WET610N not succeeded the DHCP

I have the job of bridge but I have to assign a static IP address for the above devices.  I can't address an address on my DHCP server.

Here's what I have:

Cisco ASA5505 (firewall server & DHCP)

WAP54G - Access Point

WET610N - this wireless bridge

The ASA5505 gives all wired computers and wireless DHCP address successfully. The WET610N has connectivity to the WAP54G. The status page indicates that it is connected and I can go on the internet if I put a static address.  However, once I have set up my computer to automatically get an IP from the DHCP server, it just expires and doesn't say limited connectivity or none.  Again, when I put a static IP address, I have connectivity at all.  I know that the AP works because I can get an address of my server DHCP (ASA5505) with my other laptops and even my cell phone.  Why I can't get a DHCP address through this bridge (WET610N)?

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you, I did all that.  I ended up back and perform a drop of cable.

  • 6248 VLAN do not receive the DHCP scope

I created two new DHCP scopes in my windows server 2003:

This DHCP server is connected to a Dell powerconnect 2708, which is connected to our new powerconnect 6248P via fiber point-to-point.

In the new computers on network on the default 1 VLAN are correctly attributed IPs as they connect.

I issued the following commands to the 6248 CLI:

I also added all traffic on VLAN 20 and 30 of VLAN on ports 1/g11 (6248) and port 2 (2708). VLAN 1 access was removed from ports 1/1/g1-g6 (6248)

Everything seems to have been set correctly, but I can't get a response from the DHCP server on all ports attached to VLAN 20. The powerconnect 2708 switch is unable to pass the baton to the server? Is it possible that something falls in the point to point?

I would greatly appreciate any comments or suggestions, thanks!

The 6248 has no default gateway. It wont let me put 192.168.1.1 because he does not reside in the same subnet as the 6248 (192.168.99.1)

The 2708 has listed 192.168.1.1 as its default gateway.

At this point, the network has too many complexities for me to unravel. I am very happy that at least I solved for DHCP when we finally migrate our server to the new location.

Once the server is up, and the gateway/firewall are directly connected to the 6248; I will review the correct configuration of this network.

Some advice to those who might have a similar problem: check your management VLAN. It may not be the same VLAN 1 if you plan to routing to work from VLAN 1 to nowhere else because the VLAN management cannot be routed. Also check static routing of your access point, make sure the front door has a return of the ips of your VLAN, IE: 192.168.2.0 255.255.255.0 gateway_ip

That's all for now. Thank you to all who have contributed

  • Could not start the DHCP Service on any ESG

    Hi all

I am currently training on the NSX. I lifted a laboratory, implementation of many of the features and then eliminated the NSX to do once more. I deleted all the logical switches, all edges of the NSX, all the controllers of the NSX and no Manager NSX until I deleted it. I was able to stand up to the lab again from scratch, but the only feature that I can't use now is the DHCP server on ANY ESG, I create. I'm able to add DHCP scopes, but when I try to "Publish changes" I get the following error:

    DHCP-invalid-config.PNG

I tried to provide only the required parameters (start and end IP), but no luck. I was wondering if anyone has encountered this error. Thank you.

    -Rob

After the upgrade to 6.2 NSX, I think I found the problem because the v6.2 gives me a more descriptive error. Using the same DHCP configuration as in my laboratory original, whenever I tried to publish my changes, I received an error saying that my domain name is not valid. As a result, that's what I learned: If your DHCP scope Specifies a domain name, please make sure that it is a higher level three characters valid, such as com or net domain name. My original scope in the laboratory was using home.local. I changed it pour.com and it worked.

  • Network does not accept the DHCP IP.

My printer before was on a network with IP 192.168.1.x.  Now , it's on a network with IP 10.0.0.x.  However, when I try to put it upward, while the installation program installation does see the new network, I still I get a message saying that my new network 10.0.0.x is incompatible with the old network 192.168.1.x.  I have only a single network in my establishment.  There are no other wireless networks in range.  The 10.0.0.x network is the only network in my establishment.  The SSID is new and unique.  Therefore, in the context, the message is clearly misleading.

(Others in this forum have had the same problem, but as far as I know, none got a reply that solved the problem).

Temporarily, I use the printer via a USB connection, but I need to make it work wireless.

    Thanks for any help.

Thatnks for the tip.  I fixed it (more wireless actually), by temporarily changing my IP of 192.168.1.2 computers.  Then, I was able to access the printer's internal web page.  It develops that I changed the IP of the printer to the manual mode and it set.  Internal once on the Web page, I was able to switch to automatic, and that fixed it.  I got my computer on automatic IP and that fixed everthing.

Goes well at the end, as they say.

  • Protect the DHCP with SRM

    Hey guys,.

We are in the middle of a project of DR and have come to the point that we want to have our service ready DHCP DR.  The idea of Split range (80/20) standard is an option we are looking at, but in a DR or even single server failure there is a bit of management that is necessary to ensure the secondary DHCP server can serve all the IP addresses of all scopes (before it's 20% fills).  So we have an idea to use SRM to protect DHCP.

We have two sites, connected via the 3 layer, with two 10GB connections between the two (for fault tolerance and load balancing).  The DR site is a live environment; It is a branch across the city (such as 30 kilometers).

The idea of the scope of Split we have DHCP running on a domain controller in each site with the server DHCP secondary (DR) serving 20% of the IP addresses of each field and the primary DHCP serving 80%.  This can be setup using the wizard of scope of Split that MS has the Server 2008.  In doing so we cover failure of the primary DHCP server (it is also a virtual machine so HA protects too), but also the Site as the secondary DHCP server failure will be in place.  If we have an extended outage of the primary DHCP server then we need to get to the secondary DHCP server and increase all scopes, ensuring that conflict detection is on.

Our thinking is to move the DHCP on the domain controller and give it its own virtual server.  Then, we protect the service DHCP using MRS to move it on the DR site in a DR situation.  This will cause the DHCP server to get a new IP address, as the two sites are connected by Layer 3 - the same subnets cannot exist in both places.  And that's where our thought process is getting confused...

What will happen with the DHCP service, if the server has a new IP address?

What is the process for DHCP clients attempting to renew its IP address:

    one) to restart the computer?

    (b) to the mark 1/2 way of their lease?

On the one hand, I think that MRS is the easiest way to protect not only the DHCP, but also to minimize the DHCP solution management.  The scope of Split idea help to ensure that any change to a DHCP server is replicated to the other server: scope changes, scope of options changes, reservation changes, etc...

Has anyone analyzed the all around it?

    Thank you!!

    Gerald

That is right.  DHCP server only cares about its own address.  As long as you subnet broadcast forwarders to two IP addresses of the DHCP server so that the request hits the server DHCP it matches just MAC address for reservations of IP / scopes etc. and will work.

Only thing to check when it rises to the DR is if the DHCP server may need approval again before DHCP works. Do not remember how it works off the coast of the hand.

  • Pwerconnect 6224: vlan client computers do not receive the ip address of DHCP server on a different VLAN

    Hello

I have a prolem routing dhcp requests between the vlan management where DHCP server resides and the other VLANs.

I have the scenario of base with three VLANS: vlan 10 (management vlan), 20, 30, configured on a Powerconnect 6224 switch L2 mode. This switch is connected to a pfsense router. The router is configured at the package of road between the VLANS and it does it well.

In Vlan 10, I have a configured DHCP server to use the ip addresses of all the VLANS (10, 20, 30). VLAN 10 client computers receive ip address but not others from other VLANs.

When I put the ip address in the appropriate range of VLANs manually on computers, I ping the server and I have connectivity.

This suggests that the problem is with the dhcp package.

The DHCP server stores information that could be useful? May need to configure monitoring ports and something as wireshark to monitor DHCP packets. This would help determine where the package is stopping.

    example:

Console (config) #monitor session 1 source interface 1/g8

Console (config) #monitor session 1 destination interface 1/g10

session mode 1 #monitor console (config)

right now I don't see anything in the config of the switch that stands out. If the DHCP server is configured for option 82, then you will need to include the following command on the switch.

    Example:

    Trust l2relay console #dhcp (config-if-1/g1)

But I don't think that's our scenario here.

  • MD3000i do not pick up the DHCP

I recently picked up a new server of MD3000i (closed box of Dell).  I connected the management interface on the first (double) regulator to a silent timer with a router Cisco (DHCP server) connected to it.

The MD3000i na not asked nor received an IP address from the router.  So, I set up my box XP with an IP address in the 24 that the MD3000 will resort to, if it cannot find a DHCP server (note that the XP machine was able to get an IP address from the server when it is configured to do so, so I am reasonably confident that the DHCP server works).  I couldn't ping the MD3000 using fall back address IP is not is the management software, installed in the box to XP able to find the machine.

Ok.  So I think that maybe the machine has been set up by Dell as part of a demonstration, etc., and is the basic configuration has been changed.  So I pull the Ethernet cable to the management port, connect the iSCSI controller port 0 0 and restart the MD3000i.  When the computer reboots, the port at request and receives an IP address.  Cool.  But the management software on the XP box can't talk about it yet.

    1. it looks like the configuration has been changed from what the MD3000i manual says?

2 How do I reset this back.

I'm not an expert storage yet - but quite eager to get the server going?  Can someone point me to a document or another publication (I check first) which will help.

    Kind regards

  • "Your computer could not renew its address from the network (from the DHCP server) for the network card"?

I saw this question posted several times here, but I can't find someone who has exactly the same problem I have.

This problem started a week ago. Basically, my computer loses its connection ethernet once per hour to around the same exact time. which is only for about 5 seconds, but it's enough to get Skype and other things while I'm working, and it's very frustrating because I use Skype to talk with customers, and it looks unprofessional when my calls fall every single time. my computer can also use wireless (which does not go down), but he's too unstable for my work.

now on the error message I posted. I get this error in my observer of events in about 30 minutes until my ethernet goes down, so I don't know if they are interlaced or not, because I don't get any errors when my ethernet really crashes.

Here's what I've tried so far without success:

-temporarily disable the firewall and antivirus

-updated driver for both my wired network cards and wireless (both were UTD)

I don't know what to do because I've never had this problem before.

Here is some information on my computer if that helps all:

    OS: windows 7 Home premium (x 64-bit)

    computer model: gateway DX4870

Look on the side of the router and make sure that the DHCP lease time has not set to 60 minutes.  As a simple solution you can just assign a reserved DHCP or a static address to the computer (in the router).

PS: You'll find the DHCP lease on the map with the command ipconfig/all command at a command prompt
