I tried several routes to try to reinstall the OS, resulting in many dead ends *. I asked the dealer to help, but did not get much. I burned super fdisk (2 MB) of SFbootablecd.iso and fdisk (40 MB) of fd11src.iso. I went into the BIOS to set the boot order. I put the saved first, CD/DVD-ROM internal drive and tried the two CDs. It always starts with just a screen with this:

  Honestly? If you do want to use partitioning software third the easiest thing is to copy the data you want to keep, and then simply delete all partitions, create those you want, format as you wish. Much faster. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  Hello, I would like to create a decent size on my hard drive partition.  Disk Manager pays 75% of free space on the OS (C :).  But when I start the process of "shrink volume" (to create open space for my new partition), the dialog box shows ONLY 238 MB are available for narrowing of a total 228 112 MB.  I am confused and I would be grateful for any help.

  I just put a 840 EVO 250 GB Samsung in a HP Envy m6. Without checking, I am almost sure that your machine supports SATA III, no new laptops will not have that. Even if he has not a SATA SSD will work with SATA or SATA II even I have.

While this seems like a lot, keep in mind that you can pass on to your next laptop, a desktop computer, or purchase a chassis and use it as an external USB drive in the future.

  If you have a recovery disk and you do not want to store the folder in hard drive hard disk recovery, you can remove it.

  The Toshiba Recovery CD contains not only the operating system, but also different applications, driver and utilities. The whole software needs space on the HARD drive and 7 GB is nothing unusual.

  If you want to create multiple partitions on your HARD disk, you do not need to format all of the C drive but you could use a 3rd party software like Partition Magic 8 to create partitions
  This tool is awesome, you can control and manage the partitions very easy.

  D: is not a partition backup of your machine.

  Acer has a time set up their machines to the way yours is:

  They had a C: drive for the operating system, a drive D: for data (music, movies, etc you would like to register and a recovery partition 'hidden' to reinstall the operating system and to make the recovery discs to do the same thing.)

  You can merge C: and D: as a whole, BUT save all data on D: first because it will be deleted when you merge.

  The hidden restore Partition Lenovo is a protected partition, then you will not be able to remove it through disk management as you would with any other normal partition. You can use Diskpart. It is better if you remove the first hidden restore Partition, then cross with a clean install using one of the many guides available on this forum.

  Step 1.
  Burn recovery media. Type "Recovery media" (without the quotes) in the search in the Start Menu. Open the application and follow the instructions.

  Step 2.
  Open the application by typing Diskpart either 'Diskpart' (without the quotes) in the search, or type "Diskpart.exe" in run by pressing Windows key + R.

  II. Type in "select disk 0" and press ENTER.

  In modern devices, there is a kind of 'barrier, limit' to the more than 2 TB HDD storage.

  Your WD 3 TB Red must be initialized using the table to partition GUID (GPT). This system supports the full storage capacity. That I can see, your motherboard supports the UEFI BIOS (which is a necessity). If it didn't, you wouldn't be able to initialize your disk to GPT and format the entire 3 TB of disk capacity.

  Here is a link that could really help you. There are definitions and explanation of your problem, then the "overall requirements for a no bootable volume of data" and 'Global requirements for a bootable system volume', you should read if you want that your HARD drive is bootable or not.

  You can find how to initialize your disc under the title 'How to initialize a disk of data with the help of TPG'. Then you can freely to partition and format your Red WD and he should have distributed the entire capacity of 3 TB.
