Most likely it will not start. Windows is not designed to be moved from a motherboard to another. In some cases, you can just install a new motherboard and start the computer, but you almost always have to reinstall Windows when you replace the motherboard (unless you buy the same exact model mother card). You will also need to reactivate the reinstallation.

You can try to repair the Windows 7 Installation (sometimes it works after replacing the motherboard, sometimes it does not work)

1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 and restart your computer
2 boot from the DVD.
3. choose your language and click Next.
4. click on repair your computer, select the operating system you want to repair.
5. click on the link to repair list system in the System Recovery Options recovery tools.

    Sorry to hear that Atrium... obviously service agents forgot to update the Windows key after the replacement of the motherboard.
    As far as I know the key OEM activation process must be done before performing the recovery process...

    What shall I say I see no other way to communicate with the service in order to solve this problem... once more talk to the guy and I'm sure they know what to do

    It is not easy to find the new motherboard and believe me it's quite expensive, you can buy the new notebook.

    What you can do is to contact the nearest Toshiba service provider first. Explain the situation and ask if they can help you with this. They are also able to get the new motherboard for you.

    New parts can be ordered from the local ASP.
    But be aware that a new motherboard is not good cheap. You will need for a replacement of the mobo 300Euros.
    I think that it s not worth buying a new motherboard because you could add a few Euros and might get a new laptop.

    However, you can view some websites like Ebay for example a satellite M30/Satellite Pro M30 of second hand. Perhaps you could get a second hand mobo

    I doubt that this is because why Toshiba ask a new motherboard?

    The update of the BIOS is not covered by the warranty and it should only be done if you have a problem with your laptop and not just for fun.

    What you can do now is to contact the nearest ASP. Technicians can try to reflash the ROM module, but in the worst cases, your motherboard should be replaced. :(

    They have access to the database of Toshiba and can tell you the exact reference.
    For you is important to get the motherboard for model PSPC2E and it will be exactly the same.

    This model of laptop is fairly new, and I imagine that it will be difficult to get the new motherboard. Of course, you can order one by authorized service provider, but it will be expensive.

    Have you checked eBay? With a little luck, you'll find a L40 with faulty display or any other hardware problem. Maybe using two defective notebooks, you can have one that works correctly. ;)
