What happened to setting browser.tabs.ontop
I want to place the address located above the tabs bar. Is it still possible?
Try to use the Classic theme restaurateur, hasn't put the address bar above the bar of tabs, but with the classic module since version 29 restaurateur theme you can!

I followed the instructions in the help on this article, but when I got to browser.tabs.onTop, it has already been set to "false". So I tried to put it on true, but there was no change. Go back, it was again set to false, but my tabs are always on top. Please help - it is a problem for me!
If you miss the module bar and the tabs on the bottom option, you can certainly do with extensions!

I know that firefox once put the tabs on the top, but I got that fixed with setting in "subject: config" the value of 'browser.tabs.onTop' to 'false '.
Now, after upgrading Firefox to v.29, that this entry is always set to false, however, can't do the tabs below the adressbar (which is super annoying).
Any ideas how to solve this problem?Note that you can also do this easily with the code to userChrome.css that basically, you just give to the tab bar a higher value of - moz-box-ordinal-group (most toolbars have a default value 1 to show them in the order of DOM).
Add code to the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); #TabsToolbar { -moz-box-ordinal-group: 10000 !important; }
The file userChrome.css (UI) customization and userContent.css (Web sites) are located in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder.

I want my tabs under the address bar.
I read the tip to:
"subject: config" then search for "browser.tabs.onTop" and the value falsebrowser.tabs.onTop IS NOT COME UP, IT IS NOT in THE LIST of OPTIONS!
The very old version of Firefox 10.0.2, you use does not record this setting in a pref, but the file localstore.rdf allowing to memorize it.
<RDF:Description RDF:about="chrome://browser/content/browser.xul#navigator-toolbox" tabsontop="true" />
If you insist in this version, then you should find it in view > toolbars tools, or you can right-click on the free toolbar space.

I have three computers running firefox 31. I have just installed it on a pc running windows xp, but cannot know the Boolean operator 'browser.tabs.onTop' in: config. I tried to make a new Boolean operator by right click and choose new/Boolean, but it has only created a channel operator.
In fact, you have already installed Ctr. In the Options dialog box, there is a control to move the tab bar. You can get the options on the page modules. Either:
- CTRL + SHIFT + a
- "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, you will find classic theme restaurateur and his Options button.

Tabs may still be under the address bar? I used the fix browser.tabs.onTop
I use the Fox for the work and as the tabs under the address bar. In the past, I used browser.tabs.onTop to solve this problem, but it doesn't seem to work with firefox version 29.0a2 aurora (2014-02-07).
You can watch the classic extension theme restaurateur restore some features that has been lost with the arrival of the Australis style in Firefox 29.

- You can check the settings of the extension of the CTR through the Options/preferences button on the page "Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions.
- You can find the additional toolbar buttons in the Customize palette (Firefox 3-bar menu button > customize)

Another option is to add the code to the file userChrome.css below default @namespace.
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */ #TabsToolbar{-moz-box-ordinal-group:10000!important}

What happened to save the tabs when Firefox is closed?
In Firefox v3.6* every time you closed the browser asked you if you want to save your tabs open so that they reopened the next time you start Firefox. Even when the update to the extensions/add-ons and by having to restart Firefox it would happen. It has been very useful but in v4.0. * This feature seems to no longer exist.
Firefox stores now always the old session, and you can access it by going to the history menu and selecting "restore previous Session."
If you want Firefox to display the message to save the session, it can be turned on again by changing some preferences.
- Type of topic: config in the address bar and press on enter
- Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
- Find browser.tabs.warnOnClosepreference, if its value is set to false, double-click on it to change its value to true
- Repeat this for 3 preferences browser.warnOnQuit, the browser.warnOnRestart and the browser.showQuitWarning
If you always open the last set of tabs, another approach is the following:
- Click on the orange button Firefox, then select options to open the options window
- Go to the general Panel
- Change the setting "When Firefox starts" to "show my windows and tabs from last time '.

Everything was working fine until today. I don't like having tabs on top, and I would like to have in the classic position of firefox, as many people as well.
I hope you'll solve the problem with the next update.
You can watch this extension:
- Restorer of classic theme: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/
You can set "Tabs not on top" in the options for the extension on the subject: addons page.

What happened to my browser?
I connected to a double by devices screen, and after that I reconnected it on PC only, my google chrome does not open. I tried to uninstall, but it will not uninstall b/c its asking me to close the programs open in it, but I can't close because I can't open the browser. I tried to do what was suggested with firewall and cut for a minute and then turn it on, and who does not. I tried opening through the start page, without success. Basically, I can't open google chrome at all, and I can't do anything to restore. The "devices" has been lacking in the second screen with a message saying that "nothing can be sent from the office." Outsourced agent stated that windows by default automatically to the second screen even if it is set on the screen of the pc, which seems odd. Everything was very well with google chrome wrkng until I put the second screen devices. I actually never connected to a second screen for my tv does not support the technology. everything works fine... Explorer, all my other programs etc. Any ideas on how to restore google chrome? Can't talk to anyone, irritable, and none of the help support chrome seems to work with this problem.
Thank you stephanie,.
I had repaired the problem last night before I read this. I restarted my computer, what I should have done immediately, but do not think that would solve the problem. After the reboot, I was able to uninstall and reinstall. The good thing is saved chrome all my favorites! Happy about it. Everything seems to be in order now. Thanks for your response! If it happens again, I will return to this. -
Go to about: config and changed tabs on top for false but tabs are always on top.
Well, it is a bit of information that would have been helpful to forward. Enough criticism, wouldn't you say?
In any case, it worked, and I now have tabs on the bottom. Thank you.
And somebody had to hit Firefox developers who continue to take away the feature at the side of the head with a 2 x 4. Apparently, they won't have to 'do' another way.

What does the setting "browser.sessionhistory.optimize_eviction"?
Can someone point me to a list of what the topic: configuration properties are for?
Alohaclosetotheedge,
I'm sorry to say that there is not complete because there are over 1 billion of them out there. (Sarcasm). But he's much mentioned in this Article on Mozillazine enumerated below:

Whence the parameter to customize what happens when a new tab is opened?
I miss being able to open tab to the list of tabs or my search engine recently closed... I thought I remembered it being able to do that before, I'm going crazy?
Sorry, this feature is not built into Firefox. You must have had an extension that provided this functionality.
Here are two extensions that add this feature of Firefox.
New tab homepage extension

or
NewTabURL extension

I kept getting a message that says you need to update or you are using an outdated version of foxfire.
So I have updated or downloaded the new version and my book brand label wasn't in the same place. And it's very different.See also:

Before v29, browser.tabs.onTop set to false has worked very well. V29 makes this useless parameter, and now I'm stuck now with a browser that looks like a Microsoft or Google. Please fix immediately!
The beta version of Firefox to the current address has interface Australis which seems different from the UI in Firefox 28 and lower versions.
The pref pref browser.tabs.onTop is no longer supported in Firefox 29You can watch the classic extension theme restaurateur restore some lost features, including the tabs on top.
You can also move the tabs on the lower position, just above the navigation area without the use of an extension cord with code to userChrome.css that basically, you just give the tab bar a higher value of - moz-box-ordinal-group (most toolbars have a default value for - moz-box-ordinal-group: 1 to show them in the order of DOM).
- [997353/questions/997353] How can I put the back below the navigation tabs?
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul"); /* only needed once */ #TabsToolbar { -moz-box-ordinal-group:10000 !important; }
