WAE-7371-K9

Hello

In our society, we used Cisco WAE-511-K9 as a web cache. I would like to ask if the model CISCO WAE-7371-K9 can also work as a web cache?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Kind regards

Jakub

Hi Jakub,

I guess you are running ACNS - visit this link for supported platforms:

http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/app_ntwk_services/WAAS/ACNS/v55_31/...

ACNS is End-of-Life, so better you start looking for something else:

http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/application-networking-...

Beware replacement (BOOKLETS) mentioned in the link is only for video, not WEb cache in general.

Best regards

Finn

  • WAE WAAS-7341 improved 5.3.3 to 5.3.5 and lost half of corporate communications

Remote sites running running, 274 s or 674 s.  All 674 s run WCCP, all 274 s inline, main office running "inline" 7341, CM is on a 274 in the main office, it's always about 5.3.5.

So passage of 5.3.3 to 5.3.5 broke 60% of all corporate communications.  I have since downgraded to 5.3.3 however back, to 5.3.5 all SSL traffic has failed, Exchange e-mail failed, SAP Logon failed and a portion of the CIFS traffic failed.

I turned off WCCP, in a site remote, everything has worked, on return, everything has failed.  Interfaces of the inline in the main office Shutdown worked.  Downgraded the main office of 5.3.5 to 5.3.3 and all worked, same places running 5.3.5 had no communication problems when the seat was demoted in 5.3.3.

I like downgraded most of my places to 5.3.3 still 4 5.3.5 running.  Don't know if anyone else had problems in upgrading to 5.3.5 and just wanted to put out there.  I've been on a version more version 4.1.x - 5.3.x and have never had such a complete and total failure, as I had to 5.3.5.  There have been incidents during updates where I lost SSL or had problems with e-mail and there was always a quick work around to solve.  This time, I didn't know how to look for a solution to "the sky is falling!"  And decommissioning took less time than the composition of this post.

Everyone has upgraded to 5.3.5?  Have you had problems after the upgrade?

    Hello

Please see the next section of the 5.3.5 release notes.

I guess your 7341 principal is "inline". There is a known issue with inline card:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/app_ntwk_services/WAAS/WAAS/v535/WS...

5.3.5a version just came out with the fix.

If you are deploying the WAVE-274/474/574 or WAE-674/7371/7341 devices with a card online as a device of edge or core wide area acceleration engine (WAE), Cisco does not recommend that you upgrade to Wide Area Application Services software Cisco, Version 5.3.5. This can cause data corruption when data are sent to the client. For more information, see CSCun85976 . This does not affect your deployment if you use the WAVE-274/474/574 or WAE-674/7371/7341 devices Cisco WAAS AppNav or with the Communication for the Web (WCCP) Cache Protocol or if you use devices WAVE-294/594/694/7541/7571/8541.

    Hope that helps,

  • Path to upgrade WAAS 4.4.7 WAE-512 to 5.4 vCM CM

I have a deployed WAAS system running 4.4.7 and old WAE hardware is all on the clock at the end of LIFE or do not support 5.4 at all.   The fairies of budge had the money at the end of the year so I have boxes of new WAVE and vCM 5.4 DVD to deploy.

My question is what is the process to upgrade to the CMs?

Can I just turn up two 5.4 vCMs as a CMs that is secondary to the primary CM 4.4.7 on a WAE-512, then do a primary?  Guess who than a 5.4 secondary school could synchronize and then directly back from a 4.4.7 elementary school.  It's the bit I have doubts on the subject.

Or would I need to start with vCMs to 4.4.7 to synchronize, and then take more primary and upgrade?  Is there a 4.4.7 vCM image?

If it's a dead-end, I saw another discussion on the decommissioning of a WAVE-294.   I think we could be demoted in 4.4.7 joined as a CM high, promoted to the primary and then improved as a springboard for vCMs to 5.4.  Then the 294 would be deployed as an accelerator as initially planned.  Traps with it?

Or is there a simpler way that I'm missing entirely?

Can anyone confirm also that the console RJ45 ports on the WAVE-* 94 have the same pinout as traditional Cisco switch RJ-45 console ports?

    Thank you.

    Hi Edward,.

For the upgrade process, you will need to follow this procedure:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/app_ntwk_services/WAAS/WAAS/v541/re...

Then, either to the low grade your vCM to 4.4.7 (it must be a vCM-100-2000)

-It is without doubt an image vCM 4.4.7 out there somewhere, but it might be difficult to obtain.

    - or just use the "copy... install" on your vCM, to get downgraded.

or use the method 294 (same method applies)

But as I see it, there is no need to play around wit ha secondary CM, you need not the cm to ensure optimization, when things are running.

You can easily change a CM for a configuration accellerator and charging, unless we take to vWAAS, where the image of the egg is locked.

don't forget to make a backup of your CMS database and put it elsewhere, before you start the upgrade.

  • WAE free CM

    Mr President.

We have two registered with CM already WAEs and optimize traffic. Now, after some change of routing, one of the WAE cannot access the CM more. It will keep the traffic optimization without access to the CM?

    Thank you

    Hi Joseph,.

Even if you run some of these below in the CLI, it would be difficult to:

    • Monitor and maintain the WAAS system
    • deploy, or change the policies, etc.

If your race with certificates or secure store, it would be almost impossible,

So really, I suggest that you change the routing or get the problem fixed otherwise.

  • Cisco WAE 574 HDD simple replacement

    Hi all

Will you please someone from Cisco or the Support forum can advise.

I had 3 devices may 4 have the single 500 GB HDD drives fail them. Tonight, I tried to replace the first failed drive without success.

Replace drive itself went well and the WAE-574 starts very well. When you check the condition of the disc, it went well. I added the license file (company) level which she agreed and when checking the "show license" it says "active".

Looking at the options 'See the stat con' all I saw was TDL which means for me the CIFS AO was not working properly. I tried for 2 hours in my window to change to fix this problem without success.

When the command 'Accelerator show' he showed all the CIFS, HTTP, MAPI, etc as nurses = Yes, configured state = Enabled, however operating state = stop.

The research on the internet and Cisco of the forum that this possibly indicated a license problem. I tried to delete it and left 5 to 10 minutes and reactivated but still no joy. I also tried a disk partitions-data deletion followed by a reload, and it has not yet.

One thing to add that looking at the table of alarm that I see a Core Dump, Crash has mentioned that some cases looking at means having to connect a Cisco TAC case.

Can someone tell if they have encountered this or has any transaction with a replacement of failed drive HARD unique Cisco WAAS?

    Thanks in advance guys.

    See you soon

    Craig

    Hi Craigh,

You have installed the software on the disc after replacement?

If you have only a single WAVE-574 drive, there is no way to rebuild the disk (from the DESCENT) and therefore the portion of WAAS software disk is missing.

    Check this: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/waas/v411/co...

  • To change the host name of the device WAE

If I want to change the host name of one of the WAE machine in my network, can I just rename it through Central Manager GUI? It is possible through CLI as well? Would the database of this device kept in CM by the change of host name?

    Thank you!

    Joe

    Hey Joe,

You should be able to change it without any impact. In her change CM. the WAE you want to change. In activation select left pane and change the name to what you want it to be and click on submit. I would like to know if this is the information you were looking for? In her change CM. the WAE you want to change. In activation select left pane and change the name to what you want it to be and click on submit.

  • 2 WAE WCCP l2 only 1 gets traffic

    Hello

I have 1 router WAN and 2 devices configured in WCCP. The configuration works very well except that only the first WAVE that sees the router and set the WCCP receives traffic. What I mean is that the two waves see the router and vice versa. When I set the WCCP link, the first WAVE to his establishment becomes WAE DRIVING and another doesn't get it packages. If I disconnect the WAE lead or change its configuration WCCP and put again, WCCP switches the other WAE and the other is now exclusevly receiving traffic. No load balancing is reached.

First of all here is my configuration:

    1 router WAN Cisco ISR G2 2911 IOS 15.2 (1) T

WAAS in WAVE-274 cisco 2 version 4.3.3 configured in the same way for WCCP.

    Router IP: 10.x.y.1/22

WAVE IPs: 10.x.y.9 and 10.x.y.7 22 and default gateway is the router 10.x.y.1

Users are on the same network 10.x.y.0/22 (is that a problem? I read in a WAAS setup guide the WAE cannot be in the same network as the users)

Second, here is the relevant config:

    Router:

    IP cef

    WCCP IP 61

SUCCESS! Found a reasonable backup of my favorites in the wastebasket of Windows. To answer a question on this subject there was nothing in the "Backupfile" Firefox was pointing to when I tried the restore of the bookmark. I found the backup file using Windows Explorer (a blow of dagger in the dark). Once I found this file, I went back to restore the FireFox bookmarks and pointed at the location in the Recycle Bin of Windows. My Favorites where restored, partially, but I was able to use them.

  • WAAS upgrade help

    Hi guys,.

I am WAAS upgrade to version 5.1.1 to 5.4.1a in Central Manager. It would be my first time. I downloaded a picture of ftp://xx.x.77.166/waas-universal-5.4.1a.17-k9.bin to the CM. I have not activated the automatic recharge. Once I have activate Auto Reload is only the installation of the software is done completely? After the upgrade is made for CM can I push the image and update the SRE engines?

    Thanks for your reply.

    Hi Vishnu,

Basically, you must follow the procedure described here:

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/TD/docs/app_ntwk_services/WAAS/WAAS/v541/co...

Since you already have downloaded the software of the MC (and I suppose you want to use the CM as the 'repository') you must do the following:

    1. Remember to create a backup of the CMS database and copy it somewhere outside the CM
    2. enable ftp on the CM server (inetd enable ftp)
    3. possibly create user name for using ftp (pointing to the CM itself)
    4. Save the image of the software on the CM (see guide) - click "Auto Reload" If you wish
    5. in the CM device - click Update
      1. now the software will be installed on the CM and CM will be recharging (if Auto Reload is enabled)
    6. Do the same for your remaining devices of WAAS - however I recommend that:
      1. Use the 'image of the accelerator only' for non-CM devices (it is 'only' 290 MB vs 395MB) which reduces transfer time
      2. Download and save this image similar to the universal image
      3. and follow the same procedure for each WAE/SRE/WAVE

If you do not, click the "Auto Reload", you will need to recharge the device yourself... after the upgrade.

Don't forget that WAAS 5.4.x is not supported on 274/474/574/674/7341/7371

  • WAAS - Akamai Acceleration

    Hello

I have two WAEs (software version 5.5.7 b10) and I'm doing some tests with Akamai Connect.

I see in the domestic traffic HTTP of WAE accelerated with approved ID field empty. For me, this means that Akamai accelerates this traffic, correct? But I am not able to see HTTPS traffic is accelerated (screen attached 2.png)

I did another test by creating a static route in router branch for an IP address to my router base (route ip 173.236.246.150 255.255.255.255 10.8.3.3). With this specific IP address, I see HTTPS traffic in fast motion, but I see in peer ID WAE kernel. For me, this means that WAAS accelerates correct not Akamai, and HTTPS traffic? (screen attached 1.png)

Question: How Akamai can accelerate HTTPS traffic in the same way as for HTTP traffic?

I see a lot of mager as "PT underway" HTTPS traffic. I understand that this is because branch WAE can not find core WAE. But, why he does not like HTTP, which is being accelerated in spite of it?

    Hello

For now, in order to optimize the https via Connect to Akamai, you will need a deployment of two-sided (for plain http will make a two-sided deployment).

    Have a look here: http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/app_ntwk_services/waas/waas/v621/co...

This comes from waas 6.2.1 and your version is even older.

  • WAAS Email alert

Is it possible to set up e-mail alerts for when the central Manager displays an alert.  For example recently one of our devices show that a diet is bad and must be replaced.  I see in the Manager of the central, there is a section for the SMTP server info, but according to the documentation, I think it's only for the notification of the report jobs correct me if I'm wrong. I also know that you can go to each device and configure notifications and provide the SMTP info here as well but I don't know if that will send the right information.  I looked on the device GUI that has the power of bad diet and cannot be found anywhere in the GUI, who says he has a bad power supply. The alert is only appear in the Manager of the central as well as if you SSH to the machine and do a show alerts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Daniel,.

Yes. You are right. The paper I sent you is SNMP configuration only. It does not set up alerts by e-mail on WAE.

You must configure individual WAE for e-mail alerts. It is not yet integrated through the Central Manager. The WAE will send individual email alerts, independent SNMP alerts. I am yet to confirm whether or not you should activate the alert SNMP on WAE to make it work.

Added: I just checked you must enable and configure the SNMP settings to make this work.

    Kind regards.

  • Redirect WCCP and Performance hit on 3750

Maybe it's more of a "resizing" qtn more than anything else.

Yesterday, I activated wccp redirect on a stack of distribution has collapsed/3750 of base, in an office with 150users. WAI is model 612.

As soon as the configuration of the redirect has been applied, I found the network slowing significantly and received an event alert CPU of NEM, reports that CPU on 3750 stack exceeds the set threshold (65%). Put the threshold on the one hand, the cli is terribly slow and so I removed immediately redirect to the relevant interfaces. He bought the network back to normal in terms of performance.

Is this a calibration problem or maybe a bad configuration or something else...?

Here is a list of best practices to follow to do forwarding of wccp on hardware platforms such as the 3750.  I found it in the link below.

    http://www.Cisco.com/Web/services/news/ts_newsletter/tech/ChalkTalk/archives/200806.html

The following best practices should be applied to the implementation of WCCP on a hardware platform:

    • L2 transfer
    • Assignment of mask
    • Interception of incoming traffic
    • No ' exclude ip wccp redirect in.

Your configuration "output method negotiated return of interception-method wccp" will appeal to a WCCP GRE tunnel to create of the 3750 to CAI.  All traffic will be then be redirected a software based on this configuration line.

"Game of negotiated return as the method of evacuation. With this specification, the Cisco WAE uses GRE to return traffic redirected to the router intercepting. Note: in this case, WCCP negotiated WCCP GRE return method. »

    Found here: https://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/contnetw/ps5680/ps6870/prod_white_paper0900aecd806d976a_ps6474_Products_White_Paper.html

I'd stick to best practices that Zach has described in the link at the beginning of this post.  It's a very well written on the WCCP redirect article.

    Concerning

  • Problem WCCP or routing

    Hello

We have two centres of data logical LAN even.

Two routers ISP and two WAE 674 and the help of WCCP "evacuation-method negotiated return of interception-method wccp.

    See the attached file.

The problem is when one of the interface WAN 'line' falls down, some of the network is not accessible from the side LAN and some.

We use BGP as routing protocol in the ISP routers.

    Any suggestion for the problem?

    Jan

    Hi Jan,

What is suspect here is the WCCP.

When you configure, it allocates buckets if you use hash assignment. If you use a mask, it calculates the mask according to your destination / source ip address.

Now, what I understand is - if WAN fails, some networks is not accessible.

When LAN goes down, WCCP breaks down and starts running smooth.

    A few questions:

    1. what happens if LAN drops but WAN remains upward? WCCP remains active state / usable?

2 when WAN breaks down and the remains of the LAN upward, your WCCP is still in PLACE and so it continues to transmit packets of same WAN interface but because this interface is down, the packages ultimately die / gets blackholed.

3 another speculation is: asymmetric routing. When WAN is down but LAN is in place, you transfer a portion of the traffic off LAN but as WAN falls down, return packets can arrive on a different interface and creates an asymmetric routing.

To reduce this problem, please enter interface in three stages:

1 WAN - LAN - UP, down, is accessible from router ID?

    2. IN WAN, LAN - down, is accessible router ID?

    3. WAN downwards, towards the low LAN, is the accessible router ID?

    CLI to capture logs:

    2. show ip wccp
3 view the details of interface ip wccp
    4 show ip wccp service
    5 show ip wccp details
    6. specify ip wccp internal (*)
    7 show running-config
    8 show ip wccp hash<61 62="">
    9 sh wccp mask tcp-promised
    10 HS tech

In addition, as you use GRE encapsulation for redirection of WCCP, the router uses the router address IP ID as its IP source address. The router ID IP address is the loopback address higher on the router, or if the loopback interface is not configured, the router ID IP address is the highest address of the physical interfaces. The router address IP ID is used as the source address for redirected packets from the router to the Cisco WAE and accordingly, it is also used as a destination address for the Cisco WAE to the router traffic, therefore, you must be sure that a route is defined between the router Cisco WAE. This is done by configuring a static route on the Cisco WAE to address IP router ID. The router ID can be identified with wccp routers see command on the Cisco WAE.

As in your case, you have multiple routers, a static route must be added to each router IDs. These router command to configure static routes is:

    WAE (config) # ip route
Can you please try above and let us know if it works?
    Kind regards.
  • No interface BVI?

    Hello

    I have a situation with a Waas 574. Software version 4.4.3.
It is my first experience of waas. I reinstalled the flash image and software in the raid drives and now I have a brand new waas. At the end of the installation, I configured the gigabit ethernet 1/0 interface to register with the central Manager. Via the central Manager I have activate the virtual blade choose gigabit ethernet 1/0 as bridge but the configuration result 'partially configured' and I can't start the VB. After some research, I know that I need to create a BVI interface... but I can't do this because CLI I don't have orders to make and through the central Manager, I get the error "Bridge Configurations are not supported on this combination of hardware or software."

    Can anyone explain that?

    TIA!

    Hi TIA,.

Can you confirm if /vbspace partition is created in the drive after the recharge device?

Measures to allow the WAECO for usage of virtual slide.

    (1) in the WAAS Central Manager, choose manage devices.
    (2) click on Edit next to the WAE you configure
    (3) choose administration > license management. License management is displayed. Verify virtual-blade, and then press Submit.
    (4) select Admin > virtualization > General settings. The General settings window opens. Check enable virtualization, then press on submit. You will be asked to confirm that you want to change the General settings and by this operation will cause the WAE to restart.

    (5) the WAE recharges twice. It is necessary to allocate resources to the virtual slide. After recharging, check the WAE is ready to support virtualization using the following two commands of CLI.  Verify that the device of COMMENTS /vbspace exists with the command show disk details and verify that virtual resources blade are available by issuing the command virtual blade to see the.

  • Listen to the actual system image file name?

    All,

When you try to view the file system image on a WAAS unit by entering the command "Show flash" or "dir" I see a list of files, but none of them seems to be the image of the system.  My goal is to see the name of the real image of the entire system file to determine if she is 'Accelerator' or 'universal' as part of the file name, IE. similar to a router or switch.  Is this possible with a WAAS unit?
