vRO vRA 7 integrated or external?

Deploying a vRA HA distributed glancing 7 environment and I have not been able to determine if vRO devices shipped are HA and/or if they are recommended over devices external vRO.

Anyone know?

External can be active/active or active liabilities. It's all in how you choose to configure the deployment.

vRO can handle 100 concurrent streams, so I would look at how many simultaneous tasks can be triggered as part of decommissioning provisoning and use it as a base. Don't forget that nothing justifies not internal first and then change it later if you find that there are performance problems.

    Hey guys,.

I'm having a weird phenomenon when you try to deploy a plan of action with network NAT-On-Demand of vRA.

    vRA version: 7.01

I use the vRO that comes with the device of vRA.

I visited the following links (and more) to add integration NSX:

Whenever I have deploy a BP with NAT-On-Demand network.

    I get the following error:

[Error code: 44014]-[Error Msg: vRealize Orchestrator workflow [endpoint NSX create] not found.]

Endpoint NSX works correctly from the point of view of vRO and the "Create NSX endpoint" workflow is in place.

    Any ideas?

    OK, problem solved.

firestartah, NSX successfully completed data collection, but I'm not sure that the NSX collection collects information vRO regarding NSX workflows.

Anyway, I tried to reinstall the plugin NSX in vRO and it did not help. I also tried to remove the vRO EP and create a new one and still no change.

Finally - I removed the NSX plugin, but this time I deleted the NSX package with its work sequences and reinstalled the plugin once again.
Now the process is going behind the scenes of the addition of endpoint NSX (completed successfully today) and fails for an entirely different reason

Thank you very much for your help!

  • vRO vRA 6.2 plugin compatibility with vRO 5.5.1

Has anyone tested vRA 6.2 plugin on vCO (vRO) 5.5.1?

When I install the plugin plugin said vCACCAFE will carry out the installation at the next startup of the server. but never install after several reboot.

The interoperability matrix says they are interoperable.

Also, what would be the trade off with vCO that comes with vRA 6.2

I will not be able to ask them

  • vRA 7 load balancing with embedded active / standby vRO

I have a vRA environment 7 with vRA HA devices that have integrated the vRO. I want vRO to an Active/Passive configuration, but when I do the load balancer declares the node with the vRO vRA Eve out of service.

It seems that between 6.2 and 7 that VMware has changed the vRA health check to watch/vcac/service/api/health instead of/vcac/services/api/status. This new target now fail because it shows a service as in offline mode. While it is fairly clean and is probably better than the old health check, it kills the idea of an active configuration / standby vRO.

Any ideas on how I can get around this? Thank you!!

The problem that you are facing is that devices of internal load balancing is managed by HAProxy. I don't have * think * that it promotes health checks, this is why active/active approach for vRO. I suspect that if you want to use Active/passive, you will need to switch to external devices.

  • Satellite P500 & UBUNTU - extern VGA do not work

    Hello

I'm running ubuntu for 2011 with my Toshiba Satellite P500 (PSPGSE), it was working fine until a few weeks ago (I think that updated NVidia)

Right now, I'm not able to connect an external video source. I am a math teacher and this is very annoying for my work, because I connect my laptop to a projector. I tested with other VGA cables and other monitors, nothing...

I don't know what is happening now, nvidia control center does not detect an external video source to my P500 and sends no signal.

Anyone has the same problem and solve it?

Is there a tool to verify the integrity of external output?

    Could someone help me?
    I'm running UBUNTU 12.04.

    Kind regards.

    Hi Rudolf

It can be tricky and requires manual work in order to find the cause of your problem.

    It can be:

    (1) related material. If so, you must repair your device. But don't take that as a first choice!

    2) caused by an update of the advantageous driver (driver from nVidia and not handled by the community)
In the event that the problem is caused by the pilot-owner, you may be able to restore the previous version to recover your functions required and cross your fingers that nvidia released a new driver that solves your problem.

    3) caused by a change again, which is the implementation of free software of the driver for the nVidia chips.
Problems with the kernel / new are more likely to be managed by the community.

As the drivers again as far as I understand, are released with updates to the kernel, you may have luck trying this:

When you start your PC, you can briefly see a sort of start with some choice menu.
Can be a list of kernels to boot from.

    Example:

    Ubuntu 12.04 - Kernel 3.2.0 - 122
    Ubuntu 12.04 - Kernel 3.2.0 - 104
    Ubuntu 12.04 - safe mode

and so on. Above are examples only because I don't know exactly how it may look in Ubuntu.

Please stop start pressing f.ex. upwards or downwards and select a core that is the precedent at latest.
In my example, it would be:

    Ubuntu 12.04 - Kernel 3.2.0 - 104

Press ENTER and watch the startup of the unit.
What place in the office, attach an external display device to the port you need and see if things work as expected.

If so, you probably need to file a bug on the Ubuntu bugzilla report.

    Let us know the result!

  • Use vCenter custom during the VRO flow specification

My group and I are currently working on a compute cloud workflow where customers request a VM and it gets automatically configured using vRO/vRA.  We already have a specification in vCenter for Windows create the local administrator password and join the guest to the area.  We currently built in flow "Clone, with several network adapters and the Windows credential" for most working with hard-coded credentials.  What we have is either find a way to take the custom specification and enter the data that we need to place, or somehow apply the spec together personalised to the VM during the clone process.  I know means 2nd option, we need to go far from the built circulation to create our own, but if it's the only way then so be it.

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Thank you

    Hello

It is possible to get a vCenter's existing customization specification and pass it to the customizeVM_Task() method, not sure if there is a workflow of library of ready-to-use for this.

Check out these links for examples (they are "well aged" :-) but should still work in current versions):

I found it generally easier to use an object existing specification, and replacing just the settings I want to change a programming than to create a new suit from scratch. You might get some that mistakes a specified parameter was"not correct" back from vCenter, missing a few pieces of the specification.

Make sure, for example, the number of network adapters configured for the virtual computer is the number of network adapter settings in the book loads.

  • External table Oracle via the Tables API

    Hello world

I did experiment with the Oracle NoSQL database recently and I became a bit stuck with the new API of Tables. I have so far successfully of the external tables on the data entered using storage techniques 'vanilla' KV and avro (using generic and specific links) scheme, but create API Tables seems to be another matter entirely.

My question arises in the trainer interface, which has a KeyValueVersion and a KVStore. I can't translate a KeyValueVersion created with the API of Tables in a primary key for recovery (since I don't know what the key generated by the API actually looks like to!) or map it on an avro scheme. The problem seems to be that the Tables API writes data in some format that can be easily translated into a string or an integer (releases from external table lines due to unknown characters if I am trying to retrieve all the values in the database to see what it looks like to), and try to map it to an AVRO map results in the error message 'the data are not as AVRO'.

    Scenario:

I created a very simple table in the administration tool KV, which consists of a column personId (integer) that is PK, firstName, lastName, emailAddr (all channels) and enter 5 rows with success. What I want to do is to create an external table called person that returns just those 5 values (and brand new I add to the table of course). This means that I have to first understand what the parentKey value must be defined in the .dat file and how to take this key and it becomes a primary key for the recovery of the line.

Faithful old Google could not find information on how to do this (he was only a thread similar to this with the answer "we'll add it soon"), so I hope that someone here managed to do!

    Thank you

    Richard

    Hi Richard

I understand the issue you are facing. In the current version (12.1.3.0.9) the external tables feature only works with records of K/V not with the Table model, however, in the next version (which us will very soon be GA) we will support integration of external tables with the data of Table model as well. Please make sure that you have signed up for the announcement of release so that we can inform you of the release. I apologize for the inconvenience, he did to you.

  • VRA closing

Now before you say "What a fool!" Let me say that I totally agree with you!

I've created a workflow of shutdown to stop my lab and I forgot to exclude the orchestrator engine I use (it is embedded inside a VRA Orchestrator). If the workflow got to the VRA device and makes the task to stop it. Of course, this prevented the workflow as turning off the device. Now when I start the unit it resumes the workflow and of course the first thing he does is turns the unit off. I told you that I know I'm a fool?

Is there a way to launch VRA but tell him to cancel all pending workflows?

An option not to resume workflows vRO server startup is to add the following line to the /etc/vco/app-server/vmo.properties file

    ch.dunes.safe-mode=true

So, you have to be fast and manage to do this change right after you turn on the device, but before vRO server starts and stops the unit.

Another option would be to remove the execution of workflow of the database directly. A third option would be to play with startup scripts (vRO/vRA/Linux) and disable the server vRO.

  • No luck with CRT/LCD button - external monitor does not display

    Hello

I have a Dell Inspiron 700 m laptop.  When I connect to the computer to my TV (a/k/a an external monitor), hold down the "Fn" key and press F8 (the "CRT/LCD" button), my laptop screen blinks and no picture on the external monitor.  One of my friends has a Dell XPS M1210 and - through the same steps - we were able to get the same establishment to work.  Maybe someone has any suggestions for what is the problem?  Would be - it simply a matter of obsolete or incorrect drivers?  Thanks in advance for the help and suggestions.

    Kind regards

    Aranas

P.S. to the difference of the XPS M1210, my Inspiron 700 m does not display again - when I press the key "CRT/LCD" - the box with three display options: integrated screen external monitor and both screens at the same time.  The screen just flashes to black.

  • vRealize 7 - NSX Automation deployments fail due to problems of certificate with vRealize Orchestrator

    Hello community,

After you have installed the latest version of vRA, vRO, and NSX I run questions when you apply components that use components of the NSX. First of all: details of the version:

    -vRA: 7.0.0 (build 3292778)

    -vRO: 7.0.0.16989 (build 331003)

    -NSX: 6.2.1 (build 3300239)

vRO plugin versions are delivered with the vRO version listed above with the exception of the plugin NSX, which has been updated to the latest version (1.0.3 published on 17.12.15).

In the configured tenant vRO is configured as endpoint. I can check the data collection is running and working. I can see the plugin NSX for vRO runs the workflow 'create endpoint NSX' from time to time using the configured user of vRA VRO.

In the configured tenant vRO is thus configured as server default for ASD vRO. Connection test is successful. When you save the config I'm prompted to approve the vRO certificate, which I confirm. Note that the thumbprint specified matches the footprint of the vRO certificate that I get during the visit of the vRO system on https://vro:8281. I am able to navigate the vRO vRA designer workflows, therefore: connection seems established.

Within vRO the vRA COFFEE and plug-ins IAAS have been saved successfully. I am able to browse the inventory of plugin for both plugins.

To solve the problem, I created a new unified plan within the design section of vRA with the following configuration:

-Transport box: my area of transport configured NSX (checked: manual creation on this area using NSX works very well)

-Routed res pol. Bridge: my reference for the dash cluster to use Pol

-The only component dragged to canvas is a 'network and safety'-> 'On-Demand NAT Network' that uses a profile preset 1-to-many network as is "Parent network profile" without manual modification.

-Note that, although there is a plan very simple example to illustrate the problem, it happens with any model that I have set up if any component is confgured requiring the NSX plugin for vRO.

"Whenever I ask this plan, the request fails with the error message:" ","application [fa1e0689-0d06-4308-a914-e498c0d1fd99]: 404 not found "

Looking in vCenter, NSX and vRO I can check that nothing is really trigged when you ask for the action plan.

Consider the vRA /storage/log/vmware/vcac/catalina.log becomes very visible:

    com.vmware.vcac.iaas.vco.network.helper.VcoEndpointSelector.isEndpointAlive:88 -
vRealize Orchestrator endpoint with url [https://s00-vro.my.domain:8281/vco] is not alive.
Exception message:> [Host name 's00-vro.my.domain' does not match the certificate subject provided by the peer (CN=s00-vro.my.domain, OU=VMware, O=My Company, C=DE)]

    com.vmware.vcac.iaas.vco.network.helper.VcoEndpointSelector.getFirstAliveEndpointByPriority:200
    - vRealize Orchestrator endpoint [https://s00-vro.my.domain:8281/vco] with priority 1 is not alive. Skipping.

    org.springframework.web.servlet.mvc.method.annotation.ExceptionHandlerExceptionResolv
er.logException:189 - Handler execution resulted in exception: Endpoint not found. There are no vRealize Orchestrator endpoints that are alive.

    com.vmware.vcac.platform.service.rest.resolver.ApplicationExceptionHandler.handleHttpStatusCodeException:673 - 404 Not Found
    org.springframework.web.client.HttpClientErrorException: 404 Not Found
    ...
    ...
    ...

Please note that I double checked the certificate. This is a self-signed certificate created using the 7.0 vRO new control panel, the one I get when you go to https://vro:8281. It is valid and the object (issed to CN) matches perfectly the hostname entered the ASD and endpoint configuration in the vRA. It is separable and time on all components of the server is in sync with the use NTP.

Now, I even re-generated certificate and re-registered and rebooted all the components, but while I can see that the certificate has been updated all components I always get the same question.

Never had this problem with the previous version of the NSX / vRA / vRO. I checked the documentation if nothing has changed here, but did not find what I'm doing wrong. Anythimg I'm missing here? Any bug?

OK, this seems to be the issue. So put atleast to previous day since version ofvRO (cannot check if it's true for charges vRO 7 installs as well but it is probably) vRO 'control center' will generate certificates based SHA1 vRA love not for actions that use the endpoint in the vRA vRO. ASD seems to work without these problems.

Sidenote: VRO upgraded installs will also come with SHA1 based CERT if they use a self-signed cert created by vRO. However: you would think that it is sufficient to recreate the cert using the control center. But it turns out it isn't, because it will generate a (new) based SHA1 cert.

What I did to solve the problem:

    1. create a vRO SSH2 based certificate without the cert extensions, similar to the one that ships with built-in vRA vRO. I tend to use xCA for these jobs, but openSSL will do as well. The exact format required for the certificate of vRO is not documented, but I can make sure you need it like this: PEM certificate in key private and public including format PKCS #1, formatted as follows:

    -----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
    (Your private Key: your_vro_server.key)
    -----END RSA PRIVATE KEY-----
    -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
    (Your primary certificate: your_vro_server.crt)
    -----END CERTIFICATE-----
    -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
    (Your intermediate certificate: intermed.crt)
    -----END CERTIFICATE-----
    -----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----
    (Your root certificate: root.crt)
    -----END CERTIFICATE-----

I had problems when I used the key extensions so I would say you don't use and don't create a very basic cert without extensions V3, as indicated on the right of the image to my last post (ideally, you want to have a cert with the same properties as the cert is used by the device of integrated vRO vRA unless of course different CN) etc.).

    2. use the vRO control center located at https://your-externa-vro:8283 / vco-controlcenter / #/ and move to--> Orchestrator Server SSL certificate certificates. Use the action to import to import your PEM cert. It should tell you that you need to restart your device vRO. Then RESTART the device (for not just restart the service, this seems not be sufficient).

3 al ' vRA remove the Endpoint vRO everywhere wherever it has been configured. Also, I removed the vRO to the ASD config just to make sure that nothings left.

4 reboot the vRA power (IAAS can be left as what). I needed to do this because I have seen that the keystore at some point would keep beeing crushed by CERT vRA (?), I deleted it (AND I checked that they are deleted) reappears in the keystore after a while. After a reboot, the problem was gone, the keystore was clean.

    5. Add the configuration of endpoint and ASD vRO. Accept the certificate.

    6. the works.

Therefore, while I have no more time to solve the problems more than I guess the problem is the SHA1 function certificate generated by the device of vRO. The internal unit is equipped with a SHA2 based cert that works and after that change the external device SHA1 cert in a basic cert SHA2 all works.

  • Up-to-date values of VM CPU/Memory in the GUI framework for ASD action

I have a worfklow vRO work custom as an action of ASD resource that allows the user to resize their VM provisioned based on a variety of preconfigured sizes, choice of the user as part of the DSA application form. It is to replace the built in option to reconfigure so that users cannot select the random sizes for their virtual machines, all the items in the catalogue are configured with thus predefined sizes.

The end result is that everything that the user selects meets a set of CPU and RAM for example values small = 2vCPU 2 GB RAM and these values are then used to change the vCPU and RAM on the underlying vCenter VM values, before the entity VM vCAC for CPU properties. County and Memory.Size are updated by using the line System.getModule ("com.vmware.library.vcac") .addUpdatePropertyFromVirtualMachineEntity (host, virtualMachineEntity, "VirtualMachine.CPU.Count", cpuCount, propertyIsHidden, propertyIsRuntime, propertyIsEncrypted, doNotUpdate); for example, the CPU.

It works very well, the virtual machine is reconfigured in vCenter and the CPU. County and Memory.Size values are updated on the virtual computer in the vRA, but when you look at the virtual machine in respect of points it's CPU and RAM boxes still display the old values. These are updated to reflect the new values when the inventory in vRA jobs then run but cela could be up to an hour later in my system.

I was wondering that if there is a way to update these GUI elements in my work, I see three possibilities:

    1. Add a collection workflow data force at the end (would be allowed, but I work in a small environment, but do not think that this would put across large environments)
    2. Rework my work flow so that it uses the option reconfigures integrated to resize the virtual machine based on the value of some users (this would probably work, but I would have to rewrite most of my workflow and test again)
    3. I missed a property or an attribute, a place that controls the values displayed in the user interface and these only need to be included in the workflow

Anyone who provides a custom action to do something that affects the values displayed in the GUI, if yes, how do you currently part update or someone at - he of the alternatives that might require less effort to implement?

It is on the vRA 6.2.1 with external device vRO 6.0.1 screenshots showing the situation running...

    vRA GUI.JPGvRA VM properties.JPG

    > Add a workflow of data force collection at the end (would be allowed, but I work in a small environment, but do not think that this would put across large environments)

Good or bad... That's what we do at the end of our CPU, Mem, and storage increase the flow of work.  We have yet to meet a problem.  It will be proportionally to the size of your environment in a way... but in reality, it would be more relative to the amount of change requests.  (less likely in the applications of appropriate sizes)

    > Rework my work flow so that it uses the option reconfigures integrated to resize the virtual machine based on the value of some users (this would probably work, but I would have to rewrite most of my workflow and test again)

I don't like this idea... even if it is the method that I use for a change in ownership.  (search for ID users, collect the request and bind values machine, run request a resource workflow Action) You can give the vRO/vRA plugin service account permission to reconfigure in your environment. (I don't remember our initial plan in particular configurations... but currently in our environment reconfigures I cannot change CPU/MEM/storage).

    > I missed a property or an attribute, a place that controls the values displayed in the user interface and these only need to be included in the workflow

Well, if find you... I really hope that you share.

  • Why Javascript?

I know there must be some rationale and reasoning behind the decision to choose the Javascript as the language underlying vRO. I don't know there are a few architectural tie-in that I'm sure that it allows all make sense. However, I'm fighting to see or find explanations for this choice, which makes them feel somewhat arbitrary. It is simply based on a matrix of popularity? Is it because the primary application 'partner' of vRO is vRA - a web application? Is the assumption that the primary automation of a virtualization environment are going to be web developers? What is some vestige of some acquired orchestration that VMware software there are a dozen years?

Of all languages that could be used for this, Javascript is one of the last, at the back of the bus with languages like ColdFusion and PHP, I would have taken. It's not because Javascript is not popular or frequently used, but because it's especially (I do not exclusively, but primarily) a front-end/display language (i.e. the MVC view) and even less back-end/automation language. I would understand Python or Perl-languages used by developers and sysadmins (usually for scripts and automation tasks) as well. Java also would have also made sense because 1) how Java applications (Tomcat, etc.) are used throughout the suite vR * and 2) the Orchestrator Client itself is written in Java. But coming from an administrator (which is non-A-Developer(tm)) who has learned enough bash, Python, Perl, Powershell, etc to be able to automate many aspects of our environment and must manage our vRO/vRA installation, Javascript seems to be such a weird choice.

Again, I am sure that there are some architectural element, I don't see that requires Javascript as the obvious choice. I can just see or find an explanation for it.

The first reason is as you said architectural as vRO is built using Java. The vRO plug-ins are Java plug-ins. These plug-ins expose a JavaScript API (objects and methods) script using the Rhino engine.

You can use the PowerShell plug-in, but then he will need to run scripts on a host of Powershell, leading to a solution less integrated, less reliable.

The second reason, that it was a good choice is the simplicity. I could teach Javascript system engineers who never scripted easily - Perl / Python / Powershell are much more enigmatic, hard to read / understand (I used to be a Perl script engine before and that it would take some effort for me to get abck to my old scripts). vRO need very little of the language (just knowing the basic if/else, of statements, lift object properties is already getting you much accomplished). Chances are likely a developer of workflow vRO will interact with a third-party web service REST / JSON (JavaScript Object Notation).

Also, it is not because Javascript is mainly used for the language of web front end that it is not popular for the development of the backbone. JavaScript is a popular scripting language, and its use for the development of the backbone is growing faster.

Many of these applications, that you can use on your phone will likely be a node.js backend.

I discovered that the people asking this question are the one who has already invested a lot in other languages you mentioned. But then if you are able to make one of the 3Ps scripting languages JavaScript is going to be very easy to learn if new for you and most of the time not relevant given that most of the workflow are about to / definition of the properties on the object since a lot of the logic is in the workflow itself.

  • Workflow to create the prefix of Group/business machine

I'm working with vRA 6.2.1 and vRO 6.0.1 (as external device) creating a unique workflow that I can use to replicate my test environment in which concerns the creation of tenant and configuration. So far, I have a global workflow consisting of several workflow of the vRA plugin that will create the tenant, adding banks of identities and administrators and then create the Group prefixes and fabric machine, this set works very well but I am stuck at the next step which is to create my group of companies. I want the workflow the prefix machine created in the previous step as an input in the phase of establishment of business groups, the idea is there is no administrator aside from entry to start the global workflow, but out of the box two workflows have different formats for the id attribute of machineprefix (vCACEntity and vCACCAFE (: MachinePrefix), and I can't find a way to convert that properly passes the value of the id for the Group of companies to create workflow.

The search of the web and this forum has provided two different threads around using a task scriptable between the prefix machine create and create workflows group, I have tried both and doesn't seem to work for me. The first I tried was a simple one line saying createdMachinePrefix (vCAC:Entity) = convertedmachinePrefix(vCACCAFE:MachinePrefix) and the other was a script based on the vCACCAFEEntitiesFinder (https://communities.vmware.com/message/2453675), but these two cause the error TypeError don't call method getId null (the dynamic Script Module name: createBusinessGroup #3).

The problem is obviously that the id of machineprefix is not correctly converted/passed to the workflow to create business group, because if I put that to use an entry for the prefix id and type manually in when I run the global workflow, it works very well, so the script task isn't generating errors, but is not giving me the result I need to be. Also when I look at the variables tab that runs the overall workflow, I can see the MachinePrefix variable in the format of vCAC:Entity as a guid, but shows vCACCAFE:MAchinePrefix that is not I think brings up that I found her correct the cause of the problem.

Can someone help me find the solution, I'm sure it's just me missing something obvious, but I am new to Orchestrator and learning as I go along.

What I do is after the element to create a MachinePrefix, add a script with the following task:

    IN:

machinePrefixName: string (you should be able to provide it since you'd need to create the MachinePrefix)

    DEPARTURES:

    If (machinePrefixName == vCACMachinePrefix.name) {}
