Windows Media Player shows suddenly "not responding" it does not open

My Windows Media Player is fine and dany until a week ago and then I tried to open it and he was "unresponsive".  I rebooted a zillion times, I did a virus scan, scan for spy ware, has checked a drive, run scandisk, has done a defrag, disk clean up, use my registry cleaner and fixer, restore my computer to an earlier date, re-registration of files such as regsvr32 wmp.dll, uninstalled a plug-in Foxfire WMP and almost everything that appeared in an internet search as a remedy as possible and still it does not work.

In the old days you can uninstall and reinstall the software non-functional, but not with Windows Media Player.  So where can I look to find the source of the problem or to find a solution so that it could respond?  If I double click on a music file on my computer that it will play in Windows Media Player, but once there I can not open the library or click on the tabs as it will then show "not responding".  Please, someone must have an answer that can help.

I use Vista 64.

Hello

Do this to reregister the Jscript.dll and Vbscript.dll files.

Start - type in the search box - find command top - RIGHT CLICK – RUN AS ADMIN

type or copy and paste-> regsvr32 jscript.dll
Press enter

type or copy and paste-> regsvr32 vbscript.dll

Restart and if all goes well, it will run now.

An InPlace upgrade might work:

You can try an In-Place Upgrade (hopefully save programs and data) or a repair installation (if all goes well
saves the data, and you need to reinstall the programs). Be sure to do a good backup or three.

You can use another DVD that are not protected but you will need to copy you have the product key.

Excuse me, I know that I posted earlier but I accidentally hit the wrong button and it says has answered my question and it was not. I had a virus on my computer and it was cleaned professionally. Now my windows media player will not open. He also will not play a cd/dvd or existing music files on my computer. The icon appears on the screen, but nothing happens when I try to open it. I can't do a system restore because there is nothing to restore, my computer was completely wiped out. Someone suggested this below "Disable media features" reboot and then turn on again. I tried already with no luck. I'm also totally updated everything I could find to put on my computer up-to-date.

    1. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.

I was afraid of that - "Configuration parameters can be set wrongly."

On google, there are a few reports of this error message and I couldn't find any that it is resolved. I hope that someone else will be "the chip" with a solution. I'm sorry.

There are some media player FixIt who might want to try (I have not had your specific problem and Ive not run the FixIt so can't say for sure).

You can try things like a SFC/scannow , that can help, but I doubt it. I guess it depends on what the virus.

You could check that the virus is actually went in downloading, installing, free update (update in the Admin) and running a scan with Malwarebytes , but if it was 'cleaned professionally"should be deleted. But unfortunately things that his attack can still be altered.

You could try a test, to create a new user account 'test' and the connection through that to see if WMP works from this account. for example, it can be your user profile that has been damaged. If this account works WMP then migrate your data everywhere...

If all goes well, a WMP expert will come to the rescue.

  • Windows Media Player shows the library ghost

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. I deleted everything in my music library, but Windows Media Player shows that I have several albums there. When I try to play songs, WMP says that they aren't there. When I try to delete them, nothing happens.

Something seems to have gotten corrupted, but I have no idea how to solve this problem.

You can erase the Media Player library altogether by the removal of the database

    Output Media Player

Run services.msc and stop the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service

In the box start the search menu, enter %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft , and delete the folder Media Player.

Open Windows Media Player and it will recreate the database from scratch, so you will get the computer search for media files dialogue.

  • Windows Media Player 12 is not saving the changes I'm making

I have entered my options library and made sure to select only to add missing information so nothing is not be replaced and yet I change information on some songs and it goes right back to the way it was. Is there a way I can save my changes?

Right click on the MP3 files in Windows Explorer and go to Properties - Details . You can change the information?

I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:

    -Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service . If its status is started , double-click the service, and then click stop .
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, rename the folder Media Player as Old Media Player . If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. Tim Baets

  • Windows Media Player 12 plays not DVD

Hello, I have a new Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit system, running on a Gigabyte motherboard / Intel Core i7 920, built in the last days. I try to read commercial standard DVDs (e.g. Titanic) on the drive to DVD Samsung through a high-end Nvidia 1 GB graphic card, through Windows Media Player Version 12.0.7600.16415.

NOTE: VLC Player works fully, showing that the material (audio / video) is properly installed.

When you use the media player in Windows 7, I received the message "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card. The options are 'Close' or 'Web Help', where the latter gave no information.

This situation occurs through the display of several DVD media are OK.

I downloaded a lot of codecs on the Net, ending up with very pixelated video and distorted sound under Windows 7 Media Player.

I have now uninstalled these Codecs and VLC Player still works AOK.

Where are you offering me I have Windows 7, 64-bit codecs, Windows Media Player Version 12.0.7600.16415 player?

    Hello

This error "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card"is normally related to the video driver being unsigned. If your driver is not signed, you will not be able to play protected content, including DVDs.

Try to install the latest video driver and see if the problem persists.

    Thank you

  • the Windows media player 12 will not play 3gp (from mobile phone) with sound files

    12.0.7600.16415

    Hi vett82ce,

You will need a codec to play the video file. A codec is a software to compress or decompress a digital media file, such as a song or a video. Windows Media Player and other programs use the codec to play and create digital media files.

You can check the link to see the guidelines on the issue below:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/codecs-frequently-asked-questions

You can use the link provided below and check if you get the necessary codec to download depending on the type of file, you try to play.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

You can also use your favorite search engine to download and install a codec based on the file type, you must use.

NOTE- Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  • Windows Media player 12 will not update DRM

    Hello

I use my local library's digital download service. I tried to download a digital book... and he tells me that I need to improve my 25.00.0 to 25.00.1 DRM... or something like that.

Then I followed the instructions of programs... no upgrade

So I tried the link to Microsoft, they provided for use in Internet Explorer... There is a button to upgrade, but it turns so it can be pressed.

Then I went into Media Player and looked to see if it had to be upgraded... says that it is fully upgraded.

Ok... I'm fresh out of ideas... anyone else have an idea?
