VSphere/ESXi can run on different processor architecture?

We want to implement VMware infrastructure and research in the vSphere purchase Ess. 'More'. We are not implement shared storage. We will have 3 ESXi host total.

I want to save money as much as possible. I have a HP Proliant DL380p Gen8 and a DL385 G7 servers. By HP, both are compatible with ESXi 6.0. I would use these two servers and have to buy a server.

The DL380p is the DL385 AMD and Intel. If this configuration can work or this server must be Intel?

Thank you

Alex

We absolutely want to use vMotion. Can be used without storage shared, correct?

Yes, it is possible since the 5.1, but there are a few things to keep in mind. It's basically a combination of storage vMotion, transferring the VM disks from one storage to another and a regular vMotion device, transfer a live VM running from the memory of one host to another.

As such it is nowhere as dynamic as a normal vMotion alone, since the copy of VM disk data can take some time. There is also no support DRS.

You can read about some more here: http://wahlnetwork.com/2012/11/21/leveraging-vmwares-enhanced-shared-nothing-vmotion/

Must the CPU be the same model? For example, should all have Intel Xeon E5 2609 v2 CPU?

No, the basic requirement for transfer a live OS running, it's that both source and destination host supports the same CPU instruction sets. Exact model, clock speed Mhz cache, dimensions, etc. are not relevant as long as the CPU instruction sets are identical. So no, they do not have to be the exact same model.

In addition, you can enable Enhanced vMotion compatibility (EVC) on a cluster of servers with the same CPU provider, which allows you to establish the lowest common denominator of a generation of CPU between different hosts. For example, the Xeon E5 2609 v2 you mentioned is a generation Ivy Bridge CPU. If you add a generation Sandy Bridge Xeon you define the EVC to Sandy Bridge mode, as it is the older generation in your cluster and containing all common instructions sets that are also found in the home of Ivy Bridge of latest generation. If you add a

host with Haswell generation CPU, you would set the EVC at Ivy Bridge mode respectively.

VCA will hide the new instructions to virtual machines to ensure that they can be migrated directly to all guests.

You have to keep AMD out of your cluster host, but that's not really make a difference in your case since vMotion work never between AMD and Intel, and that you can not use VMware HA because you are devoid of shared storage. Just be aware that VM on the host AMD will never be able to migrate to other hosts without interruption of service through enhanced vMotion.

Yes. You can mix and match hardware and operating systems, although only for the data grid (the cluster of base), most of the clients will run on a relatively homogeneous platform (i.e. they standardize on certain hardware and OS).

  • How Illustrator 32 and 64 bit can run in different languages twoo?

I have a subscription to creative cloud. My OS is a Danish version of W7. I want Adobe programs run in English. I put the handler appliczation language preferences to English and it works in some cases but not always. For example, 32-bit Illustrator works perfectly in English, whereas the version 64-bit show all menus and dialogs in Danish. Is it possible to fix this?

Go to/Applications/Utilities/Adobe install and uninstall Illustrator. Download/update Application Manager and install Illustrator by changing the preference of the Application Manager to English and it should appear in English.

Yes, all processors can run 32-bit clients.  64-bit clients require some hardware features of the processor and motherboard/BIOS card.

  • How can I know raid 0 SSD when I install Vsphere ESXi 6?

    Hello

I would say for me to understand in advance because I can't speak English well.

Today, I tried to install ESXi vsphere 6 on ssd drive that put in raid0. RAID0 consisted of two 500 GB drives.

When I install Windows Server R2 2012 to check the status of the raid 0, I can see good about 1 TB drive and when I try to install vsphere 6 ESXi, I see two 500 GB drives. It didn't consist of raid 0

Why can't vsphere ESXi 6 recognize raid 0 disk?

Frankly, defining VMware products is the first time today. Please explain and tell me to resolve method.

This questions is more likely caused by an unsupported software RAID controller. VMware supports only hardware RAID controllers that have the physical disks and logical volumes for operating systems. Some hardware manufacturers provide additional drivers for their own material as well.

I was wondering if you can run Citrix Xendesktop on VMWare Vsphere Hypervisor free version that does not VCenter.

I am a newbie for two worlds VSphere and Powershell.

My requirement is to call a script that uses the Vsphere using default windows powershell cmdlet.

What are the settings I must perform on Windows powershell so that I can run scripts that uses the VSphere cmdlet?

You can as LucD said or you can even add this line @ the beginning of your script to make sure that the plugin is added whenever the script runs.

Benefits of the approach of LucD profile, will it work on this one machine.  drawback is a little less portable.

Backwards add it to the script will load the plug-in each time regardless of the profile.  downside, repetitive.

  • Why Vista offers two different processors in my A200 SP?

    Hello world.

I m new here but have a very important question for my new laptop that I just bought. OK here goes if someone can help?

Just bought my new Satellite Pro A200GE - 26 Q Intel centrino computer core 2 duo t7500 2.2 ghz, which came with 2 GB of RAM that I ve already upgraded to 4 GB of RAM, immediately and wow it's such a beautiful machine tosh laptop computers great build!

The problem I have is that when I go into Device Manager and processor link, it shows the two processors, one a T7300 @2. 0 ghz and a @2 T7500. 2 GHz... now I know the speed may be slowed down due to the power save etc, but surely, it should show BOTH seek the SAME IE [email protected] and [email protected] instead of the T7300 above @2. 0 ghz.

Have I sold a laptop with wrong / different processors in? Maybe by mistake and one another thing is RAM shows 3070MB (3 GB) and I know that some systems use the rest but I thought that vista home premium was supposed to show this... I am not upgrading to vista x 64 will make the best use of it, but as I read on many forums when you run on x 64, you have a lot of driver problems and the hassle is not worth. So please help me with this problem of processor.

Can I get a pair? Thanks again.

  • 23 - g011 HP Pavilion all-in-One: can I upgrade the processor?

    Hello world!

I'm at an impasse earlier and had to get a fast PC. What I ended up getting was 23-g011 HP Pavilion all-in-One. When I got it, I thought it was OK, but as I started working I realized its limitations. I guess that there's a 1.3 ghz processor, which seems to be the only real issue with it, I would say.

My question is, can I upgrade the processor?

I heard different things. Some say yes, others say no.

I really don't know much about this stuff, but I hope someone can help me here.

    Thank you!

I'm sorry, but apparently the proccessor is soldered to the motherboard of the computer, so you cannot update. All-in-one computers are not designed to be upgraded (I have a Pavilion b010 20 with a proccessor 1.48 GHz) and I would really have a problem with the "no upgrade" thing if the proccessors was not so terrible! I feel you, I do a lot of game and I have for them to run as 5 fps. So to sum it all, you can't update.

  • I need to know how to determine my processor architecture or know what it is

I looked around the site for the answer to my question 'how do I determine processor architecture?', but all I got is how to determine the weather its 64-bit or 32-bit. I need to know if my processor is AMD or i386

I have an Intel Celeron proccessor under Windows 7 Home Premium... Can you tell me, on this basis, weather or not im AMD or i386 or tell me how to determine

How will I know if my computer is running 32-bit or a 64-bit version of Windows?

To find out if your computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit Windows Windows 7 or Windows Vista, follow these steps:

    1. System opened by clicking on the button start , right click on computer and then click Properties.

    2. Under system, you can view the system type.

How do I know if my computer can run a 64-bit version of Windows?

To run a 64-bit version of Windows, your computer must have a processor 64-bit capable. To see if your processor is 64-bit capable windows 7 or Windows Vista, follow these steps:

    1. Open data on the performance and tools by clicking on the button start , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type data and performance tools, and then, in the list of results, clickPerformance information and tools.

    2. Do one of the following:

      • In Windows 7, click view and print detailed performance and system information.

      • In Windows Vista, click view and print details.

    3. In the section system, you can see what type of operating system you are currently running underSystem type, and whether or not you can run a 64-bit of Windows 64-bit version. (If your computer is already running a 64 - bit windows version, you won't see 64 - bit capable list).

You can also run CPU - Z [1] to determine if your processor is 64-bit capable.

  • ESXi host running 6 VCSA disconnected from the vCenter

    Hi guys,.

I have a weird problem with my vCenter build 6. Single cluster of ESXi hosts. Running VCSA 6.0 and 6.0 ESXI. Making a storage of the vCenter vMotion initially got stuck at 77% and the ESXi host running the disconnected from vCenter vCenter. But I can connect directly to the ESXi host with vsphere client and see the vCenter VM works perfectly well. If I try to manually connect host ESXi and vCenter, I get the error "Failed to contact the host specified") both are in the same subnet and VLAN. I can migrate to other virtual machines without problem. I even restarted the host and yet I am not able to connect to vCenter. The host connects to vCenter if I reboot vCenter, but after a few minutes, disconnects again (even if no task does run on this topic.) I have no HA or DRS enabled at this point that I build this new environment and only presented a single LUN as a store of test data to the cluster.

    Any ideas?

OK, I think I fixed that or have at least a work around. So the underlying question was hiding ID mode/CPU EVC. I'm under the cluster to a level of EVC to reduce until I have migrate workloads from old environment and I think that this created a problem for the unit vCenter. To resolve this problem, I turned off the unit, directly connected to the ESXi host that had the camera running, edited the virtual machine and reset the masking of CPUID. Also, I've hidden the flag NX/XD of the guest. It's temporary (I hope) as once I increase the EVC to the Haswell, I will expose the NX/XD comments and test. For the moment, it is of the workaround I did. It may be of some use to someone.
