WGA says Win XP Pro must be enabled AGAIN?

Last fall, I installed XP Pro SP3 on a new hard drive. I didn't have no problem activation online right here and XP was working fine until yesterday.

All of a sudden, the program Windows Genuine Advantage on my PC says that XP has not been activated and that it will stop running in 2 days.

So I followed the instructions for activation XP on the MS site, which says to click on "Activate Windows" under "All programs." However, there is no command "Activate Windows" listed in "all programs"! What should I do now?

    Hi all.

I replaced the HARD drive on my Elitebook2570p for SSD and I need to reinstall Win 7 Pro OEM to enable using my travel sticker located under the battery.

I saw in aid of MS that we should reach to the local HP service center to do this, can cause seller issued series of Win does not allow with MS Genuine audit.

However, the service representative Local HP told me that they cannot ask for Win 7 Installer CD to professional laptops and I must ask HP support directly.

Could someone in HP give me a hint what to do in this case?

I have a laptop and he says: my WiFi is disabled and must be enabled.  I have no idea how to proceed.  Not very computer savy.

Consult the manual where there is a diagram of the buttons and ports on the computer and there should be a switch that you toggle or a function key, you need to press to activate / disable the WiFi features.  It will depend on the model, in order to check the manual.

  • How to enable embedded Win 8 standard after entering wrong license win 8 pro key?

My laptop came with Windows preinstalled 8 standard and I activated it easily. However, last week, my younger brother attempted to upgrade my laptop to win 8 Pro using a serial key that he got his friend. Now Windows requires activation, which is linked to failure. After his arrival to know my brother that he was not a key legitimate, I decided that I should come back to the pre-installed Windows 8 standard license and activate it. But because Windows 8 standard key is integrated in my system, I can't find the legitimate standard key to win 8.

Advice me please how I should return to my driver's license standard Win 8 shipped without having to reinstall the operating system. Will be very happy to be using legitimate software again, so thank you for your help.

With Windows 8, Microsoft changed stickers that have the product key that the user must type in during the installation of the operating system of new embedded BIOS product key. The idea is that by eliminating the tile, you eliminate one of the easiest ways for nefarious users get a legitimate product key. The sticker also eliminating product key removes any concern that the vignette could get damaged while at the same time eliminating the long and irritating the process of typing in various letters and numbers in the installation of the operating system.

If the user has to reinstall the operating system on a computer with Windows 8, the installation process automatically captures key software product of the motherboard BIOS without input from the user. This means that these stickers familiar windows product key will no longer appear on Windows 8 computers.

  • Wise Blackjack who worked on Win 95, Win XP Pro. Win 7 says its installer is not compatible and will not open it.

I installed this on many machines from Win 95. I now running on several machines of Win XP Pro SP3.
INSTALLATION of Sage BJ. EXE has a creation Date of the Sep 1998 05, size 24 KB. I tried every compatibility mode selection, WinXP SP3 via Win 95 - Win 7 don't like him for any of them. So I can't even at first base to install it now.
Research online, I can't find clues for newer versions.
It would seem that, if it was "mission critical", I will follow a path to upgrade to Windows 7 Pro, so that I can install it "Win XP Mode". Maybe need arises for some other software, but not for running a game.

The program was designed there is an earlier version of win years, cannot as such that it is supposed to operate an o/s, win7, what is fundimentally different from earlier versions of victory, even in compatibility modes.

Maybe that is a 16-bit program, and you are using a version of win7 64-bit?

Another problem with this laptop Satellite A30
The built-in modem does not work.

    * Explanation: *.
The driver is correct and downloaded from the Toshiba support site.
The modem is identified as "Toshiba software modem amr" and is installed on com3 port.

When I click on "diagnosis" and "ask modem" (right labels can be different, since my is an Italian win xp, I just translated the Italian labels), a window pops up saying: it is impossible to open the door (port), the modem is connected to.

I tried to change the com port of the modem to different numbers, but the problem is the same.
I don't know if the modem is a real map connected somehow to the main Board or is built right on the main map. It would be the first case, I may change see ad. BTW, the mini slot pci is already occupied by the gigabyte of Wi - Fi, so the modem must be elsewhere.

This is strange, since I've done at least 2 other win xp pro on this machine facilities, always download and install the appropriate drivers, and the modem has never worked.
    Thank you

  • Printing from W7 HP laptop attached to a Win XP Pro Office; driver needed?

    Hello:

Have a home network of XP machines that allows to print on a HP 3030 printer that is usb attached to a wireless Win XP Pro SP3 desktop.  Find everything HP/fine print.  Added a portable W7 Home Prem 64 b, changed the name of default WORKING group-> of the existing XP Workgroup. W7 is attached 3030 fine on the net, but:

Trying to add the printer results in: "Cannot find the driver on the network..." "One needs. INF file.  Try to find such a file locally fails; configuration to add a printer to look at Windows Update also fails.  HP.com says that support this printer is "Windows7" - I can't find a driver. INF file to d/l.

Suggestions welcomed.  Is it really a driver problem or a W7 problem Windows XP Home edition?  Thanks in advance.

Endnote: W7 laptop can print to HP if it is local/USB-connected directly to the 3030, so the driver 3030 in W7 works; the problem seems to be in queue a task to the WXP since the W7 over the net.

OK solved this problem; If anyone has this problem go on the W7 Forum in this same topic for my post/reply.  The solution is to add the WinXP printer as a local printer via a Local Port; a W7 driver must be available on the W7 machine of course...  Solution has been posted for the same problem under Vista.

  • How can I set an automatic sleep period Win 7 Pro

How can I set the duration of sleep to a Win 7 Pro PC, for example go to sleep automatically an hour given while wake up automatically at a specific time?

This PC is basically unattended but files hosts used by the other computers on a peer-to-peer network.

Run this batch file to put the machine to sleep:

    ================================

    Powercfg/h off
    Rundll32.exe powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState

    ================================

The Powercfg /h off command requires that the scheduled task will run with the highest privileges.

If you want to stop the computer rather than put it to sleep, use the command shutdown instead of the command of powrprof.dll, SetSuspendState rundll32.exe.

To start the computer it just create a simple task and go to the properties of the task a 'Conditions' tab, select the option to enable the computer to run the task.

Note that the condition of 'Wake computer' relies on the BIOS clock to wake the computer, the computer must support this (do most desktop computers), and the option must be enabled in BIOS power options.  When you enable the option in the BIOS do not allow the timer to all zeros, enter a manual setting any or although the BIOS is unable to activate the feature, Windows will overwrite the timer with the correct date & time when you started the scheduled task.

Note that a computer into hibernation do not wake to run a scheduled task.

  • Cannot connect Win 7 Pro PC Win XP Workgroup

Win 7 Pro 64 Bit PC, I see the Win XP PC if I'm typing \\name in the search box or line URL but the connection disappears as soon as I close the Explorer. They do not appear under network.
I do not see the Win 7 PC to any Win XP PC and can't do their ping
I tried to disable the firewall from Win 7, but that did not help.
I tried to change the network ID on 2 PC different of XP, but it does not work:
Right click on desktop, select Properties
Click Network ID - watch computer belongs to a domain that is not, there is no server
changed by not part of the domain
changed the name of the workgroup is same as name of working group in the main screen
    Save the changes and reboot
When I go back to look at the changes are not made, back on the field and bad name working group (the "working group")
What could be blocking me to change the settings for XP? I am logged in as administrator (the only user on all XP PC).

Thanks for the links. I tried all settings suggested and many more other items, but I still can't Win 7 Pro SP1 from PC to see the Win XP Pro SP 3 pieces.
Even tried stopping IPv6 and changed sharing encryption 40 or 56-bit
All Win 7 PC can see another Win 7 PC and all the XP PC can see all other XP PC.
I Ping the PC XP from Win 7 PC, but I can't Ping a Win 7 PC to any PC in XP.
The Win 7 PC IP addr are 192.168.2.xxx, the XP IP addr 192.168.1.xxx.
This would be a router issue?

XP cannot recognize the Homegroups Win7 so machines Win7 need to be networked by using user accounts and passwords.

All the computers are in the same workgroup and the same subnet (IE. 192.168.1.x AND 192.168.2.x)

You did not say as much, but it seems that if you are using 2 routers, or a router, and another device that is also using DHCP to assign a different range of intellectual property of the numbers on your local network. There should be only one DHCP server on the network. If you are using 2 routers, rewire inter-connexions such as only one router is the only DHCP server and offering all services while the second router routing simply acts as a switch with no routing service.

The type of network for Win7 computers must be set to home or work. Choice work avoids having to deal with getting rid of the default settings of the homegroup.

Make sure the network discovery and file & printer sharing turned on for home or work on Win7 computers networks

Regarding access to shared files, etc., XP computers must connect to a Win7 computers with the user name and password of a user on the Win7 machine. The commonly recommended solution is to create a single common username with the same password on all computers on the network. (If you find a better way, I wonder if it's me)

Encryption level should not affect the connectivity (high is best) as long as it's the same for all machines.

The Win7 firewall may be set by default to block incoming Pings, or it might be your router configuration. Anything from an IP address 192.168.1.x could be regarded as an external network by the 192.168.2.x router connection and incoming Pings can be blocked because of this.

  • Where can I find the Windows Media Player for WIN 7 Pro 32 Bit?

My windows media player will not open. I upgraded from Windows 7 starter to windows 7 Professional recently. I have windows 7 32-bit professional. I tried to use the 64-bit (this is all that is available on the windows site, but my computer says this is not the right program and will not install it.) Where can I find the WMP for WIN 7 Pro 32 Bit?

Unless you have an "N" of Windows 7 edition, you must have Windows Media Player. If you have an "N" edition, please visit:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/is-is/Windows7/products/what-is-Windows-7-N-Edition

For more details and a download link.

The case, first try to find the executable file for Windows Media Player and create a new shortcut from that.

    1. open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).

    2. navigate to:

    C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player

    3. find the file named wmplayer.exe and then right-click on it and create a shortcut on the desktop.

    4. test the shortcut.

If the above does not work, try:

    1. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.

    2. click on programs and features.

    3. on the left side of the screen, click on 'Windows turn features on or off".

    4. look for the entry called multimedia features, expand it, and then *check the box next to Windows Media Player.

    5. click on OK.

    6. restart the PC.

    * If the Windows Media Player box is already checked, uncheck the box , click OK, restart your PC, then do steps 1-6 above.
