WAP610N wireless

I've just set up a WAP610N with WRT610N router.  The router has been used for 6 months, no real problems.  I'm trying to get better coverage on the floor, so the AP.  I finished the installation program and thought I was ready to go.  When I try to go said that Network Magic wireless, the AP is in offline mode.  The AP shows the LED illuminated wireless.

I'm missing something obvious, I believe.  I have upgraded the firmware AP; router is up-to-date.

Suggestions in how to get the AP online using wireless.

Yes, you can go for WAP4410N because it supports Repeater mode.

    Hi all

Is it possible to display the devices connected on the WAP610N?

  • Connect three routers?

Hello.  In the past, using all other brand routers, I could connect several wireless routers using the second router as access point. I would like to do with the WRT400N or the WRT610N. I'm looking to connect the three, in essence, in series, so that the first feeding of the second and the second feeds the third, and all three provide internet access. The second is about 150, maybe 200 feet away, while the third is another 150 feet or so, in addition, each in a different building.  I'd be willing to go with two Access Points wireless off the first wireless router, but I can't find those supporting simultaneous dual band. The simultaneous dual-band, as well as hook to strictly wireless, is the key here.  Any suggestion anyway would be a great help. The rigid cable wiring could be an option if we waited until the spring, but the ground is frozen too now to consider doing that, and now we need a solution. I watch WAP610N Wireless Access Point, but he has dual band, but it is reversible; It will not do both simultaneously. Can anyone help, or make a suggestion? Devices must remain in the $200 or less vary.   Thank you!  Chuck

Well it is not possible to do the work of router Linksys as an Access Point using a Linksys Firmware on it. If you wish to do this, then you need to install a 3rd party firmware on your Linksys router, you can try to DD - WRT firmware which has a function to make your router work as a wireless access point.

Make sure that the DD - WRT firmware supports your router. Make sure you download the right Firmware for your router and follow the right direction to upgrade the firmware of your router.

NOTE: If you try to update 3rd party firmware on your router, they could void the warranty on your router.

  • WAP610N like Wireless Range Expander

I have a WAP610N I would use as an extension of range on an existing wireless network.  I want to be able to move seamlessly around the House and the yard, using my router and WAP without getting disonnected.  The WAP610N can be configured to operate in this way?  Any special about parameters?

    THX!

the basic parameters of the wireless router wireless must match the settings on the AP basic wireless.

  • Access point or wireless router

I'm looking for thoughts, opinions, facts, etc. on the best way to set up my home network. The House is relatively new and I cat5 wiring in most of the rooms with home runs to a structured in the basement wiring box. Have nearly 16 shots here. I have currently a linksys BEFSR81 router/switch, hubs, one couple and a Comcast cable modem there. On the second floor, is a wireless linksys WAP610N access, connected on one of the tracks cat5 in the basement. For customers, I have four wired pc which is a music server, couple Blu ray drives, three iPhones, iPad and an iTouch. The House is on two floors with a finished basement, ~ 5 000 total FT2 and construction wood. Right now, my wireless is uneven with him sometimes abandon no explainable reason (Wired is very well in those moments) and connect devices new wireless takes several minutes where it shows a signal but will not connect to Internet. I have read many bad reviews on the WAP610 and wonder if it's my problem. My son says I should get a wireless router with a separate switch to manage 16 wired ports and empty the WAP and BEFSR81. I have a great aversion to turn a unit of wireless streaming in a basement being the lowest part of the House. I move the cable modem and a new wireless router upstairs on the first floor and then run a return line to the basement for the 16 switch ports? Or just get a better/other WAP?

How would implement you? Sorry for the lengthy post.

If you do not have problems with the WAP610N you can of course use. You could start to buy only one additional access or wireless router and see how it plays along.

Concerning the choice of the E-series router, it depends on what you need. The WAP610N is a router dual-band which has a radio 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz radio. If you want to keep the simultaneous dual band radios the cheapest option would be the E2500. There only the ethernet 10/100 ports.

If you don't want the dual band, the E1x00 could do. But remember, those who only works on the 2.4 GHz band and depending on where you live, you can already see a lot of other people with 2.4 GHz band routers, so you will have a lot of interference on the 2.4 GHz band...

Of course, dual-band single-band vs depends also if you still have the 5 GHz band devices, or plan to get one.

  • WAP610N - can't get a network IP address

Hello! I bought a Linksys WAP610N today, I placed it so I can get a signal where I can't normally.

The thing is I have it configured properly, well at least I think, I can see it on my network wireless, with a good signal, but on my Tablet Android (Google Nexus 7), may not go beyond the "getting IP address."

I called technical support, the person he has tried to help me for about 1 hour, we have tried different settings, we have updated firmware 1.0.01 to 1.0.04)is, but it did not help. Now, he said that someone will call me tomorrow in the afternoon. But then I thought I would post this problem here so maybe I could fix my problem more quickly.

My router is not Linksys, this is a Netgear, I don't have wireless problem when I connect my tablets or other device without thread on this, it's just that I bought this WAP610N to get the signal in my room, where I get no signal normally.

If anyone can help me with this before they call me, or maybe I could not even find a better solution here on this community.

I needed a device that get me more of my router wireless signal coverage, without having to fix it permanently with a cable.

This access point is going to do a wired router wireless or can upgrade your old router's wireless technology. Thing is, it must be connected via the Ethernet port. If you want something that could repeat the signal from your router, unless it is connected via ethernet, you need an amplifier. I recommend that you get a RE1000.

  • Need to improve the wireless home network

I am trying to improve the coverage of my home network.

I have Fios, and with existing wireless features, there are several dead and weak coverage areas in my house.  This is due to a combination of the place where my router's (limited by the power input) and the confuration from home.

I have CAT - 5 running for most of the rooms, so adding wired devices is not a problem.  I went out and picked up an EA4500 router, and my plan was to convert my Fios router a bridge and then use the EA4500 as the DHCP server.  However, even with this router, my coverage is not improved.  My preferred solution to get 1 or 2 additional access points that I can plug into my cable system, however, I would like to have a common SSID for the network.

    Is a home-based solution available?

It would be probably better get these access points that you plan to learn to eliminate these "notspots".

as suggested previously, you can get a WAP610N or one of the new series of EA (set to bridge mode) router.

  • WAG160N Wireless Lan

Not very irritable with it - I will try to explain the existing facility and the requirements in the simplest possible

    current configuration:

each wall jack in my (dorm) room has an ethernet jack that I connect to my laptop and wait the connection to the local network is connected and my internet works. No installation, nothing... Vista simply connects and I'm good to go

... have to make it wireless.

Was explained to the guy at the shop, he told me that the WAG160N is perfect - spent hours reading the manual and the CD loading, understands nothing.

at the moment I have the ethernet cable from the wall connected to the WAG160N (port 1) and another cable on port 2 connected to my laptop... WATS next?

can someone please explain this to me? the required configuration is possible?

    Thank you!

any product specific Cisco/Linksys or a model?

get one of the access point (only) products.

I think that one of the new are WAP610N, but none of the access points will do, as the WAP54G , they are probably on sale.

Just stay away from those that says router/access point, like the wrt54g. You can configure them as access point, but for simplicity just get the access point.

It is usually plug-and-play, with the access point for your network.

  • Wi - Fi protected setup with WRT160Nv2 WAP610N

    Hello

What I want to do is extend my network wireless wireless using this access point. I should be able to press the "Wi - Fi Protected Setup" button on both devices to do this, but this doesn't seem to work...

Also, I want to connect my router and wireless n access point but the point of access to customers to be G and N.

    # It is not possible. As I mentioned WAP610N isn't a function that connects to a wireless router or connection.

Dual band access point means that any computer with the adapter Wireless 2.4 Ghz or 5 GHz will be able to connect to it. You need a router or access with Repeater function point or an Expander to expand your wireless network.

  • WAP610N Mixed Mode

I have a Palm TX (Wireless-B) and an iPod Touch (up to Wireless-N). I thought I should be able to run the WAP610N in mixed mode with Palm using B and iPod using G.

Unfortunately the Palm does not even detect the WAP under the 'mixed' and I had set the WAP for "Wireless-B Only. The iPod detects it to two parameters.

Is there something I can do?

If you use Palm TX, which supports only (mode B) then I don't think it should work if you set the higher security on the router.

  • Failed update Firmware of WAP610N

    Hello

I installed the WAP610N in addition to my existing WLAN router to improve the speed and quality

to connect an IPTV device through the ethernet WET610N bridge.

In principle, everything worked well, but sometimes the video stream paused and I wanted to optimize

    the two devices wireless setting.

The WMM within the WET610N was set to video mode.

But I could not change the setting of WMM in the WAP610N.

So, I read messages about problems problem of parameters of WMM by opting for the new firmware version 94 and has decided to do.

Unfortunately, this update was interrupted and I'm not able to reach the WAP610N by IP / web administration.

I already changed the settings of the LAN card to resolve IP 192.168.1.3 with 255.255.255.0 subnet to access the access point.

    Did not work.

I scanned my network with netscan to find the ip address of the access point. No results.

In my view the access point does not work correctly. The power lights and the ethernet are blue (= no fault).

A reset (> 35 s) and procedures again mentioned above are without results.

Is it possible to install a firmware without administration web page?

    Kind regards

    Michael

I contacted Cisco support and got a RMA

  • The WAP610N is necessary?

I recently installed a WRT610N router on my network to replace my old router.  The WAP610N Access Point is really necessary?  Both devices are about 30 feet on the other and on the 1st and 2nd floor of my house.  The WRT610N is enough for a good strong signal throughout my house?

WRT610N is a dual band wireless router, you do not need the AP. WAP610N the router will be able to provide the signals wireless computers in the other room.

  • WAP610N Port Ethernet speed

What is the speed of the Ethernet port that connects the WAP610N to the local network. Why is it not mentioned on the box or the manuals? I guess it would be 1 GB because what is the meaning of facilitate a 802.11n wireless network when the speed of the connection to the cable network is anything but 1 Gb, I am mistaken?

The speed of the Ethernet port is 10 / 100 Mbps.

  • Cascade 2 WRT300N and have both sends a wireless signal

I searched the forums, discover different cascading routers and posed this question in a different way, but I don't know if I'll be able to use a 2nd WRT300N in order to broadcast a wireless signal if I connect it to my 1st WRT300N. Routers will be connected with about 50 ft 5 cat. Is this possible? I connect the ethernet port to the port ethernet or go eithernet port 1 to the WLAN port on 2? Any help would be appreciated.

    1. you're not technically a wireless router but only one wireless access point. A WAP610N or similar would be the better choice in this case.

    2. you can use a router as a simple access point and ethernet switch. Change the address LAN IP of the second WRT to 192.168.1.2 192.168.1.1. Disable the DHCP server on the second WRT. Then, connect the two LAN - LAN. Do not use the internet port of the second WRT!
