Vostro 200 and Installation of XP problem

Hi, I bought a Vostro 200 with Vista mini recently.  After I got it, I tried to install some software I have and faced many problems.  So now I'm trying to reformat the hard drive and install XP on it.  I have an old XP SP2 CD of previous computer purchase.  I booted from the CD and it looks like it to load things, and then the blue screen of death that presented themselves.  The stop error is 0x0000007B.

My question is how to install XP on Vostro 200?  I have XP SP2, XP SP3 do I need? or a few other drivers?  I have no disk on this machine so if other drivers are required for installation, how to do? F6/floppy would not be an option for me.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Jason

Sounds like the SATA driver.

Check in your BIOS for the SATA operation mode.   If it is in AHCI mode, change the ATA, then XP should be able to recognize the drive.

However, I must warn you: If you are using XP CD was originally an OEM version that is installed on another computer, it is a violation of the license agreement to install it on another system.   An OEM license is valid only for the computer, it has been installed on and cannot be transferred. only one copy retail can do.  The only exception is if you have purchased the Vostro with Vista Business or Ultimate, in which case you have right to demotion to use your license Vista with XP.

  • Satellite P300D-13N and Installation of XP problems (Sata driver)

    Hello

I have some problems with my XP Downgrade.
I tried to integrate the Intel Storage Manager driver in my XP CD, but unfortunately it did not work.
Probably because I've been incorporating all THE drivers, who were available, not only who should work for my chipset.
Anyway, in one of the threads of this forum, there is a link to [THIS how-to | http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB85017Z0000R01.htm] and I think I found my problem...

[Here: http://s5.directupload.net/images/080904/2eptrpzs.jpg] is a screenshot of my (sorry to make it in German) Device Manager preinstalled Vista.
As you can see, there is no information about the Version of controller.

So my question is, WHAT chipset is built into my laptop, because it is due to the fact that Intel drivers do not work AND there is no information on any Intel-inverter speed, I have no idea, I have to integrate into the XP CD to get my XP Installation working drivers. :(

    Help :(

    Thank you

  • Problem PCI-e Vostro 200

Hi, as stated I have a Vostro 200 Slim I bought an Asus EAH3450 PCI - e low profile card works fine on another computer, the Vostro I don't get any video, if I change the VGA conector for the video shipped with the computer on a screen saying I need to unplug this cable and connect it to the new card, which is what I've done , its like onboard video can detect the monitor, even if it is not plugged in, any ideas? TIA

I found a solution. Well well, for the Vostro 220, but I think this would work for your question. Access to my computer and right click - Select Manager. Expand graphics cards and click right then on the first, and then select Disable. Mine is an Intel (not sure of the model specofoc). Then restart the PC with the VGA or DVI cable connected to the Nvidia card. You can check the BIOS to see if you have PCI-express card enabled at startup. It was under my chipset in advance options. Then install the Nvidia drivers if they have not been installed. I have a Nvidia Quad PCI-e 290 and did it with a 280 PCI. I don't have this problem with Vostro that I did this with HP and was easy plug-and-play, the driver installation. After the reboot, change your graphics options through Nvidia Control Panel. I hope this helps.

  • Problem with SG-200 and access point on VLAN

I'm having some problems with the configuration of VLANS on the SG-200 and the WiFi access point. The access point (a TP-Link WA801N) is able to access the internet when it is plugged into a port that is on the default VLAN (1 PVID). If I plug it into one of the other VLAN then all clients connected to WiFi to lose access to the internet and can not access on the local VIRTUAL network devices. I've used this configuration with a Cisco WAP4410N of first generation.

I'm not sure if it's something wrong with the way I configured the switch or a problem with the access point.

    Iain,

You have virtual local networks put in place on your router? The subnets that you use on each vlan? The router will give DHCP for each vlan?

The SG200 isn't a fully managed layer 3 switch, it's just a "smart switch" so you can not actually be able to do simply only switch. A sg300 mode layer 3 would be able to do this because it is a fully managed switch.

If the router is configured with the VLAN, vlan 1 unidentified, the rest the tag, the router-> SG200 port is trunking and the others as access ports on their vlan respective. Once the router is configured, this video contributor forum albums and Cisco employee David Hornstein is very useful to correctly configure the switch.

    Best,

    David

In addition, this drive would work?

The WDC 1 TB SATA2 hard drive shown in your link will be fine.

You'll need four Dell Hard Drive mounting screw [p/n WN322], they can be purchased from spare parts, Dell, HERE the ADMIN NOTE: broken link has been removed from this post by Dell >

SATA data cable is necessary, but it should already be a spare power connector inside the case to a second hard drive.

  • IDE hard drive not recognized in bios Vostro 200

My friend gave me his Vostro 200 when she bought a new computer. I took the 130 GB drive HARD from my old computer and installed with a mini vertical bridge Sabrent SBT-SCIDE and a Molex to SATA power adapter. When I booted the computer and check the Bios, it does not appear. I checked the connections, and they agree, then I hung up in the old computer to ensure that it still worked. No problems in the old computer and no errors when I ran the disk check. Re-installed in the Vostro, but still not recognized.

Did I miss something as controllers or orders at the entrance?

For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated... ed

Most of the time these IDE SATA bridges do not work - you may need to try several of them until you find one that does - assuming one will indeed work.  The only reliable method to fix an old IDE drive to a new SATA system is to mount the drive in an external USB box.

  • Vostro 200 ram upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade the ram on the system of my son. It is a vostro 200 slim. The vehicle is currently only stock factory, but looking at a maximum of max.

My question is, can I run ram 800 mhz, or should it be the 667 mhz.

Reached an agreement on DDR2 2 GB (2 x 1 GB) PC2-6400 / 800 MHz.  You want to ensure no problems before buy you. Seeking 2 sets. Have tried the optimizers on newegg, etc.

They say nothing about 800, only 667. If can't use 800, can anyone recommend a good site/deal.

  • VOSTRO 200 Windows 10 drivers

I'm a previewer for Windows 10.  I have Windows 7 running on my VOSTRO 200 in 32-bit mode.  I could not load the preview builds or the final version of Windows 10.  Microsoft says that I need Windows 10 drivers but I have to get it from Dell.  Anyone know if there are special drivers for VOSTRO 200 / 10 Windows?

Note that I use 10 Windows on a laptop with a very similar setup successfully... 4 GB memory, processor Core 2 Duo Intel, Genuine Intel® CPU 2140 @ 1.60 GHz × 2, 1 TB drive, Intel G33 graphics card, etc...

    George

    Bev,

I can never find the 'yes', but YES, it was useful.  I'm in dual boot Ubuntu 15.04 64-bit with Windows 7 32 bit on the (otherwise unmodified) VOSTRO 200 with two hard drives.  The start is on disk 1 with Ubuntu and Windows on drive 2.  This could be a problem because the error is 800703ED (undocumented by SM, but it is everywhere on the web as a problem), but I do not.  I disconnected drive 1 and worked with the system as Windows only and a single.  Same song, second verse... No joy!  Windows 7 works well but Windows 10 won't charge or upgrade.

I love playing with older devices and software.  The laptop that I am trying is same vintage as the VOSTRO but will not run 64-bit, Linux (Ubuntu or something else).

If in your home and you find something useful, please send me a note.

I played with Windows 7 a reconstruction the VOSTRO or the computer laptop but MS wrote that they "don't will authenticate not' it if I do: catch-22!

  • Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower - for SSD Samsung 850 Evo BIOS settings

Hi - I am looking to replace the HARD drive in my Dell Vostro 200 Slim Tower with a Samsung SSD of 850 EVO.  I am running the BIOS 1.0.16 and do not see the option AHCI, RAID or IDE only.  Should what BIOS settings I use to optimize the performance of an SSD benefits?

Thanks in advance for the help!

I could get my SSD working under RAID (10 Windows) with the following steps (which some may not be necessary).

    1. MiniTool Partition Wizard Bootable 9 CD to clone a copy of the existing for the Samsung SSD HDD (Samsung data migration tool did not acknowledge the Samsung SSD on Windows 10, even though Device Manager it identified as such).  It took nearly 36 hours to clone froma 160 GB 250 GB HDD to the SSD.
    2. Replace HDD with SSD and it started / worked as an IDE drive.  TRIM has been activated and works.
    3. Apply the hotfix to the register noted in the first post of this thread (it may or may not be necessary):
      1. http://forums.HEXUS.NET/motherboards/112584-how-enable-AHCI-RAID-mode-without-reinstalling-Windows-P35-ICH9-ICH9R.html
    4. Downloaded the Intel Matrix Storage Manager 7.5.0.1017 A00 (which is appropriate for the Vostro 200 Slim Tower) from the Dell Web site and run the extracted exe file on the disk.
    5. Opens the folder where the drivers have been extracted and made a right click > install iaahci.inf and iastor.inf files.
    6. Restarted the PC, went into the BIOS and changed the IDE in RAID mode.
    7. When the system is booted, I received the message "Inaccessible Boot Device", so I let the system automatically restarts, go through the automatic recovery/repair options, then follow the guests to launch the advanced Windows options recovery to start in safe mode.
    8. Once in safe mode, I opened the Device Manager, which now showed the following new features:
      1. Disc players

        1. SAMSUNG SSD 850 EVO 500G
      2. Storage controllers
        1. Intel(r) ICH8R/ICH9R SATA RAID Controller
        2. Microsoft storage controller
    9. The system is then able to start and be used normally.
    10. There are still problems with the Samsung Wizard software, but it seems that it is a matter of Samsung.

Hope this is useful to someone.

  • Dell Vostro 200 won't turn on

I have a Vostro 200, works pretty well, however I had to unplug it to move furniture, and when I plugged it to the switch does nothing. There is the device that the green light on the power supply unit lights up green, I tried unplugging for awhile again and plugging, but although the green light appears, the power button does nothing, I opened and checked connectors, nothing is loose and the motherboard indicates a light orange so it becomes current. I am at a loss. Help, please

Note: I had this problem once before, but when I came back the next day and pressed the power button it turned to the right with no recurrence of the problem that now 5 months later

Two * beeps * indicate a problem of memory, first try to open the case and remove and reinstall all memory modules and see if that makes a difference, troubleshooting procedures more can be found in the Vostro 200 Mini Tower Troubleshooter HERE. • WinXP on Satellite A210-131 - modem and installation of SM bus controller

Hi, I have a Toshiba Satellite A210 adapter - 131, which came with Windows Vista. I uninstalled and installed Win XP and SP2 and I have several problems in my device manager:

I've got "Modem device on high definition audio bus" and "sm bus controller" with an exclamation mark. I have respected the order of installation instructions, I tried the modem drivers, even for different countries (the laptop was purchased in Germany, now I am in Romania). I started to install the modem driver, I have a progress bar that ends after a certain time, but after that nothing happens. I restarted and I get the same message! I've looked everywhere, I don't know what to do, please give some advice! And what of the sm bus controller? I also tried to uninstall some devices that appear after the modem in the list of instructions, and then try again with the modem but no result.
    Help, please!
    Thanks ;)

    Hi Paul

Sorry, but it is not easy to give advice when the drivers of Windows XP Home for Satellite A210 aren't available yet.

If the modem is not that important to leave you it until the drivers will be available. Who cares about modem? Can you live without it?
