  SOLVED! I went through this same problem. The problem is that Corel Paint Shop Pro installation tries to run the version of DirectX 2007 right off the bat during the installation process and it will fail to install because it is in conflict with the new version of DirectX that comes with Windows 7. Corel's marketing hype said their programs are compatible Windows 7. How DirectX is now integrated into the operating system, why in the world would they attempt to install an older version of DirectX? Compatible with Windows 7? I don't think so!

  HOW TO FIX:
  (1) run the installer as usual.

  (2) for the configuration of the installation, the installer will extract a ton of files in a temporary folder named c:\users\yourname\appdata\local\Corel Paint Shop Photo Pro\1.1.5.001. It comes to the actual installation of Paint Shop Pro extracted. I don't know the exact name of the folder, but just look in your account in c:\users\yourname\appdata\local folder, and you'll see a newly created Corel folder. CAVEAT! If you quit the Setup program, it will automatically delete this entire folder structure, so don't hit the button 'FINISH' until you complete the following steps!

  (3) when the Corel dialog ask accept you the contract of license, open Windows Explorer and copy the installation Corel since \users\yourname\appdata\local to somewhere else, directory structure such as your desktop. This will ensure that the files are not deleted, and you can go run setup.exe as many times as you want.

  (4) now you can fill or kill the original installation of Corel Paint Shop program still running on your PC. After she fails and you press the button COMPLETE, it will automatically delete the folders that it created under c:\users\yourname\appdata\local.

  (5) access to your new COPY of the installation Corel folder, drill down to the 1.1.5.001 which is a subfolder and edit the file setup.xml with a text editor.   I don't know what DirectX installer you are trying to use it, but there are two

  versions.

  -The Installer Web DirectX is best used on machines with a new installation of Windows, or a

  who has ever updated DirectX update. It was not all 'new' files DX since 2010, so

  It is generally not useful if DX was previously updated.

  (Garry mods using one of the latest DX9 - d3dx9_40.dll, which does not install with Win7)

  The Web Installer will install DirectX "missing" files, but does not overwrite existing files.

  Download DirectX end-user Runtime Web Installer from the official Microsoft Download Center

  -The installation package from DirectX Redist (June 2010) is the best option, if there is no corrupted DirectX file, as this installed replaces all DirectX files.

  -This installer first "unpacks" the DirectX files to a location of your choice (you can create a new

  folder on the desktop and unzip to there, because this folder can be removed after the installation of DX).

  You left out which version of DirectX has been shown.

  As far as I know, your Intel 945GM should support DirectX 9 and because you have XP sp3, you must have at least DirectX 9 installed.

  I met the following, but it shouldn't apply to Powerpoint:

  I don't have a solution for you (assuming that DXDIAG, in fact, reports to have DirectX 9 or higher).  You can see if you install a new driver support, but if it were me, I would be first contact Acer technical support or ask your question in another forum as one of the following conditions:

  I'm assuming that your machine uses the older Intel GMA graphics, which was a chip on the motherboard.

  The new graphics Intel HD is integrated into the cpu and is much more capable (especially HD4000 and higher).

  There are a number of recent games which can be limited to DX10 or 11, but these are a little

  rare (Just Cause 2 is only DX10). These games (commonly known as AAA securities) have high demands.

  and your Intel graphics card would struggle to operate at all, even using only DX9.

  The vast majority of games that use DX 10 and 11 would be using DX9 by default. DX10 or 11 effects are options selected in the games setting menus. The only way to implement the DX10/11 effects without running the game in

  a slideshow would be to lower the other most important graphics settings.

  I say more important because the DX10/11 effects are more icing on the cake - more agreeable, smoke and similar light

  subtle effects.

  -There is no way to upgrade all of the graphics (dedicated card or built-in) to higher levels of DX, and

  There is no way to upgrade integrated graphics chipsets. They are mounted to the motherboard.

  If it is a PC, you should be able to install a dedicated graphics card, but the power supply must be
