I reinstall my w510 with vertex drives in there.

I'm trying to install win7 on it.

This I do from a bootable USB.

It starts the only problem is that it does not extend beyond the selection of drive.

If I try to load the driver I get an error. May I use a bad driver.

Can someone help me with this? I have a raid 0 configuration.

I think I have a few bad driver the model I have is 4389 - 2HG

hope to hear from you guys soon.

solved the problem.

I don't know how but did.

I added the Moose old HARD drive and once I installed the ssd in.

    Hi xploreaj,

I noticed that often happens when a system has something like Norton or McAfee installed and that it has not been disabled prior to installation of the SP3.  If you encounter any other problems, then it is reasonable to assume that everything is ok.  However, you can also scan your system with Malwarebytes to see if there is no infections present which your current AV software has not picked up on. (how to use Malwarebytes: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/how-to-use-malwarebytes-anti-malware-tutorial).

  • Network problems intermittent management with more than 1 works ESXi

    Hello

I had problems since installation with our 2 x ESXi 5.5 nodes running on a Dell VRTX system.

If I had to run 1 ESXi nodes on its own, it works perfectly, no problems what so ever, but as soon as I start the 2nd node they network for the management network connectivity problems.  However any virtual machine that you are running on them have no problem at all.

The easiest way for me to check it comes to ping the management network and it will be on one of the nodes timeout, then it will randomly and knitting on this node but timeout on the other, they will never return a ping at the same time.

If anyone has experienced this before? I fight to see if there is a problem with the installation on the ESXi hosts, the network Dell VRTX or our NetGear switch.

I tried a lot of solutions and been through the different pages of VMware KB but can't seem to find something that suits him.

The network Dell 8 physical ports are all in one LAG with 2 nodes added, I tried the distinct lag, but that made no difference, I am focusing now on if it is a parameter of VMware to see where that gets me.

That's how the two nodes are configured.

    vmnet.JPG

    Solved!

Finally, I spotted the problem, and VMware technical support fixed it for me.

The MAC address of each management network was the same!, for some reason, the host of the 2nd got the MAC address of a NIC to host the premiere, don't know how its possible but VMware support restored all of the network settings from scratch and it picked up the correct MAC and works.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

  • Anyone running Windows (Vista or 7) with a SSD having problems with Windows Update? FIXED *.

I ask this question because I have now two computers with this problem.

A computer running Win7 and it used to work with the SSD but recently I wipe the drive and reinstall the OS and now it will not update windows.

The second computer is a laptop with WinVista final.  This machine, I have improved since a physical hard drive to an SSD a month ago.  This time, he made Windows update without problem.  Now all of a sudden it will also not Windows update.

A third computer in my house that runs WinVista on a physical drive will be the Windows Update now without any problems.

So the only link I see is the SSD...

I replied to your other thread on this issue, but in the case where you'd miss it, I copied and pasted what I wrote here.

    FIXED!

My laptop is fixed and is installing new updates (I probably Jinx it now and it will come with an error).

What I did ask the help desk where you chat with a microsoft technician, they take control of remote access from my laptop, and after about an hour of playing around with it (I tried to follow what they were doing - many command prompt and things) they have restarted and said it should be good now. I was very doubtful, because it just shows the same page hanging so thought I would not want to go back and ask them again the next day, but I left it overnight and here this morning there were some updates 208 ready and waiting!

The technician was really helpful, they offered me paid a pension of microsoft (I think they must do this in standard), but I politely declined and they were wearing on fixing it free in any case for me!

They gave me a few options also, they said that if they had done did not work, then I could try searching with an ethernet cable (sometimes a more stable connection is all you need) or if it does not, they offered me a newer version of windows 7, which had all updates already downloaded if I wanted to do an OS reinstall everything (I said I prefer not the) do that but it was nice to have the option, if everything else has failed). They also said they would offer phone support for free all the reinstall if I need assistance.

He also confirmed that they solve this problem a lot and it was certainly not an error at the end of microsoft, or anything to do with the SSD/HDD, etc..

Overall, really impressed with the service of help desk, I highly recommend asking them if you still need help. Go here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/contactus?wa=wsignin1.0# and click on "services and applications" to open a window where you can chat.

One thing though, once that my laptop had found all of the updates, I clicked on install and it came with the error message 80240016. I Googled, followed the instructions on this link here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows7/windows-update-error-80240016 and it worked perfectly the second time around.

Just to confirm, now that I've finished writing this post, my updates have completely installed!

Hope it will be useful to anyone still hurt!

  • Symbol ban after new installation on new SSD

    Hello

A few months ago, my original HD failed (MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2012)).

I decided to replace it myself with a SSD instead.

the thing is, every time you start, I get the symbol ban for a few seconds until sometimes for hours, but once the start is done - everything works perfectly.

tried to replace the disc SSD 3 times now - the same result after each new installation of recovery of the internet.

Currently, using SanDisk Ultra II 240 GB.

    Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

The symbol you see means that the computer did not find a bootable system disk and sometimes occurs when you have not set up a default startup disk. Go to System Preferences, and then select Startup disk. You should see your SSD in the window. Select it after you unlock the preferences.

The strange thing is that, if this is your problem, it must be solved in seconds - certainly not hours. This would suggest there is something more complex. You say that you tried to replace the SSD 3 times. Different drives? Different manufacturers?

For clean installation try to download Microsoft Media creation tool first. Using the tool, you can download a copy of the Win 8.1 installer. Save 8.1 only and not the PRO. During installation, the installation program does not the product key but it detect automatically your bios.

You will need to place the ssd instead of the original location of the hard drive to boot successfully.

  • Speed XP Virtual Machine with disk SSD/Velociraptor/7200 RPM EVEN!

    Hi all -

Recently I decided that I was tired of waiting for one of my XP VM to boot. He took ~6.5 minutes, at the time where all services started and everything and I've been to a logon screen. I have a Velociraptor that my (clean install of Windows 7 x 64 RC1) operating system was turned on, so I bought an SSD, installed and copied my my 7200 RPM WD Caviar Black VMs to the SSD. Naturally, I was not impressed by the results of the tests AT ALL. I saw the following:

    • Operating system loaded on Velociraptor, VM XP on WD Caviar= 6.5 minutes to start the VM/login prompt to appear

    • Operating system loaded on Velociraptor, VM on SSD= 6.25 minutes to start the VM/login prompt to appear

    • Operating system loaded on SSD, VM on Velociraptor= 6.5 minutes to start the VM/login prompt to appear

This seems really strange, since all the posts that I read is the drive faster, faster operates the VMWare VM / fastest. Throw into the mix that the portable original that this virtual machine has been converted will start in about 3.25 minutes (IBM T42, Celeron CPU @ 1.70 GHz, 2 GB RAM) and something seems really wrong...

I had markers with crystal drive and I'm getting great flow on the SSD; readings are really quick, / writing sucks, as expected.  I also notice that my boot time host o/s, Office, race etc. faster.  I really expected increases in day/night performance here on my virtual machine, not more of the same for disk SSD $200...

By the way, I have dedicated 2 GB of RAM to this VM XP and have only run with a single processor.  And before anyone asks: no, I can not improved this virtual machine to Vista/Windows 7, due to restrictions on IT.

So, my questions for the group here are:

    1. Is there something special I need to do to make the more attentive virtual machine?  The main thing that I hear, it is to throw as much RAM and disk speed, you can him... obviously, I did... and no, dedicate 3 GB, 4 GB of RAM doesn't help, either. I already tried...

    2. My VM has a single disk (~ 42GB).  Would I have noticed no improvement in speed, dividing the disk (in pieces of 2GB)?

    3. I see the best performance by using a dedicated hard drive controller (Vs the edge)?

    4. If I see the best performance with a hard disk controller dedicated, he's more intelligent RAID 0 two Velociraptors or two SSD performance for VMWare?

I am willing to spend money on a controller or another SSD or Velociraptor (or a controller and another drive), I don't want to feel like I am wasting time and $$$ trying to achieve a performance that cannot be established in VMWare.

My features of the platform are:

    • Operating systems: Windows 7 x 64 RC1 (fresh installs for all tests)

    • CPU: C2D E6750-2.67 GHz

    • RAM: 8 GB RAM

    • Motherboard: Gigabyte P35-DS3L (Southbridge: ICH9)

    • Storage:

      • Corsair Extreme Series CMFSSD - 1 64 64 GB 2.5 "SATA II MLC (contains the OS)

      • Western Digital Velociraptor 150 GB (contains virtual machines)

      • Western Digital Caviar Black 1.0 TB (General store)

Thank you, in advance, for all your comments.

    @ noirfan1:

Re: #1: OK, it used to take me more than an hour to perform a scan on demand with the vmdk files stored on a 1 TB western digital 7200 RPM drive.  When I moved to an SSD (60 GB Supertalent) vmdk files time has decreased to the point where the total scan time less than 8 minutes.

Re: #2: OK, I think that there may be a service startup time, driver, or a process that can be hung up the system which is not related to disk IO.

Re: #3: If you use the same .vm * exact files on two different systems and see a big difference in time of start, check and confirm that the virtual machine configuration settings are identical.  An example would be to have the virtual CD-ROM connected to an ISO on a network share and have the virtual CD-ROM disconnected from each other.

A good test in the strict sense for the disk performance is to create clean XP install on the raptor and the DSS, and compare boot times in this way.  I'm not too familiar with the SSD Corsair you mention, but it should be faster.  Beware if it is based on the Jmicron controller (they are known to have huge problems with the random read performance) instead of a controller Indilinx Barefoot or Intel.

Another test of the performance of the hard drive could run iometer inside each virtual machine to check the raw performance of io.  HD tune is another tool, that you can use for an easier test.

    I hope this helps.

    Of OWC SSD: OWC SSD

I upgraded my Early 2011 13 inch Macbook Pro using a SSD Samsung 850 EVO 500 GB and I've seen a dramatic speed increase.

Once you decide on a SSD, I suggest that you install it in an external enclosure from OWC enclosure or with a USB to SATA adapter SATA USB adapter and connect to your MBP via USB.

Open disk utility > delete and format the SSD for Mac OS extended (journaled) and a GUID partition.

Then, use a third party application like Carbon Copy Cloner Carbon Copy Cloner (not free, but worth the price) or Super Duper to copy all data from the HARD drive internal as well as the recovery partition.

The clone will be an exact copy of your hard drive and it will be bootable.

  • The MBP 13 "with an SSD upgrade

I want to upgrade my Macbook Pro 13 "(fin 2011)." I want to remove the optical drive and replace it with the SSD. The problem is that my hard drive is almost 400 GB occupied out of 500 GB. The budget SSD will be the 250 GB. How should I proceed in this case, I want the OS can be completely copied into the SSD and the rest of the things in the hard drive. Have I not clone entire hard drive SSD or copy only the operating system work? Applications work if they are in the hard drive and operating system is in SSD.

Usually in the facilities of double disc such as you plan, the DSS should have the OSX installed on it and find where the current HARD drive.  The HARD drive is then placed in the location of the DVD player.  But the final choice is always yours.

Back up your data on an external HARD drive.

Because the SSD will not have the capacity to hold all of your data, I recommend that you format the SSD drive, install the OSX and install it in the MBP.

Then you have some decisions to make.  What data do you want on the SSD and what data to remain on the HARD disk in the location of DVD?  From inside connectivity is much faster than USB (unless you have a connection available Thunderbolt), I would setup the backup disk in the DVD drive and data location 'drag & drop' for the SSD.

Depending on the capacity/performance of the HARD drive and HARD drive backup, you can keep them where they are or trade.  If keep you them where they are, clear the outboard/back up in the car and the two internal drives to backup.  If change you disks, clone the drive that now is outboard to the internal HARD drive (it has all of your data and the top OSX) and then erase the drive HARD outside and safeguarding the two internal drives for it.

Life would be simpler if you can afford a 500 GB SSD.

    Ciao.

In fact, this is not true. As long as he uses a large SSD enough it will be able to use the recovery media. I suggest using a SSD of 256 or 512 GB if budgeted for the upgrade...

He doesn't have to make a Windows 7 installation USB drive and use the activation key license on the certificate of authenticity from the PC Windows to perform a cleanup to install.

One of them should be on your PC. The Prodct key is what is needed for installation and activation online.
