WAG160N Firmware

My current firmware version is 1.00.09.  I looked to see if there is a newer version upgrade, but help wonder if my hardware is at version 1 or 2.  I can't find it on the sticker attached to the bottom of the router.  I can establish this is Appendix A, but I don't see a version number of the material.  I noticed that the latest firware for both versions of hardware is different.

Thank you.

Best regards, Scott

OK, I may have a solution here.  After messing around for a few hours last night put totally and completely frustrated after my attempts to update the firmware and causing all my wireless devices to not be able to connect I came to the conclusion that firmware update attempts have not succeeded!  I rang the guys to help tech Lynksys for more help.  In any case after the usual diagnostic process as soon as I mentioned, I got a Mac they said right away that you cannot update the firmware from a Mac!  It will work perfectly with a Mac, but you just can't update the firmware using a Mac.  Not sure if this only affects the WAG160N or other models, but it seems now that I have to borrow the machine window a friends to update the firmware on the router and I'd be back in business.  There you go - I guess it's my fault for daring to be different and which deviates from the crowd of Windows!  In any case, I will update once I have completed this process comes to close this thread.

I am about to download the new firmware. I know that the version number, but how do I know if I should download Annex A or Annex B?

I think it could be written on the router itself.

If you turn inside, you will find the model number of the router and Schedule A or B.

If it is not there then follow this link to check the schedule and the Linksys ADSL gateway model number.

  • Continuous WAG160N dropouts of the internet.

I've owned the annex WAG160N has since a few months now, and it worked perfectly...

But recently, the unit suffers from dropouts to internet every 10-20 minutes of use, with the light RED internet light and "forced" LILY as an indication, and I need to the manual reset the device to restore the connection.

  • How the new firmware of tftp to wag160n?

    Hello

My WAG160N has same problem as described in this post from xellmon

    http://forums.linksysbycisco.com/linksys/board/message?board.id=DSL&thread.id=9859 .

The cancellation of my warranty but new. (void warranty in a storm). Desperately trying to resurrect WAG160n.

    Details of the device

    Annex WAG160N has

    Firmware 1.00.10

Is it possible to new firmware tftp in the unit?

If so, how the new firmware tftp?

what firmware file I need to download?

Download the firmware for Annex WAG160N has... Try this link and check if it works... If this isn't the case, then, you need to replace the router.

  • WAG160N - cannot update firmware de.09

I downloaded the updated firmware (A Anex).15 but no matter what I try, I can't firmware to stick.

    (1) I tried the Firmware Upgrade option via the HTML interface to the router. I select the file (WAG160Nv1-EU-ANNEXA-ETSI-1.00.15-code.img) and click on the upgrade button. It seems to be loading the file in, counting to height of the percentage until it got to 100%, then the screen seems to be messed up. I turn off the router for 30 seconds and then on again, but it remains as version.09. I also tried the reset button for 30 seconds and then turn off now. No diff.

    (2) have also tried the TFTP.exe program without success, because it cannot connect to the server as it is said that there is no reply from her.

I have screenshots if anyone is interested.

I am at a loss. Certainly not a local help available by phone. Must have stuck to DLink - at least you can call.

Does anyone have a similar experience? A way around it?

(And reason for wanting to upgrade est.09 keeps giving up DSL connection and Wireless disappears.)

  • WAG160N without internet connection

Before I throw it I thought it might be useful to post here to see if anyone knows more than me about this problem.

In the meantime, I have another wireless modem of va - working ATM I write/post - isn't all that urgent.

My WAG160N router/modem I bought new 4 or 5 years, died a few weeks - over a period of an hour, or so he started to work very slowly - slowing to 10 or 20 kB / s from the usual sluggish 150ish KB/s that we normally get here.

And then it stopped working altogether - and light stopped coming at all on the Internet.

I pulled out and found 3 or 4 bulging capacitors in (which had burst at its lower end) that I replaced - faced with the horrible HMP weld seems to have been used to join them for the circuit.

But still no Internet light or connection - other (wireless LAN) and DSL unit lights work, it goes through its startup sequence apparently OK and I can access all of its settings in the 192.168.1.1 page - including trying unsuccessfully to connect from one of these pages.

It is interesting to try re-flashing the firmware - 1.00.15 currently? - or replacement of another part of the map will be working again?

All suggestions gratefully - received I couldn't bear to throw a piece of equipment like that without having done everything I could reasonably to operate again.

    TIA

    PaulMW

Well Saffrons7 you were right .

And I was a bit wrong - do not understand that the settings must be correct before he was able to connect on the www.

It was just a matter of re-assignment - and check - all the different parameters (including manual set VPI and VCI) my ISP and bingo!

    He immediately started working again!

So, as you have said - and I got to halfway, iffen I could get to its router pages could not have been too much wrong with him - this is why I was so keen in seeing iffen I could restart. And also to get a little more networking know-how - which I am a little short on!

The replacement of the value 2 or 3bananas caps bulging / burst seems to have been the solution.

I use what I write this - of course - Linux I rarely use winDoze for the internet - as it is said: with winDoze you might as well put all your info on a billboard next to the road. and if you have forgotten your passwords under linux, you might as well format your hard drive.

But the caps curved several have tended to indicate wear cheaper - which may well fool you again at some point in the future - so it's good to have 2 modems now .

    See you soon

    Hello

A few years ago, I have buyed a WAG160N I have ever used, because once I have plug power, it began to restart and reboot loop...

Is there something to do with it, or should I put it in the trash?

    Firmware using is probably Ver.1.00.15

    Any help please?

I have never received no new support from Linksys at the Morocco...

    Thank you

    Cedric

In this case try changing the plug. Try to do 30/30/30 hard reset. The following procedure will clear the NVRAM and set the router back to the default values:

~ ~ With the power on, press and hold the reset button the back of the unit for 30 seconds

~ ~ Without releasing the reset button, unplug the unit and hold reset for 30 seconds

~ ~ Plug it now ALWAYS reset button a final 30 seconds...

After the following procedure to reconfigure the WAG160N. If the problem still persists, then try using a different power of the same specifications adapter.

This is because it is sometimes cached in your browser or Cookies and how your Internet connection is trying to load the Page, it is simply a Bug in the browser Google Chrome and probably will be fixed on a new version of the browser.

Fix this bug in browser, it's easy because it's because of 3 different things.

    * The first thing to try is go into Options and clicking Reset to default values and refresh the Page or F5 shortcut key to refresh the page you are on Google Chrome.

    * The second error 324 is to simply just restart your Chrome browser.

    * Sometimes, it can be your Internet connection, the cause of error when browsing websites in chrome so just restart your Internet connection.

I hope this helps you solve this problem.

  • WAG160N problems. Set up?

HI, I have the Wireless-N ADSL2 + Gateway WAG160N connected to two computers. The computer cable is fine, and this seems to be a great router. However, I have a second PC connected wirelessly with a map of WiFi PCI Edimax EW - 7728 In 802.11n http://www.edimax.co.uk/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=225&pl1_id=1&pl2_id=44 . Initially, wireless has been brilliant, almost as fast as Wired. But now, it seems to have slowed just browsing Internet is very slow. If I go into the router and change the wireless channel speed increases a little but only for a short period of time?

I had a search around the forum here and tried a few suggestions but nothing has worked, I don't really know what I'm doing! Can anyone help?

When I got the router it came with the Wireless - N USB Network WUSB300N adapt, but it never worked!

All drivers are later as is the firmware. After the update, I completely reset the router and manually entered all the settings.

    Thank you

Yes, tried. Not good, I'm afraid.

  • WAG160N exasperating dropouts/reliability

I myself bought a gateway WAG160N after I set up an ADSL service at my home last weekend.

I have install the modem to the letter by the installation fast and installed guide the LELA utility to observe the State of the network. The modem has power, wireless, LAN and Internet LED all green. Only my laptop is connected wireless modem with Vista 32 - bit OS. My network driver is up-to-date.

Recently, I had constant dropouts on the ADSL connection at irregular times. In order to get the internet on the back, I have to turn off the modem and reconnect it and internet * sometimes * will come back on. These just dropouts make sense that the line is good, but the modem just DC and the Green LED for DSL and Internet disappear, mainly the LED of the Internet. I first thought that there was a problem with the ADSL signal goes to the modem, so I made sure that the phone is connected to an in-line filter and the bridge is on the other phone access point. Always lands from time to time. I rang my ISP to determine if they have service problems and run a test on my line. No problem there. At some point the modem stores a red LED on the status of the Internet. I looked into the the User Guide on the CD, but I can't find anything that gives me information if the red LED is on... I would have thought that if there is no connection to the internet and then the light is just off until what means Red? It would be useful that Linksys actually included information about status codes all THE LED in the User Guide as it provides only very little info on the right green LED.

I used the LELA application to diagnose and repair the connection, but I have little success (he has reconnected on one of the many opportunities...). I did a hard reset of the modem so and I tried it while the modem is on. After the reset, I assumed that this would have wiped all of the predefined settings and passwords so I Redid the installation from the CD again and it was back to normal until the resumption of the stall as before. I am a technician in electronics by trade with the Australian army and I had an experience with a lot of facilities do haywire, more more, die from excessive and prolonged heat. I switched the modem turned off again and let it sit for a good 10 minutes, sometimes bring to my air conditioner to cool because he has a certain feeling hot at the top, after he sat for 20 min. The modem will reconnect to the internet successfully several times than not but it probably will go down later. It seems to be helping a little although I believe the problem is mabye not only heat.

Now, I'm trying to update the firmware of the modem because it is on A1.00.09 and I noticed that it est.15 until now. The first thing that confusing is the option of two firmwares (appendices A and B). I have looked around on the forum, but can only find little info that the difference is that one has a target audience for some countries while the other is for the rest of the world? :\

I got stabbed in Appendix B, as it is the only one on the top, generally files are sorted initially with English and then all other languages to the bottom of the list of downloads... anyway I went to download the file. The file is in .zip format, no problem. Then I find out it is a .img file in which the firmware files must be extracted from the. As the laptop I'm trying is the better half, it is not a program to extract a .img file. I downloaded Winzip and proceeded to try and extract it using only to be met with an error indicating that the file cannot be read, perhaps as a result of being corrupt. Appendix A is the same format.

Why o why Linksys is doing this the most galling experience for the customer? This part of the product when I bought it? I missed something on the user guide that says that I would be tested on my problem-solving skills. / end of rant

So I'll try to find another program that can open the file. Can someone please offer assistance to this ridiculous situation I learned at? I have forgotten something.

If the problem continues, I have no worries handing the modem to return to the place where I bought for her. I'm not going to wait for a warranty replacement, as when I buy something that is supposed to probably give me access to wireless internet at just a laptop, I expect to work up, just like it says on the box!

My apologies for the late reply.

Thanks for the help, I looked in your suggestions and I still have a lot of upheaval with the router. I gave up.

I told the store I bought the story and they gave me a full refund so I bought a router competitors. What do you know? It works!

I still get the "once in a blue moon' to disconnect but I blame that on ADSL here Aus infrastructure. Our broadband services world pretty 4th East. Nevertheless, I have no more constant dropouts and the router and the phone work together well.

    Hello

I can't find a page of support for my router (WAG160Nv2), and therefore, no way to get the latest firmware.

I couldn't save the product because he wasn't the availeble product list and there seems to be no way to communicate with any type of technical support.  So I hope someone can help out me.

Update the firmware of wel is probably nog is going to help me with my problem.

I currently use mac addresses to secure my wireless network.

Now, I bought a smartphone with WiFi but when I add its address to the list and try to save the day I get the error that the address cannot be a multicast address.  If anything I can do for my wlan accept my phone?

Wireless MAC address filtering is not a good way to protect your wireless network.

You can enable security wireless WPA/WPA2 on your network. Change the SSID. Disable wireless MAC filtering.

Try to connect to the new wireless network and see if it works.

Follow this link to download the firmware for WAG160N. Make sure you have the correct model number and version number of your router.

  • WAG160N/WUSB300N combo stall problem

    Hello

I have problems with this combination of installation. Most of the time - navigation etc is fine - but when I try to transfer large files (> 50 Mb) by a machine XP SP3 on the SIN of WD MyBook I - I get connection drops.

What is happening is that the connection goes dead. Windows notifies him that connected and reports the packets being sent - but I have no answer. It requires a "repair" of the connection to get it going again. I don't know if it is the router or usb adapter. Can I leave a night connection GB transfer smaller files (e.g. pictures) - but try and transfer a large movie file or something and the connection will be after a few minutes.

-J' pushed upward for the last firmware.12 on the 160N and that solved a lot of questions I had (like DNS dropouts at random points and I can see the MacBook MyBook so Hello works now)- and I use the latest Marvell drivers from Windows Update (1.0.7.3) - but the problem with large files. One thing is driving me to the USB adapter in the place that I go, if does not make a large file transfer and connection, make a crash on the XP machine.

The MyBookWorld is a new purchase and seems to work correctly since the MacBook (also wireless - adapter one airport N - return 130Mo/s, a G airport) in the House - even if we have not tried to transfer a very large file from there. Video was transmitted since the mybook to there without any problems - even if it did not persist beyond a trial period of 1 to 2 minutes.

Now, I'm a little lost. I'm happy to replace items if it will improve the situation - but I have no idea if we replace the 160N or the USB300, or even both! I'm in a pretty crowded network zone - next door channel 1 - permanently on, 2 networks in channel 11 - they go and come - but are no longer on that turned off, 2 networks that appear from time to time to channel 6 and at least one other working down on channel 4 that popped up on the scans near the front of the House. My wireless channels were selected by trial and error to see what works the best!

Some basic configuration information: active WPA2, Wideband (connection 40 Mhz), Channel 6 by default, 8 of the scale. XP SP3 patched to the hilt, the firewall standard XP, MacBook under Leopard - also patched to the hilt. MyBookWorld (2nd edition - with white lights) connected directly to WAG160N. Reported on the USB300N speeds vary from 80 MB/s to 240 MB/s - but tends to settle on 180 MB/s, most of the time.

    Any help is appreciated! TIA!

    Mike

    Hooray... success... sort of!

It looks like a firmware.12 problem.

I pushed the WAG160N back to the firmware.9 and I am able to copy of GB of files without the same paw sffering. Instead, I suffer from a lack of service Hello different dropouts... but I do not have the same drop in volume related.

So I'll copy all the files on the firmware.9... then move a.12 and I hope that linksys will move a.13/.14/.15 which will fix all the issues... before you go out and buy another router.
