W520 - using the partition recovery without a bootable operating system installed

I have a W520 with a hard drive that has been completely wiped out the Q/recovery partition.

Is there a workflow for using the recovery partition to rebuild the factory Windows 7 install?

1. Enter ImageX from Microsoft (somewhere).
2. get a USB bootable with Windows 7 installation
3. Prime the USB key and enter repair tools (command prompt)
4. navigate to the recovery partition, file FactoryRecovery.
5 Note the size of the sdrivebackup.wim
6. use DISKPART to create a partition of at least that size. Make sure that it is the first, it is active and defined at startup.
7. use ImageX to apply sdrivebackup.wim to this partition.

The command should be: ImageX/apply [recoverypartition]:\FactoryRecovery\sdrivebackup.wim [newpartition]:------]
8 can use DISKPART to create a partition of Windows 7 Fluxsol (probably all the remaining space).
9. again, use ImageX to apply cdrivebackup.swm to the newly created partition of Windows 7.

The command should be: ImageX/apply [recoverypartition]:\FactoryRecovery\cdrivebackup.swm [newwindowspartition]:------]

Ideally this should operate. If it doesn't, try a reboot system Windows Installer USB tool to solve any problem of bootloader.

    Hi all

In my system, it's already installed 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate. I want to install 32-bit Windows 7 Home Premium. Is it possible to have two operating system installed on the same computer? Can I do it?

    PL, guide me positively.

    Best regards

    Kapil Kumar.

The amount of RAM is okay as long as you have a minimum of 2 GB installed. Even if you have more than 4 GB, it would not matter, Windows 7 Home Premium just won't recognize it.

In respect with the both, you can set up a dual-boot configuration. Please note that you must have a unique product key to activate Windows 7 Home Premium.

See the instructions how to set up a partition:

    http://www.groovypost.com/HOWTO/dual-boot-Windows-10-other-versions-Windows/

References Windows 10, but the same instructions for Windows 7 also work.

Click Start, right-click computer, click on manage

    Click on disk management

Select the system partition in which Windows 10 is installed. Right-click, and then click on cut.

Enter the amount of space you want to allocate to Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, then click on cut. The more, the better.

An unallocated partition will now be available. Right-click, and then click New Simple Volume

This will start the wizard new Simple Volume, which will allow you to format, assign a drive letter and volume label.

Once your partition is ready, you are now ready to install Windows 7

Boot from the Windows 7 Home Premium disc, then

    Click Custom (advanced option)

Select the partition we created earlier, and then click Next.

Wait for the copy of the Windows installation files.

  • Concerns about the visibility of the partition recovery (Recovery HP, HP Tools)

    Dear all,

I have HP Pro book 450 in our workplace. Before giving it to a few new users, I noticed one thing that the recovery of the laptop partitions are visible with the drive letters when you open "My computer" and they are:

    -HP Recovery

    -HP Tools

Now, in this case two important scores above are damaging in error by the user, I'm looking for every possible way confirmed secure these partitions, as for example to hide them by removing their drive letters will help or make problem when restoring the laptop?

The laptop came with recovery DVD for Windows 7, but I can't find any key code, where is the key code?

    Please help.

If there is no COA on the laptop and it is a new model comes with Windows 7, then the key of windows 8 THAT injected DPK and Win7 SLP 2.1 in BIOS to activate...

It is highly recommended that you create usb recovery media by using the HP Recovery Media Creator utility. To reinstall Windows 7 without user created media recovery or recovery partition, you will need to get the HP recovery discs.

This info came from my HP internal information sources.

Install an operating system and activation will occur as soon as the laptop has internet access. In your case, it would be a good plan to the password of the BIOS for the keys do not get authorized inadvertently by a curious user. It is also recommended that you create an account HP Sparekey in BIOS.

  • Equium A200-1V0 - how to use the Toshiba Recovery CD product?

I used the reinstall xp on desktop before but do not need to do a reinstall on your laptop (toshiba) with vista with their product recovery disc. With vista, I had to find my own drivers etc. after the OS is installed on a clean drive.

I want to clean the disc by using a product of drive wipe as Dariks boot and nuke (used on office/xp computers some time and as a very clean before you reinstall drive) on my laptop Toshiba Equium A200-1V0 before inserting the product recovery cd.

    Questions-
    (1) is it ok to erase drive with DBAN - this usually effect the ability of the recovery CD to do its job?
    (2) how can I use the product recovery cd or it is free it is exposed just charge, boot from the cd and follow the instructions online?
    (3) it will return the laptop to the factory shipping status (i.e. don't have no need to look for the drivers, etc.)?

Thank you very much for your help - just need to be reassured that have not is it a wipe and reinstall on your laptop and vista with a "recovery disc" (always a disc not specify that it is a full copy of the operating system

Last night, I used the product recovery disc supllied with the laptop in an attempt to restore its initial configuration.

and the end of the procedure, I find myself with a prompt cmd with X:\windows\system32\cmd.exe in the high bit blue box indicating:

Error: imageX could not apply vista F:\05993xsp.swm Index 2 of ODD to C:\!

Below I have then have the possibility of esc or continue with the same result of the system attempts to restart.

The recovery disc has no option of repair on this subject.

need help please, I have no idea.

    Thank you

    Hello

Looks like something was wrong during the recovery procedure.
Have you tried to recover the laptop once more?
If this isn't the case, you should definitely try this!

You are right; hasn t drive recovery option for the repair because the recovery disk is not the same as a MS Vista drive. The recovery disk contains image files (it s a package) and the files contains Vista, Toshiba drivers, tools and additional software.

So if something was happening well wrung out during the recovery procedure, you will not be able to repair the installation of the OS, but you need to run it again.

  • How do I reinstall the old applications backed up using the backup recovery mgr software

I fell off my machine after reloading some files of the .NET framework.  Because windows is more loaded, I used the HP recovery discs and made a backup complete both DVD and USB from my hard drive.  Then I went ahead and allow the recovery disk reformat and reload the factory system.  I went to use the recovery to re - install all applications and files, but it only copied all the stuff in a folder on my drive C:\.  IF ten to twelve apps (quicken, genealogy, adobe paintshop & pdf, MS SQL) are not loaded. It seems that my entire system sits in a file folder.  Great if I wanted to only data, but I really want to use applications without reloading everything from scratch.  I found no executable file to start such a reload. I was happy with my machine before the accident, and if I could do a simple recovery from before I installed these files, I would have done it instead of the reformat.  Alas, whatever the back backwards, I went, windows was pretty much DOA.

    I have a HP Pavilion with win7.

    Is it a lost cause?

The HP Recovery software backup only a specific list of types of data files and the folder they reside in. No programs were backed up, and even if they were, they would not work properly. You will have to reinstall all the software that you previously installed.

  • lost user account after using the windows recovery disk.

Help, please. I turned on my computer and found that windows vista could not start due to a currupt file.

I have tried rebooting several times without success and ended by using the samsung recovery disc to get windows vista to work.

I had to create a new user account and have been able to find my original account on the C drive but don't know how to restore it so I don't have start with a new account from scratch.

    Any help is appreciated.

Information, the original version of windows is now called windows.old and it is here that I want to use the user account.

    Hi Geek teenager,

Surly there is a way to restore the user account that is sitting in windows.old on the C: drive, instead of having to reinstall all the programs that I never downloaded?

Programs need to be reinstalled from the original media: CD, DVD, download, etc.

You can recover data from the windows.old folder, but not programs.

    Set up a new account.

OK guys, I'm about to return my lease (Toshiba Tecra S1); because the video card is 'us' and I would like to reformat the drive and return the system to its original state by using the "product recovery cd-rom provided Toshiba."

My problem is that the video card is on the right track and using windows is a challenge quite like its like watching a patchwork blanket. So, when you try to use the recovery of product cd-rom, I can just not read the screen "its comparable to the matrix.

I really need a tutorial step by step with screenshots at each step 'a map of the fool '. Can anyone help.

    Thanks in advance,
    Robsta

    Hello Robsta

Believe you did not need the step by step tutorials or shoots screen. The recovery procedure is very simply.

Put the recovery CD in the CD/DVD drive
Turn on the laptop and keep C button for a few seconds
Follow the menu on the screen
Choose option 1 for installation in Standard mode and just follow what is happening on the screen

    All that s!

  • Satellite L755 - how to return to Windows 7 using the HDD Recovery folder

    Hello
    are how you today

    I own a toshiba Satellite L755.
I have recently upgraded to windows 7 to windows 8, and now I do not have windows 8. I want to go back to windows 7.

Many people say that it is possible using the HDD Recovery folder that I have on my D drive and it s 13.5 GB.

What I need is to know if its possible and if you can you explain to me how its done.

I searched the Web for an answer for tha last 4 hours and I thank you

    > Many people say that it is possible using the HDD Recovery folder that I have on my D drive and it s 13.5 GB

A lot of people said you can use HARD drive recovery in order to put the system back to factory settings.
This true s but this is possible ONLY if the system has not been modified.

In case you have changed the system, you could go back to the factory settings using the recovery disk!
Recovery disk may be created using the preinstalled tool called Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.

Have you created this disc in the past!

  • Using the FN keys without flash cards

    Hello everyone

I wonder if its possible to use the FN keys without toshiba flash cards on the top of the screen and therefore without having to install the value-added package?

Some FN keys like brightness, mute, switch the display and sleep work without VAP
but I also enabled WiFi, touchpad switch, mode switching power, buttons, which do not zoom

Yet once, I don't want this utility to flash, still running cards and consumption of ram

As far as I know something like this is not possible and if you have FN feature flash card utility must be running in the background.
This along with the consumption of RAM is funny to me because if you turn it off you won't see any difference in the performance of the computer.

Maybe you should disable some other background process unnecessary that you don't need.
If you have the new model laptop with Win7 they have enough RAM for all operations and execution of flash cards will not have much influence on the performance of the computer.
