a free 19.9 G with 809M drive.

    When I select the Virtual Machine > hard drive > hard drive put on display a drive of 25G.

    My Mac finder shows the size of the file to 22.21 Go.

    Why is there such a wide range of sizes shown in the same file?

    How can I get the 'C' drive to think there 25G?

    They really do something like this such a hard pain in the neck to do?

    I tried vdiskmanager GUI without success, vdiskmanager (command line) without success and its expansion with the parameters of the hard disk does not work either.

    Any suggestions on how to expand the file and to keep at least a part of my sanity?

    Thank you

  • How to split a long file into multiple tracks?

    I have a recording of single file of a vinyl record (containing several sequential tracks) that I want to export to several distinct tracks. Is it possible to take thisfile audio, to add markers and export this multitrack view file into separate tracks? I know its possible to do using markers and export a list of CD and a burn on CD, but can export you multiple WAV gapless files instead, with the markers as points of track/split?

    I'm not burning to CD, just wanting to keep the traces in the form of files.

    Once you have added your markers and merged as to make a CD, then you can use parts of marker of Batch process (icon following along the fusion icon in the list of markers) to save the regions marked in individual files.

  • Splitting PDFs

    I'm writing a cold fusion program that splits a PDF with multiple pages in a separate files for each page. In other words, let's say I have a PDF (0.pdf) file that contains 100 pages, I want the program to break upwards so I find myself with 100 files, one for each page (document0001.pdf, document0002.pdf, document0003.pdf, document0004.pdf, document0005.pdf, etc.). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Here's a rough example. I have only skimmed the API so no guarantees. You can change the numbering of the names of files on your own.

  • Impossible to install 10 Windows via BootCamp on iMac 5K with Fusion Drive

    Hello

    I tried to install Windows 10 Professional via Boot Camp on my iMac 5K end of 2015 (version OS X 10.11) with a disc of the Fusion 2 to for about a week now. Right now I'm on my 4th or 5th try on Windows 10 installation on the iMac because each installation fails gives me an error that the drive is not formatted correctly or he couldn't find the score even though I have the selected in the list of available drives. I even went up to both to run the commands of the PART of the DISK from the command prompt in the area of troubleshooting Installer Windows 10 to format drive to NTFS instead of FAT32.

    Here are some of the mistakes that I received:

    1 Windows cannot be installed to this hard disk space. This space of hard disk is formatted with a version not support the NTFS file system.

    2. we could not create a new partition or locate an existing one. For more information, see the Setup logs files.

    I used the Boot Camp configuration application (version 6.0.1) to create a USB key after you download the image ISO from Microsoft. The USB flash drive that creates the installer will start the iMac, but I can't get past the screen "where do you want to install Windows? I tried the merge disk partitioning ways without success, beforehand, because I thought that it could cause a problem. He was left as a full drive 2 TB, or divide the flash part away and seen the almost 2 to rotation and the merger of 128 GB (flash) portion and lucky either.

    I'm full of ideas on what to try... I have loaded Windows 7 Professional via Boot Camp several times and have never encountered a problem with Boot Camp with 10 Windows so far.

    Workaround I found that worked for me was to install

    Win7 Pro 64 bit.  Then created just the Bootcamp driver USB key

    (no operating system installer).  Next I went to do the upgrade of Win10 of

    in the environment of Win7.  FWIW, I also chose to not save

    anything (new installation).

    You will need to keep the installation to make sure that you press the Option

    key with multiple reboots (why Windows still insists on this)

    and select the Windows volume to boot from.  Once all the nonsense restarts

    were carried out and finally Windows was running, I plugged it in training camp

    driver USB key, install hardware drivers and everything was good to go.

    Now, it was on an old MacBook Pro, which does not officially have the Bootcamp

    support for WIn10 if the material is quite capable.

  • a fusion drive is good for audio recording?

    I think buy a 27-inch iMac for audio recording on Logic Pro X, but is not sure a merger player performance, because some say that the part of the HARD of it on only 5400 RPM drive, if I hold with an iMac HARD 7200 RPM drive?

    You will likely get different opinions, but personally I would not use the fusion drive and recommend an SSD.

    Quite significant speed difference.

  • App for Apple Watch series 2 allow the use of heart rate, gps, and manual splits?

    I run about 60 miles per week and I plan to change my Garmin Forerunner 620 for a series 2. However, it would be totally useless to me if the watch does not intermediaries, as many of my workouts are pretty accurate. So, is it possible for me to intermediaries on the watch, and when looking at the splits also see the GPS info and heart rate for the said stock split?

    Hello

    To mark a segment (for example one lap) during running exercise using integrated workout app, you can double-click the screen. The display briefly shows the stats for this segment. Segments can be examined after training through the activity on the matched iPhone application:
