  2. Disable all passwords that are enabled
  3. If current password request - type the unlock code
  4. New password, simply press the ENTER key
  5. Repeat the same thing to check the password column.
  6. Then exit the BIOS saving & exit option to save the changes.

  Troubleshooting:

  Incase if the password does not work please try a Hard Reset as follows.

  1. Shut down the laptop
  2. Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery
  3. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds
  4. Plug the power supply/AC adapter (leave the battery for now) & start Notepad
  5. If now see you a password, please enter the same password I've shared before and press on enter

  You can remove the need for a power on password as follows.

  Shut down the laptop.  Now on TAP the ESC key as soon as you press the power button to access the start menu, then select f10 to open the Bios menu.  Use the arrows to select the Security tab and press ENTER.  Use the arrow keys again to highlight the power on password and press ENTER.  Enter the current password and then the new password, simply leave this blank and press on enter - do the same for the confirmation field.  Press f10, select this option to save the new settings and press to enter.

  In fact just, I went into my profile and took a look at directories and files inside. I've seen tons of files and directories related to genieo, vidxo and Mozilla/Firefox (and other files plist that after a little research, I didn't need at all), so I deleted them. I restarted my Mac, reinstalled Firefox, import my favorites saved, and that did the trick.

  Your profile suggestion woul have worked as well. I do not start in safe mode, but it is always a smart thing to do. Thanks for the reply.

  Your Admin password works elsewhere?  Is the rejection of password specifically with sudo and not (also) some other components of Mac OS X?   If the password work elsewhere and only not to sudo, then create a new administrative user, connect to this new user, launch Terminal.app here and see if sudo works there.

  Your administrator password is empty?  If so, replace it with a valid, non-empty password, then try again sudo.

  My master password had been working perfectly. All of a sudden it stopped working. It might have coincided with the installation of SP1 Win7. I have reset the password (although this will create a lot of work) and it still does not work. Loading Firefox ver 5 did not help either.
