This is the reason why I can't download GoogleChrome? Thanks for your help!  HP HOME PREMIUM, IE 9 WINDOWS 7 64 BIT bought in October 2009

Hi VivvyGurnett,

Thanks for posting in the Microsoft Community.

DNS is a system that is used in networks TCP/IP for naming computers and network services. DNS naming locates computers and services through user-friendly names. When a user enters a DNS name in an application, DNS services can resolve the name to other information that is associated with the name, for example an IP address.

I suggest you try to download the browser using an alternative installer.

  • What is a dns server?

Hello, like all other issues I could not my search on the web on MSN to respond. He said he was do not connect the DNS. I had the web page to the top, but he did this the last time. I have a modem router (no comcast, cavalier) and I was wondering if it might be my internet provider? Thank you

    Hi MaryGross,

The provider of Internet services (DNS, Domain Name System) is a standard technology to maintain the names of Web sites and other Internet domains. It is an Internet service that translates IP addresses into domain names.

You can try to reset the modem or the router, and the check for the issue.

    a. disconnect the cable that connects the computer to the modem.

    b. turn off the modem / router.

Note: If the modem or the router does not have a power switch, turn off the power to the modem or to the router.

    c. restart the computer.

    d. Once your computer has restarted, turn on the modem or the router, connect the cable from the computer to the modem or the router and restart the computer.

    e. make sure that all network cables are properly connected.

    f. start Internet Explorer.

I would also ask you to contact the manufacturer of your modem/router to know how to reset a router or a modem.

If you are always faced with the question, then you must contact the ISP for further assistnace.

    Hope this information is useful.

  • Why static DNS server address round get the unable to download updates 8024402C problem in WIN7?

I got a work around for the unable to download problem error 8024402C updated on a new laptop WIN7 Starter running.  I get regarding the size of the update and starts to download, but nothing comes down.  The solution is to change the DNS settings of default for a manually configured DNS server, for example 4.2.2.2.  It works, but I wonder why, and what is he moving?

The auto setting worked when I was in the United States connecting via a LAN in the hotel but not here at home in AUS, where the settings auto search for an address DNS 192.168.1.1, my router ADSL/2.  All other functions like Skype, Adobe updated, download of MS shop, all work very well using 192.168.1.1.  Also my XP Home PC, all use 192.168.1.1 and they get the updates without any problem.

-What is someone able to explain why?

    Thank you

    Hi ascidiens,

The 0x8024402C error codes typically occur because there is an incorrect character in substitution of proxy settings. Basically, it's something to do with the proxy of your connection settings network and which can be overcome by changing the DNS settings in manual.

Bad adjustment System (DNS) domain name of your network connection may also cause this error. Update Windows servers are accessible through DNS servers configured for Internet access. If a local DNS server has changed for some reason, the Windows Update client isn't able to find and connect to the Windows Update server.

I would like to know if refer to a Microsoft article to work around this problem by changing the settings default for a manually configured DNS server DNS (Domain Name System).

I would say to you to follow the steps mentioned in the link below for the complete solution of the problem

    Hello

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description of the problem, I understand that you can not connect to the network on your computer.

I can understand how frustrating it can be when things do not work as expected.

To better understand this issue, I would like to know the following information:

    1. What is the brand and model of the computer?

    2. did you of recent changes to the computer before this problem?

    3. you receive an error during the network connection code failed?

DNS (Domain Name System) translates the URL in IP (Internet Protocol) addresses (and vice versa). For example, if you type http://www.microsoft.com into the address bar in your web browser, your computer sends a request to a DNS server. The DNS server translates the URL to an IP address so that your computer can find the Microsoft web server.

We will try the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1: I suggest you clear the DNS cache and see if that fixes the problem. Clear the DNS cache forces DNS to query a DNS server rather than using the information stored in the cache.

    Follow these steps:

    a. click on the 'Start' button.

b b.. in the search box, type "command prompt"

    c. in the list of results, click on invite and then click on run as administrator

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    d. at the command prompt, type ipconfig/flushdns

Restart the computer and see if that fixes the problem.

Method 2: If you still have questions, I suggest you refer to the suggestions of Meghmala responded on 28 June 2011 from the link below.

  • IM problems with my wireless connection, it says my DNS server does not respond, what is this, can help to somone, thanks

IM problems with my wireless connection, it says my DNS server does not respond, what is this, can help to somone, thanks

    Hello

Thanks for posting the question in the Microsoft Community!

You can't use the wireless connection and the message that the DNS server is not responding.

The problem may occur if the computer is unable to connect to the DNS server.

To check, I suggest you follow the steps:

    Method 1: Re-register the DNS

    a. Click Start. Type cmd in the search box and press ENTER.

    b. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/flushdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

It will display the message properly emptied the cache of DNS resolution.

    c. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
ipconfig/registerdns (there is a space between ipconfig and /)

    d. at the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:

ipconfig/all (there is a space between ipconfig and /)
The command ipconfig/all command displays for all your network adapters, TCP/IP in Windows settings.

If your IP address of your Local network connection is 0.0.0.0 or 169.x.x.x (where x is a number any), then your computer does not receive an IP address from router.
If this is the case, try this:

    i. enough at the command prompt ipconfig and press ENTER

II. ipconfig / renew in command prompt and press ENTER

The test again by typing ipconfig/all to see what is the address? (If you are on a router, it should start by or 192.168.0.x or 192.168.1.x 10.x.x.x)

    Method 2:

    a. click Start and then click Control Panel.

    b. go to the networking and sharing Center and then click on change adapter settings.

    c. right-click on connection to the Local network and select Properties.

    d. Select Internet Protocol Version 6, and then click Properties.

    e. choose the DNS server to obtain an address automatically , then press Ok.

    f. Select obtain IP address automatically.

    g. Repeat steps for Internet Protocol version 4 as well.

  • Unable to connect to the main DNS server when you try to access the internet

Computer has worked fine for the year last until 2 weeks ago and now unable to connect to the internet.

Windows Vista on broadband and services connected directly to the modem by ethernet.  Provider Internet has run tests and confirmed modem is fine and it's like my laptop runs very well on it.

Re-initialization of the modem, internet works and you can type in a few places and it seems OK, but you can't do anything on a site, it is, enter the details and even if you try and enter anything, you can usually view 2 sites and then it goes again.  However, the network icon shows that on and connected to the internet.

The diagnosis, it is said that he cannot access the primary DNS server.

Do you have any idea how I can fix this or should I just completely re - install windows from the original disk set?

A few things you can try...  [This will be the Windows to try to automatically fix your connection]

Open 'Network and sharing Center' (you can search for it in the Vista Start menu)

Under tasks, click on "diagnose and repair".

If this fails, you can try...  [This will use the NETSHell utility to RESET your network interface (removes all static configurations and sets DHCP)]

Open a command prompt (you can also search for it on the start menu in Vista, if you have this OPTION enabled, you need to start as administrator)
The type of command line: NETSH INTERFACE IP RESET. JOURNAL

If you still have problems, try to post your IPCONFIG/all, file HOSTS and ROUTE PRINT on this forum.

    How to:

    IPCONFIG/ALL
Open the command prompt and type: IPCONFIG/all
To save the output to a file simply type at the command prompt: IPCONFIG/all > filename.txt

Your HOSTS file is located in the following path (the HOSTS file does not have an extension, it is simply named "HOSTS"):
    %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS
    or
    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ETC\HOSTS

    ROUTE PRINT
Open the command prompt and type: ROUTE PRINT
To save the output to a file simply type at the command prompt: ROUTE PRINT > filename.txt

PS: If it becomes really hairy, you can provide NETSH DUMP (this provides virtually all network configurations)... You certainly shouldn't need to re - install Windows.  There is probably a setting of network configuration problem that causes this problem.  Good luck!

  • Unable to connect wireless DNS server is not recognized.

My laptop won't connect wireless does not have the DNS server has never had a problem before

    Hi Roger,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description of the issue you are unable to connect wirelessly because there do not recognize the DNS server. The problem may be caused, if there is a miss match the IP address configuration. Then, I suggest you to try the steps below and see if it helps you to solve the problem.

    Method 1

Automated convenience store is a tool that can find and automatically fix problems with your computer. These utilities are not designed to solve all the problems, but they are useful to try because they can often save your time and efforts.

    Run the network troubleshooter utility:

    Method 2

If the problem persists, I suggest you to release and renew the IP address. For this you can see the steps below.

    1. Go to Start, click all programs and open the Accessories.
    2. Right-click on command prompt in the list programs, and then select run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click OK.

    3. In the command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER:
      enough ipconfig and press ENTER.

    4. Then type ipconfig / renew and press ENTER.

    5. Type Exit and press ENTER.

    Method 3

If the problem persists, try to reset the TCP/IP stack and see if it helps you to solve the problem. To reset TCP/IP, you can refer to the procedure described in the article mentioned below. If fixit does not help, try to follow the manual steps.

How to reset TCP/IP using the NetShell utility

Hope it would help. If problem persists always post back with the current state of your computer and the result of the proposed suggestion, we will be happy to help you.

    Hello Hildegard Lydia,

You may experience this problem for a number of reasons. Some common problems that can cause these problems are: drivers damaged or incompatible, updates missing, network connection settings, hardware problems or software or TCP/IP can sometimes be damaged or corrupted.

What is the brand and model of your computer?

Please follow the steps mentioned below:

Method 1: a component of the Internet connection on your computer is a package of instructions called TCP/IP. TCP/IP can sometimes become damaged or altered. If you can't connect to the Internet and you have tried all other methods to solve the problem, TCP/IP can be causing it.

  • does anyone know what causes this sudden failure to communicate with the DNS server?

My laptop suddenly stopped being able to connect to the internet. It has full signal and the modem works on a laptop another family (where I send you this). The error message "windows cannot communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server), I followed the advice without success to date. What could cause do this all of a sudden?

You have McAfee? McAfee has been updated at the same time as the last batch of updates from Windows 7 and this is the cause of the problems of connections for all McAfee users.

See the communication from this "criticism" - McAfee

Some customers may experience a loss of network connectivity and/or errors in McAfee Security Center after a recent update

You should make the fix McAfee, if necessary. There are corresponding communications for their enterprise products.

I had to run the removal of McAfee Development tool a few times before and it caused a problem with the license if the PC was not connected to the internet during the abduction. Due cat of McAfee support reset their files in order to allow the relocation-reactivation. Here is their link cat - McAfee - media contains the link to the cat

I got McAfee, but the connection has started working again on its own so I thought I was clear of problems. However, when I checked it says he was doing routine checks the updates in vain when I told it to do a manually. So stick with McAfee you don't follow their procedure of fix would have upgraded my PC at risk by not updated and, like other McAfee ads have since explained, the application did not refer to its database of threats correctly [and this could explain part of the variability of the symptoms of failure but all involved loss of internet connection]. Actually, I removed McAfee then installed Microsoft Security Essentials rather & my answer IE is faster I knew it [even though I had the Add-ons McAfee disabled for centuries].

  • Unable to connect with the DNS server

Recently, I went away for the weekend and came back to find that I had no internet, on all devices... So I don't know exactly how long he was out. I'm a computer and a network engineering student and I've tried everything I can think of to make it work again. Here's what I did:

First off troubleshooting generates an error message: "failed to connect to the DNS server.

Of course, I did reboot of the habit of my router and my devices.

I can't connect to WiFi or direct connection via Ethernet. I tried flushing DNS via the command-line ("ipconfig/flushdns") as well as the command "netsh int ip reset", "ipconfig/release" and "ipconfig / renew." I tried to go into the settings of the network adapter and the two affecting the IPv4 and IPv6 DNS google DNS settings. I even traded my router for a new with my ISP (of Roger (Canada)). I have connected to my router through my web browser and tried to change some of the DNS settings there (everything went well). Nothing worked so I have everything set to default. I tried ping around my own network, I ping my own card NETWORK, but also the entry door, so I know that's not my PC, I have also excluded because all my devices do not work. I spoke with Rogers (my ISP) twice now and they were no help at all, they were more concerned by the flashing lights on the router as the real problem. I'll have a technician to the course to watch tomorrow, but I doubt they'll be any help at all. I wouldn't say I'm a computer genius, but I have a pretty good understanding of how things work and I can not understand what the problem is here, I can have forgotten something or forgot to mention something I tried. But if anyone has any ideas, or similar cases they decided that I would be VERY grateful for the help.
