Wasted space BLOB

I just read the following article by part 2: Oracle SecureFile LOB is better than BasicFile, is not?-Jakub Wartak blog he shows an example

space wasted.

My question is how can it be prevented and or corrected? It seems that all data should be "online"? Detailed examples would be appreciated

Thanks in advance to all those who respond

Whatever it is:

> BOX WHEN DBMS_LOB. GETLENGTH (Payload) > 3964 THEN 'Out-of-line' ELSE 'Inline' END

say you?

If the LOB is about 4K or greater out-of-line.  Period.

Between headers video track and Audio track headers, there is a slightly larger space. When you place your cursor on it, it will change to a line with arrows up/down.

Once the cursor changes shape, click down and drag the line to the top. Who will position the content of the above script, filling the space that is empty now and allowing you to scroll to reveal several audio tracks.

  • Insert adds wasting space

    11.2.0.4

Having a process that inserts only adds to a partitioned table.  partitioned on one id.   Table is updated only through these pads or a drop of partition on the code.

IM moving the table to re - organize the partitions and I noticed that a table of 80 GB went down to below 40 GB.  It tell me something is a waste of space, very probably append it it inserts in the blocks above the HWM then unused space in the highest block custom used.   (my understanding of what is open to correction)

OK, we can reclaim the space with a few movements of table but Is there a way that we can organize the tables structures so append it does not waste so much space in the future?  I have other tables much larger that Im getting little time that is affected.

    Thank you.

Its many small inserts Randalf, I missed frank question earlier.

2 points of this note, I see almost 50% of loss using direct insertion.  As the data are ONLY loaded via insertion directly, then more than likely that this explanation of this note explains pretty well, Im not ignoring that has been said here in any case, just the numbers put to him.   However, we use DOP on platelets so maybe a part/all this is true.   Once we are aware of what we can plan a regular maintenance

But you seem to be using variable extent sizes, not UNIFORM, so the example of the note applies only partially. So if it's really "many small inserts", then it is a problem. If your only reason to use the APPEND made use of compression of base, maybe there's a way you can increase the size of the "lot" of your small inserts to make a more efficient operation. Other than that it would be an ideal case for Advanced Compression, but it must be licensed separately. In this way, you would end up with a comparable compression ratio but could still use conventional inserts.

Without Advanced Compression you might think about a different strategy, depending on how the partitions being used inserts:

    -Switch to conventional inserts

-Install a regular job that performs a COMPRESS to MOVE on not yet compressed partitions (or modified in a certain extent be candidate for re-compression)

  • HOW can I remove my Bookmarks Toolbar Firefox's "Getting Started" link? It wastes space and seems invulnerable to the attempted abductions.

From the outset, I am on a MacBook Air, running Yosemite & the most recent Firefox Help. If your only interest in my question is for bash Macs, then (yawn) I'm not interested. If your interest is to help sincerely, then you have my interest as well:

I'm stuck with a "Getting Started" Firefox link as the first 'signet' (left) on my bookmarks bar, I really want to delete: I was in the Apple computers (from the Apple] [e) & online since the mid-80s, so I'm hardly a naif in the digital world or Firefox newbie , so having a "Getting Started" link to life is ridiculous, AND I really need the space to accommodate MY choice! Then...

I tried all ways recommended to delete unwanted bookmarks - Firefox, BUT when I pull down the "Show all bookmarks" command of bookmarks in the Menu bar, there is NO such thing as the "Getting Started" link, so I can't delete it there. I've even linked by clicking and dragging it out of the toolbar, but it does not (nor made more by dragging to the trash. Then, someone has idea of this insurgent link?

    You can try this?

    1. Open the Bookmarks Manager. In what is the Apple menu icon or the menu bar, click bookmarks > show all bookmarks.
    2. In the search bar search Favorites, type getting started.
    3. Delete the bookmark that opens.
  • Customization of the toolbar to remove the wasted space.

I like a minimalistic toolbar with only two rows of small icons. After the last row with the Google toolbar, it has about an inch of white space before the tabs in the browser. I would prefer to have more space for Web pages.

I tried to drag and drop and moving things around and it don't work. I think that FF has a minimum height constraint and doesn't let me do the slimmer toolbar. Is this true?

No, there is no minimum height constraint. I have no problem reducing visible to a toolbar user interface. Your problem may be with the Google toolbar.

  • Previously, hide the menu bar Firefox put the band tabs next to the Firefox button orange, removing the title bar of the waste space as well. 6.02 the tabs band remains distinct from the title bar. How is - a workaround?

  • Xperia calendar widget wastes space

I love the Xperia (12.0.A.0.18) calendar and think that its user interface is superior to the Google Calendar application. However, I don't like the Xperia calendar widget. I like to have a nice and compact 2 x 2 calendar widget on my screen home - it works very well with Google Calendar and allows me to easily see upcoming events, but with the calendar widget Xperia resized to 2 x 2, too much information becomes truncated to make it useful.

Maybe Sony could provide us with a range of calendar widgets to enhance the functionality of widget in small sizes? I'm not a fan of white color is and prefer transparency (I also prefer the look of the old Google Calendar widget before they changed the bar at the top of the gray to blue, but I also think that this bar with the current date is quite useless I use a separate date and time the widget. Allowing customization would be best)

OK, forget Sony. At the game store, I just find a 3rd party open calendar widget source simply called 'Calendar Widget' to '+ 1 labs' that does what I want and is extremely customizable. Maybe you could even incorporate it it's open source!

  • Can update us our application signed without wasting space in the queue for PlayBook for free?

My apologies if this question has been answered AFTER March 31, but I never saw comments on the process from before then.  I submitted my application on 30 March and received the email saying that it has been accepted and is pending for approval testing.  I continued to improve and correct the problems with the app now to the point where it has many more features/functions and is more likely to 'sell' as a free app but I heard diddly since getting the email.  When I go on the portal of the app, I see that my application is still in a State of "Waiting on Test House.   I really want to present a new version, but hesitate to do so if he disqualify me.

I save the project at the time so, theoretically, I could go back to this version and the correction of a specific bug if they ask me to do, but I really would prefer they are looking at the latest version.  A word on whether we can do that?  Without a doubt?  Thank you.

For sure, you won't lose your place. They will examine however still the first version before they review the new version. Personally, I would say the new version in the hope they approve them both at the same time (preferably before the launch).

  • Compacting files: I get the message, "not enough disk space.

Compaction stops, a message on "not enough disk space. I tried to delete the .msf file and also delete "inbox." Nothing works.

The kind of details that really your search does not exist. Once I looked for something similar and some of these topics, I'm still trying to learn more.

But I can offer some advice.

IMAP. Words like Subscribe riffle and quota, inherent to the IMAP protocol and are not terms that you will find are defined in Thunderbird, or he has documentation. They are defined terms in the IMAP protocol, see RFC 3501

Their isn't a such thing as a remote folder, but IMAP is synchronized. essentially local copies of the mail are a cache to speed up performance, although there are options for do not keep local copies. My experience is that it's slow. I'm assuming that IMAP, it is that what you call remote folders.

Size limits on technical terms are difficult. Historically, Thunderbird has a limit of 4 GB per file. This has been deleted way back to IMAP. local POP e-mail accounts and local folder still have the limit, or at least bug if you exceed the limit. Whenever the developers think they killed the bugs, another arises.

What files are compacted. Why all of them! Compaction has a dual purpose. In IMAP account it purge deleted mail from the server (a permanent deletion) locally the large amounts of wasted space are compacted to recover used space again by mail folders as being deleted. The physical elimination of the deleted mail only occurs during compact.

Remove folder is as simple as right clicking them and selecting Remove. Some special folders and the local folders account space simply cannot be deleted.

There is a manual here http://en.flossmanuals.net/Thunderbird/ but I do not think that it deals with the issues you have raised.

  • Mobile library did not free disk space

I got my Macbook GB 512 Pro flew a few weeks back and I bought a MacMini I have another laptop.

The MacMini is only a 250G SSD and its already full.

I have storage iCloud but everything still seems to want to live on my SSD.

I moved the photo library (30G) of the SSD to a USB attached (formatted OSX extended) and naively expected to free up space when I deleted the original PL and emptied the Recycle Bin after you did.

Unfortunately there were no releasing 30 g at all and I still have the same problem.

My SSD Mac was / is also showing 20G of movies, all deleted or left the trashed SSD (and empty) - all this without release all space.

I am unable to save or update my iPad Pro due to lack of space (about 10 G of free disk SSD) - The MacMini tells me that there is not enough space on the SSD drive.

I is turned off and turned back on iCloud Photos and fact will restart but not luck. All my photos are safe in iCloud, so I don't really know what I have to do to free up space.

Someone at - it ideas or experience similar issues?

    Thank you

For the other category in the display of information storage, see this support article. If the display appears to be inaccurate, try to rebuild the Spotlight index of the boot volume ("Macintosh HD", unless you have given it a different name.)

Empty the trash if you don't have it already done. If you use iPhoto, emptying his trash internal everything first:

    ▹ iPhoto empty the trash

    In pictures:

▹ Show of the recently deleted ▹ file delete all

Do the same thing in other applications like Aperture, with an internal feature of the trash. Then, restart the computer. Temporarily, which will free up space.

According to the documentation from Apple, you need at least 9 GB of free space on the boot volume (as shown in the Infolog) for normal operation, not the mythical 10%, 15% or any percentage. You also need enough space to allow the growth of the data over. There is little or no advantage in terms of performance to get more free space than the minimum Apple recommends. Storage space you'll never use is wasted space.

See this support article for some easy ways to free up storage space. A common waste of space is old backups iTunes to mobile devices. As shown in this support article, select the devices tab in the iTunes preferences window, select the backup that you want to remove and click on delete the backups. Keep at least a backup of each device you use yet.

You can, if you wish, use a tool such OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and discover what is take up space. You can also delete files with it, but not unless you don't know you know what you remove and that all data is stored safely. This means that you have several backups, not one. Note that the ODS only works with OS X 10.8 ("Mountain Lion") and later versions.

IMPORTANT: This comment is neither a recommendation nor an endorsement of any third party software. You should always do your own research to determine if the unknown software is safe and useful. Don't take the word of anyone, including mine.

Deletion of files inside a photo library or iTunes will damage the library. Such a library should be changed within the application that created it. It is the same for e-mail files.

Go further than if the problem is not resolved by the steps above.

ODS cannot see the whole file system when you run simply by double-clicking; He sees only the files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you must run it as root.

Back up all the data now.

Install the application in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it runs.

Triple-click any where in the text line below on this page to select, then copy the selected text in the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination.

    security execute-with-privileges /A*/OmniDiskSweeper.app/*/M*/* 2>&-

Launch the Terminal application integrated in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

Paste in the Terminal window by pressing command + V. You will be asked for your login password.

The application window opens behind other open windows. When you scan a volume, the window will finally show all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.

I do not recommend that you make a habit of doing. Do not delete anything as root. If something should be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then remove by safer alternatives. If in doubt, leave it alone or ask for advice.

When you are finished with the app, he quit and also to leave Terminal.

  • iCloud Drive - save the storage space on Mac

is it possible to save space on my iMac with iCloud drive? For example, if I wanted to save all my pictures on iCloud drive but do not waste space on my mac hard drive, is this possible? I can have not only in cloud storage and not my Mac? I see no point to buy loads of space on iCloud and your iMac will not be able to accommodate it.

    Well this isn't

I can't defragment my disk hard because I need 15% free space and have only 12%.  It is a Dell Dimension 2300, aged about 10 years.  I run Disk Cleanup and delete everything I can think and moved large files on an external hard drive. Outlook Express is another source of wasted space.

You must empty the deleted items folder. Right click on the deleted items folder, and then select "empty folder deleted items.

Records of your Inbox and sent items should be used to store messages for a short period. Large system files are prone to corruption, and then you lose messages. It is much safer to keep themessages in a created Local user folder.

Your box of reception and sent items folders hold only messages waiting
moving up to you to move. Have not all subfolders of the
Inbox. In Outlook Express, move the cursor over the local folders and select
File, folder, New and name your new folder AASent. Move all messages
your items sent to the folder AASent folder. Repeat if you have
created subfolders of the sent items folder.

You can control the process of compaction by at a time that suits
    until the account reaches 100.

In Outlook Express, place the cursor on the local folders and select the file
Work offline followed by file, folder, Compact everything. Do not try to

After compaction check your Outlook Express folders are properly

Also select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools disk
Cleaning, more Options, System Restore and delete all the but later
System restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Compaction could earn a good amount of disk space.

A parameter that might be useless by default is that for temporary internet
files, especially if you keep no copies on the disk offline. The
default allocation is 3% of the walk. Depending on your attitude offline
you could bring this to 1% or 2% of the copies. In Internet Explorer, select
Tools, Internet Options, general, temporary Internet files, settings for
make the change. At the same time, look at the number of days is the story
    held.

The default allocation for the basket is 10% of the disk. Implement
5%, which should be sufficient. In Windows Explorer, move the cursor
on your Recycle Bin, right click and select Properties, Global and
Move the slider from 10% to 5%. However, try to avoid leaving to
too full as if it is full and you delete a file by mistake, it will be
bypass the Recycle Bin and have gone forever.

If your drive is formatted as NTFS another potential gain arises with
your operating system on your C drive. In the Windows directory of
your C partition you'll have some uninstall files in your windows

folder in general: $NtServicePackUninstall$ and $NtUninstallKB282010$
etc. These files can be compressed or not compressed. If compressed
the text of the name of the folder appears in blue. If it isn't
compressed, you can compress them. Right-click on each file and
Select properties, general, advanced, and check the box before you compress
contents to save disk space. On the general tab, you can see the amount
acquired by deducting the size on disk size. Folder
compression is only an option on an NTFS formatted disk partition / partition.

Select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools
Information, tools, Dr. Watson and make sure that the check box in front of "Append to."
existing log"is NOT checked. In other words, the next time the newspaper is
writing it will overwrite rather than adding to the existing file.

When you have completed these tasks, please post a new report from Defragmenter.
