After a new installation of Windows 7 Home Premium, and then download the required drivers from the Toshiba support site there are problems with the DVD drive in my laptop.

I downloaded the app Toshiba DVD Player, which auto detects what version you need. After the application is running, I get the message "no installation Toshiba DVD could be found! You can only update a version already installed. »

How can I get the DVD player to be recognized, if the application will be installed. Currently the DVD player will not play DVD - that will be a problem for my daughter who use the laptop.

The driver Windows 7 page mentions too, updates will be available via Toshiba Service Station, but does provide no link. A search in the Web from Toshiba site fails to locate, where can I get this utility of?

What you have found on the Toshiba download page, it's just the update and not full version.

    Hello

Windows 8 does not have something like Windows Media Player integrated, but at this stage you can get a key for this free, the key will activate "Windows Media Center" for you:

Some time before, I bought Cineplayer codec for Windows XP and Windows Media Player ver11.  Then I could watch DVDs on my laptop without problem.  Suddenly, for some reason, now I get only audio, but no video what so ever.  I haved tried several different DVDs with the same results.  I restarted the computer, with the same results-> audio OK but no video.  Any suggestions to solve are most appreciated! Thank you!

    Hi Caryl B.

Uninstall and reinstall the codec on your computer and check if it helps.
    To uninstall, see:

Download and install the codec again and check.

  • Windows Media Player shows suddenly "not responding" it does not open

My Windows Media Player is fine and dany until a week ago and then I tried to open it and he was "unresponsive".  I rebooted a zillion times, I did a virus scan, scan for spy ware, has checked a drive, run scandisk, has done a defrag, disk clean up, use my registry cleaner and fixer, restore my computer to an earlier date, re-registration of files such as regsvr32 wmp.dll, uninstalled a plug-in Foxfire WMP and almost everything that appeared in an internet search as a remedy as possible and still it does not work.

In the old days you can uninstall and reinstall the software non-functional, but not with Windows Media Player.  So where can I look to find the source of the problem or to find a solution so that it could respond?  If I double click on a music file on my computer that it will play in Windows Media Player, but once there I can not open the library or click on the tabs as it will then show "not responding".  Please, someone must have an answer that can help.

    I use Vista 64.

    An InPlace upgrade might work:

You can try an In-Place Upgrade (hopefully save programs and data) or a repair installation (if all goes well
saves the data, and you need to reinstall the programs). Be sure to do a good backup or three.

You can use another DVD that are not protected but you will need to copy you have the product key.

    Hello

    ·          Were there any changes made to your computer before this problem?

    ·          The other CD/DVD to get recognized by the CD/DVD drive?

Reinstall and update the DVD playback software. Visit the Web site of the software vendor for more information about the update of the software to the latest version.

  • Why not Windows Media Player 11 does not recognize w4a files in the library list more.

I have Windows XP Pro (SP3) with Windows Media Player 11. I had a virus wipe my hard drive (everything has been updated) and after reinstalling and updating everything, it no longer recognizes the w4a files, but it automatically plays them the OMP 11 if I click on the file in Windows Explorer.

Before the accident, all the files on my computer w4a was included in the library. Now the entire albums, as well as individual songs are missing. In fact, now NO w4a file is listed. So my question is, why does Windows Media Player 11 recognize the w4a files?

    Hello

Method 1: I suggest you try the steps from the link below and check if it helps.

    a. close Windows Media Player.
    b. find the file of database on the computer that contains the entries of your library. In general, the library database file (CurrentDatabase_219.wmdb) is located in the following directory:
    (Drive :) Users/xxx(the user name)/Appdata/local/Microsoft/Media Player
    c. right click on the file and then click Rename.
    d. rename the file by changing its file .bak extension.
    e. start the player. When you do so, a new database of library file is created.
    f. press F3 on your keyboard to open the add to Library dialog box search for computers.
    g. click the Browse button to search for a folder on your computer that contains digital media files. Specify the location of the folder in the box look in.
    h. click on the search button.
The player will search for digital media files and playlists in the folder you specify and add to your library. If you have your files and playlists stored in different folders on your computer, you may need to search for files several times, by specifying a different folder every time.

    Method 2:
You may need to rebuild the database of Windows Media Player.
    Here's how:
To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:
    a. exit Windows Media Player.
    b. Click Start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click OK.
    c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.
Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.
    d. restart Windows Media Player.
Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video.

My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video. When you try to play the video (usually an avi file) I get audio and visualization. I tried to uninstall and install new, but does not. I chose also to all types of files media player by default but video still does not play.

An avi file is simply a container that may have different types of files in it for video and audio.

You probably don't have the correct Codec to play the video.

Either download a codec pack such as K-lite or download a little program called G-spot, open it and drag your avi file in the center of the small window of G-spot.

It will then tell you what Codec uses the avi file. You can then Google that particulat Codec, download and install it.

    See you soon,.

  • When I copy a CD in Windows Media Player 11 does not apply media information.

With the XP sp3 operating system, I rip the CD purchased and Windows Media Player 11 does not apply media information. Either he gives and error saying that it cannot be done because I am not connected to the internet while I'm connected, or it can recognize my internet connection, but I have to do a manual search and manually apply the name of each track, even if they are present and order under each line I have to click to match the name of the correct track.

It's so frustrating to have to fight manually for applied information on the media which is clearly presented, and after all, album art that shows correctly in the finder info media constantly refuses to fill in the library and I have to go to a separate Web site and copy and paste it in. Yes, he found elsewhere on the internet, with the help of the connection which was present all along!

It's crazy, the info is already there! And why do I go online in any case the info is in the CD? This doesn't seem to be a problem with the previous players. Please provide a fix for this useless, frustrating dinosaur, waste of time, a process!

Have you tried to delete temporary Internet files and the Cookies in Internet Explorer?

If you temporarily disable your firewall software, which helps? This could be a third-party firewall, like Symantec, or the built-in Windows Firewall.
