What Apple Cinema Display Monitor for my mid 2010 iMac 27

Thinking of getting a 22 to 24 "Cinema Display to my iMac 27. Looking for the matte screen. What should I look for?

Apple stopped making them. You will need a third-party monitor.

  • Use the Apple Cinema Display Monitor on iMac 5K?

I think the upgrade from my old 'tour' Mac Pro to an iMac of 5K.  It still basically works, but seems inexplicably slow and the two is soft RAID and the system as a whole is more in more not supported.

Anyway, he has a gorgeous, fully working 30 '' Apple Cinema Display (apparently A1083 model number), which I believe connects via DVI.  I wish you to continue to use this monitor with a new iMac, in addition to the 5 K monitor integrated, of course.

Does anyone know a Thunderbolt/DVI adapter?  I searched a bit, but so far have not found anything...

Having found nothing on Apple's site, I thought, what the devil and checked Amazon.  I found that something called "J & D Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt) to DVI adapter cable converter.

Does this mean that the Thunderbolt is identical to what PCs call mini-Display port?

  • I can no more color calibrate my monitor Apple Cinema Display 10 years because it is more compatible with my iMac Thunderbolt.  How can I color calibrate the Apple Cinema Display Monitor?

I currently own an iMac OS X El Capitan Version 10.11.4 27 inches (2 1/2 years) with Thunderbolt technology.  I also have a screen of cinema with older technology.  Previously, when the technology was the same for the Apple display and my previous iMac, I was able to color calibrate the Apple cinema and my iMac but it is no longer the case. I know that there is a way to color calibrate the monitor Cinema with old technology when the iMac has the Thunderbolt technology, but cannot remember what are the steps.  The colors on the Apple Cinema are out of whack and too bright.  Can anyone help?  I'd appreciate any help you can provide.  Thank you.

    Hello henriettefromnovato,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see you want to calibrate the color of your movie screen.  You can calibrate your screen by following the steps in the link below.

OS X Yosemite: calibrate your screen

If you are unable to do so, then please be more specific about what happens when you try and calibrate.

  • How to connect mid 2000 Apple Cinema Display to all new MacBook Pro

    Hi all

I have an old monitor Apple Cinema Display (probably around 2005/2006) and would like to connect it to my new MacBook Pro. I bought the cable I thought I needed but it wasn't the right one, so to avoid that happening again, please could someone advise which is the right cable to use.

    Thank you!

I have no idea of what you purchased was not compatible.

You will need an adapter of your Thunderbolt port for the cinema display.  I guess (since you don't specify the entries on the screen) that your cinema display has a DVI input then get something like these:

  • Can I conduct an Apple LED Cinema Display Monitor with a Dell laptop?

I have an Apple LED Cinema Display Monitor. My work gave me a Dell laptop to do the work of CAD. I would drive with her display. Are there drivers / adapters to get the job done?

You need a DisplayPort on the Dell. See also monitor LED Cinema Display (27-inch) - technical specifications .

  • Can I connect a Macbook from 12 "to my old Apple Cinema Display 30 ''?

I have a new 12 "MacBook that I cannot connect to my Thunderbolt display, but was hoping to connect it to my old Apple Cinema Display 30". So far, no luck, don't just wanted to ask if it was a popular race of crazy or maybe I was doing something wrong.

The 30 "Cinema Display has a DVI port out, and so far I used it successfully with an old MacBook Air via an Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter.

Then I thought, 'I'll buy a USB - C for the Mini DisplayPort adapter!' thinking that I would be able to link 12 '' MacBook with USB - C to Mini DisplayPort adapter Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter to Apple Cinema Display 30 ''.

It does not work. I tried two different USB - C for the Mini DisplayPort adapters and two different Apple Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter, without success.

If this work, or is it doomed to failure? And if it should work, what can I do better?

    Thank you

    Alan

A single adapter would be the best bet. If you can find a C - USB to DVI, maybe that would work, assuming that the Cinema display does not use a DVI port updated the. Here is a sample of the Amazon.

  • Try to connect 2007 Apple Cinema Display to the retina of MacBook Pro

I'm trying to connect my MacBook Pro retina 2015 to my old Apple Cinema Display 2007. Apple recommended the purchase of the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI. I connected everything except directly from monitor adding firewire cable.

I can see the image of the bottom of my laptop, but it is. No feature and not an imitator of my laptop. I'm not 'super tech savvy' but need help. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

Looks like you have the display as extended desktop configuration. With this the second screen is like an extension of the first screen. For the use of several screens, see:

OS X El Capitan: connect multiple monitors to your Mac

It is similar to the other versions of OSX

The screen has FireWire ports, but to use them, plug the FireWire to your Mac. Unless your Mac has two Thunderbolt ports do not use FW via a bolt of lightning > adopter FW

  • Apple Cinema Display with old Mac

Hello! I was wondering, I have an apple Cinema Display with the famous ADC video plug. I also have a couple of old Mac without a monitor, for example a performa 6360 Powermac 6100 and Macintosh iicx and Iisi. Y at - it a video adapter to use the movie with these old Mac screen? is this possible?

    Thanks in advance!

The main obstacle is that a screen ADC must get its power through an ADC port on the computer. The old Mac you list can only the power of their old school connectors.

    I remember this adapter:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/Apple-Mac-A1006-DVI-to-ADC-adapter-cord-for-cinema-monit 221995991474 or-display-EMC-1918? hash = i...

be needed to power a monitor ADC to an ADC not Mac, but I would feel much better if another old graybeard archived to check my aging memory. You still need an adapter to convert the DVI on the adapter port 15 pin Apple old Mac. Some 6100 s required a special just HDI15-to-DB15 adapter to use a normal Apple display that would have been contemporary the 6100:

  • Mac Pro, Apple Cinema display, no brightness control

Hi, hope you can help me.

I recently bought a (2nd hand) Mac Pro with an Apple Cinema Display 27 "monitor. El Capitan installed and fully implemented to date. For some reason my Apple keyboard brightness do not work and there is also no under display settings brightness adjustment. I read that some people had similar problems due to some bugs, but it was in 2013 with older versions of Mac OS.

Does anyone know how I can control (mainly make it brighter) my movie screen? Right now the screen is too dark, and it is not suitable for video editing.

    My config is:

    OS X El Capitan (V 10.11.3)

    Mac Pro (end 2013) - 3 GHz 8 Core Intel Xeon E5

    64 GB 1866 Mhz DDR3 ECC

    GPU: AMD over-pants D700 6144 MB x 2

PS as you can see in the picture there is no brightness adjustment that I can use.

The screen is connected via thunderbolt.

The brightness on the KB (F1 and F2) keys work?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think it will work, the cinema display monitor is 16:10 so be deformed but if that was the case.

  • Apple Cinema Display

Want to use my two 30 "Apple Cinema Display DVI 2560 x 1600 at full resolution and have not found the graphics card.

    Have:

Mac Pro Model ID: MacPro4, 1

    In early 2009

Processor 3.32 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon

    Memory 48 GB 1066 MHz DDR3 ECC

Graphics  ATI Radeon HD 4870 512 MB

    Software  Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 (11G 63)

Have you tried an ATI Radeon 4870 x 2 GB but still cannot get full resolution on the 2nd monitor.

Any recommendations for the graphics card?

    Thank you

This monitor has DVI double input binding.

You need a cheap mini displayport ($99) for video cards with a mini displayport

A card with DVI output double link will work

  • What is the best SSD 2016 compatible Mac for a Mid 2010 13 "MBP?

    Hello

I'm looking for a compatible Mac (no worries) SSD for my Mid 2010 13 "2,4 Ghz MBP.

I can't afford to upgrade to a new MBP. but a 240 GB, 250 GB, 256 GB SSD is desirable.

I've read up, and it seems that the Samsungs are a chore for macs.

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you.

I got excellent results with SSD OCZ and OWC. I also used Samsung 840 and 850 (not professional) without any problem on several of my computers. OCZ and SSD from OWC are quite compatible.
