Yes. You can mix and match hardware and operating systems, although only for the data grid (the cluster of base), most of the clients will run on a relatively homogeneous platform (i.e. they standardize on certain hardware and OS).

We absolutely want to use vMotion. Can be used without storage shared, correct?

Yes, it is possible since the 5.1, but there are a few things to keep in mind. It's basically a combination of storage vMotion, transferring the VM disks from one storage to another and a regular vMotion device, transfer a live VM running from the memory of one host to another.

As such it is nowhere as dynamic as a normal vMotion alone, since the copy of VM disk data can take some time. There is also no support DRS.

Must the CPU be the same model? For example, should all have Intel Xeon E5 2609 v2 CPU?

No, the basic requirement for transfer a live OS running, it's that both source and destination host supports the same CPU instruction sets. Exact model, clock speed Mhz cache, dimensions, etc. are not relevant as long as the CPU instruction sets are identical. So no, they do not have to be the exact same model.

In addition, you can enable Enhanced vMotion compatibility (EVC) on a cluster of servers with the same CPU provider, which allows you to establish the lowest common denominator of a generation of CPU between different hosts. For example, the Xeon E5 2609 v2 you mentioned is a generation Ivy Bridge CPU. If you add a generation Sandy Bridge Xeon you define the EVC to Sandy Bridge mode, as it is the older generation in your cluster and containing all common instructions sets that are also found in the home of Ivy Bridge of latest generation. If you add a

host with Haswell generation CPU, you would set the EVC at Ivy Bridge mode respectively.

VCA will hide the new instructions to virtual machines to ensure that they can be migrated directly to all guests.

You have to keep AMD out of your cluster host, but that's not really make a difference in your case since vMotion work never between AMD and Intel, and that you can not use VMware HA because you are devoid of shared storage. Just be aware that VM on the host AMD will never be able to migrate to other hosts without interruption of service through enhanced vMotion.

I put the handler appliczation language preferences to English and it works in some cases but not always. For example, 32-bit Illustrator works perfectly in English, whereas the version 64-bit show all menus and dialogs in Danish. Is it possible to fix this?

Go to/Applications/Utilities/Adobe install and uninstall Illustrator. Download/update Application Manager and install Illustrator by changing the preference of the Application Manager to English and it should appear in English.

in fact, I am very new to vmware... I installed the RHEL4 as a guest operating system. problem is that I want to communicate between two same hosts prompt if running on different machines (which are on the same subnet.. .one has ip 192.168.4.238 and another 192.168.4.237). but the ip address assigned by dhcp to the two guest OS are different subnet... .for ex was 192.168.137.128 and another 192.168.17.2...
I can't do a ping to a guest at the same host and another host also...

For Server, Workstation or Player he just use bridged networking and obtain an IP address from the DHCP server on the subnet or assign addresses manually.

Yes. You can create different consistency nodes in the same cluster with cache files - config.xml defferent as long as you use the same file tangosol - coherence.xml and the same file tangosol-coherence - override.xml. But you can't store the data in the cache in the various nodes (created with different cache-config file). In other words, a node only to create their own Hide modes that are launched with the same cache file - config.Xml.

Then I start a console cache storage-disabled people (client cache) by using the config file coherence-cache cache - config.Xml. Two of them using the same file tangosol - coherence.xml and the same file tangosol-coherence - override.xml.

Different block size in the same cluster

We use vSphere 4.0 U1. The size of the block of our VMFS data warehouses is configured as 1 MB.
We plan to add a new datastore with 2 or 4 MB, my question is:
Is it possible to configure different block sizes in the same cluster without damaging the VMS and without affecting
vMotion, SVMotion, FT, vDR, I/O performance, clone the virtual machine in another data store, deploy a VM in the data store different block size... etc?
If it's ok then all limitations or disadvantages should we pay attention to?
I have'nt found any document concerning the present and hope you guys can shed some light on this subject.

It is not question of having data with different block sizes stores - the only thing you need to keep in mind is the size limitations of different file between the block sizes - so you won't able to svmotion a virtual machine if the VMDK sizes are both great.

You can have as much as you want, just your applications should have different names or URLs and point to a specific database (using data sources).

To answer your question: no, you can't have different text in Notepad. This is because Notepad is designed to create and edit text files using the basic of formatting text. I recommend using Microsoft Word (which is part of Microsoft Office) to have different text etc. styles (if you don't have Microsoft Word and don't want to buy it, you can use a trial version. In addition, ago a productivity suite open and free, similar to Microsoft Office and provided by another company, called OpenOffice, which allows you to have different text styles).

Although, I would recommend to get Microsoft Office, there is a program called WordPad (or TextPad, depending on your operating system), which is designed to create and edit text with complex formatting. It should be in the accessories (in the same place as Notepad).

To access the Options of process definition page, select selectPeopleTools, and then selectProcess Scheduler, then selectProcesses, then selectand click on the Options tab of the process definition.

Just as you set permissions for pages, a user can access, you must also specify the batch (and online) process that can call users through PeopleSoft process scheduler. In general, process groups are classified by Department or task. For example, batch programs used by your payroll probably all belong to the PAYROLL process group, or a group named the same way.

When you create a process permissions list, you add the groups of appropriate process so that a user belonging to a particular role can call the appropriate batch programs to complete their commercial transactions. To do this, use the process group permissions page.

The process authorization profile page allows you to specify when a user or role can modify certain parameters of the PeopleSoft process scheduler.

Note: You grant process profile directly to the profile user and group permissions of process through whitelists.

Access the page process groups (click on the permissions link on the whitelists - page process process group).

This page lists the groups of processes associated with a permissions list. Process groups are collections of process definitions that you create using the PeopleSoft process scheduler.

As a general rule, you group process definitions by groups of work within your organization, and this working group usually has a particular role that is associated with. No matter how you organize process definitions, you must assign process groups to a permissions list.

Users can run only processes that belong to groups of processes assigned to their roles. For example, you can have a set of process definitions that relate to your human resources department and another set for your production service.

In other words:

Add the process to the runcontrol component, providing the user access to the runcontrol component.

Add process group processes. Add process group to the permissions list. Assign the authorization list to user.
